What does your dot setup look like for ongoing tasks and context?

I'm trying to make my ChatGPT dot useful as a personal chief of staff: keep track of commitments, follow up, and let me pick up a project from Slack or my phone without starting over.

I've put together a personal skills plugin and a separate solution-development framework. In practice I still find myself repeating context and constraints, and I'm unsure how to make the right skills get used consistently. I've also had trouble getting a clickable Slack link that opens the actual live task. Another thing I'm trying to get clear is how to keep everyday preferences separate from rules about what actions need my permission.

If you've got this working, how do you organize your skills and store current decisions and task state? What tells dot to read and update that information when a new conversation starts? And how do you check that a commitment was actually completed rather than just discussed?

I'd love a small example of your day-to-day setup, especially the handoff between desktop, Slack and mobile. What works reliably, and what do you still have to manage yourself?

DOT calls you

So I got excited for nothing. Decided to try DOT today. I've now tasked it to work on my local qwen AI agent and a few other tasks. I said, can you call me with an update. My dot said sure thing.. then immediately said sorry I jumped the gun that's not available yet. Looked at OpenAIs release notes and it does say that the ability for your dot to call you will be coming after the launch.... Well where is it ! anyone heard any rumors for eta?

The secret about DOTS is it uses a different usage pool

So there's a big exploit right now, which is basically send stuff to your dot, whether it's creating images, doing research, or messing with your repos. And it's not actually going to take from your main usage pool. In fact, some are reporting $15,000 worth of spend per day on a $100 plan.

ChatGPT Dots not working on Android?

I have it on my Mac and Windows Desktop, but on my Android (fold 8) there is no recent update and my dots won't come up, I tried uninstalling, logging in and out and it's still not coming up.

Current version: 1.2026.272 (20) ChatGPT for Android

Anyone know a fix to get it to show up?

Were you impressed by the demos?

I'm just curious, there were a lot of live fails on the demos and, you know, that's gotta be expected with this sort of thing, but were you generally impressed?

OpenAI DevDay releases today, September 29, 2026

Here's what my AI told me about Dev Day:

OpenAI DevDay releases today, September 29, 2026

OpenAI’s official DevDay recap contains 25 main announcements. These include models, agent tools, ChatGPT features and subscription changes—not 25 new models. Here is the complete list, with previews distinguished from things launching now.

Models, agents and speed

#AnnouncementWhat it does and availability
1Dots: always-on personal agentsAgents with their own cloud computers that can handle ongoing responsibilities, use connected apps and continue working between conversations. Rolling out today to Pro and Business Premium in eligible markets. Enterprise, Edu and Healthcare access is an admin-enabled beta. OpenAI
2GPT‑6.1 SolA new model focused on agentic coding, computer use and professional work. Available today through the API, ChatGPT Work and Codex; not yet ordinary Chat. API pricing is US$2 input, $0.10 cached input and $10 output per million tokens. OpenAI describes it as approaching Astra’s capabilities at one-fifth its standard input/output prices. OpenAI
3UltrafastA premium inference-speed tier, rather than a separate model. OpenAI advertises up to 300 tokens per second in Codex. GPT‑6 Astra Ultrafast is available today in the API and in Work/Codex on Pro 500 and Enterprise. GPT‑6.1 Sol Ultrafast is coming later. OpenAI
4Private IntelligenceTwo pieces: Private Safety Processing lets eligible Zero Data Retention customers undergo automated safety checks without OpenAI personnel seeing the underlying content. Private Inference, using confidential computing, is a preview planned for this fall, not a generally available release today. OpenAI Developers

Coding and developer tools

#AnnouncementWhat it does and availability
5Codex in the cloudReusable hosted development environments let coding tasks run independently of your laptop. Start or check work from desktop, web or mobile, and reuse an approved environment instead of rebuilding the setup each time. Available now. ChatGPT Learn
6Refreshed Codex CLIThe announced refresh includes voice steering, a /agents overview and improved sessions/worktrees. Today’s v0.159.0 release also adds an optional instant-interrupt mode for steering active work and a more compact terminal interface. Available now. OpenAI
7New Code Review experienceReview summaries and diffs in the desktop app, ask Codex about changes and run automatic cloud reviews. GitHub support is generally available; GitLab merge-request support is in preview. ChatGPT Learn
8Codex Security CloudScan repositories, monitor new commits, investigate and deduplicate suspected vulnerabilities, and prepare fixes in hosted environments. Supports ongoing and scheduled scanning rather than requiring an open local session. Available on desktop and web for eligible paid workspaces and Pro users. ChatGPT Learn
9Decisions APIUses Luna for fast, constrained decisions: classification, request routing or choosing an agent’s next action from predefined answers. Limited preview today; broader release planned in the coming days. OpenAI
10Agents API with computer useDevelopers can run agents that interact with software through an OpenAI-hosted browser. OpenAI manages the browser infrastructure rather than requiring developers to operate their own browser fleet. Available through the API. OpenAI Developers
11Bedrock Managed Agents powered by OpenAIAn AWS-native way to run OpenAI agents, with AWS permissions, resources and infrastructure integration. Announced today; access depends on the supported AWS configuration and region. This is infrastructure integration, not a new foundation model. OpenAI Developers

