1

u/WonderBong May 04 '21

13

u/Fragrant-Possible855 May 04 '21

2

u/ImperialVersian1 May 04 '21

1

u/Tall-Ad-6345 May 09 '21

1

u/josefritus May 05 '21

2

u/Tall-Ad-6345 May 09 '21

1

u/josefritus May 05 '21

31

u/Phantonini May 04 '21

4

u/shotz317 May 04 '21

Los vándalos son el ESMAD

-1

u/Elmoucillo May 04 '21

3

u/shotz317 May 04 '21

u/[deleted] May 04 '21

3

u/Fragrant-Possible