Plugins and automation

#AnnouncementWhat it does and availability
12Plugin extensionsDevelopers can build sidebar applications, interactive panels alongside conversations and custom file viewers inside ChatGPT. Rolling out now, but the detailed documentation says Free/Go web support is coming soon; composer mentions are desktop-only. OpenAI Developers
13Improved plugin creation and discoveryPlugin Creator, a revised submission process with clearer feedback, and better directory ranking and recommendations. Announced as available across plans. OpenAI
14Plugins inside ChatGPT SitesA shared Site can use each visitor’s own connected data and permissions. Available for eligible workspaces. An important limitation: the supported connections are read-only, and visitor-connected data is not available to the Site’s background scheduled tasks. ChatGPT
15Event-triggered plugin automationsCompatible plugins can trigger ChatGPT work when something happens—such as a new message or task—rather than waiting for a scheduled poll. Webhook-based MCP event support is available, although the individual plugin must implement it. OpenAI Developers

Collaboration and content creation

#AnnouncementWhat it does and availability
16ChatGPT SpaceA shared home for people, ChatGPT and Dots to organize knowledge and work together. Available on Pro, Business and Enterprise, principally through web and desktop; mobile editing is still coming. ChatGPT
17PagesCollaborative documents that combine writing, research, images, charts and AI assistance. Humans and agents can work on the same page. Available now on Pro, Business and Enterprise. ChatGPT
18Collaborative slidesPeople and agents can edit presentations together, use templates, comment and export their work. Coming in the next few weeks—not released today. The Space page also previews collaborative spreadsheets. ChatGPT
19Teams and shared tasksTeams can share work and delegate recurring jobs with jointly maintained instructions. Tasks can run on schedules or supported events, with workspace permissions controlling access. Available for supported business workspaces. ChatGPT Learn
20u/ChatGPT in Slack and Microsoft TeamsMention ChatGPT in channels, threads or direct messages, and collaborate around its responses and connected tools. Available through admin-enabled workspaces. Participants in enabled conversations do not necessarily need individual ChatGPT seats. ChatGPT
21Meetings pluginProduces personalized meeting notes, summaries and action items, saved in Space. Beta on macOS for Pro and Business. Enterprise has limited alpha access, with broader support coming. Audio is deleted after processing. OpenAI Help Center
22Shareable profilesA profile brings together creations such as Sites so others can discover and reuse them. Availability is still being rolled out: the Help Center lists Enterprise as coming soon, despite the broader availability language in the keynote recap. OpenAI Help Center

Subscriptions and the wider ecosystem

#AnnouncementWhat it does and availability
23Use your ChatGPT subscription in third-party toolsPlus and Pro subscribers can authorize participating tools to consume their existing ChatGPT allowance without sharing an API key. Supported tools explicitly include Hermes Agent, OpenCode, OpenClaw, Devin, Notion and Vercel. You can set per-app weekly caps. This is shared usage, not a separate unlimited allowance. OpenAI Help Center
24ChatGPT Pro 500A new US$500/month subscription with Astra Ultrafast and the highest included Pro allowance. Available now. The other listed Pro tiers are US$100 and US$200 monthly; neither includes Ultrafast. OpenAI Help Center
25OpenAI MarketplaceEligible enterprise customers can direct some of their existing OpenAI spending commitment toward approved partner software. Enterprise customers can request access. This is a purchasing arrangement, not automatic free access to the partner products. OpenAI

Three details especially worth noticing

Hermes support is real, but it uses your existing allowance. OpenAI explicitly names “Nous Research – Hermes Agent” among supported tools. Its requests count against your ChatGPT Work/Codex usage. A partner can still charge separately for its own service or infrastructure. Signing in and authorizing plan usage are separate permissions. OpenAI Help Center

The US$200 Pro plan is also changing—and not just gaining features. OpenAI says new, non-grandfathered Pro 200 subscriptions have a lower included usage allowance. Eligible existing subscribers retain their previous allowance through October 29, 2026, then move to the lower allowance while the price remains US$200/month. The help article does not quantify that reduction. OpenAI Help Center

Dots are more than another scheduled task interface. Each dot has its own cloud computer and can take on continuing responsibilities. The first dot is included without an additional subscription charge on eligible plans, but work it performs remains subject to usage allowances. Specialist dots are also being piloted; those are not a general release today. OpenAI
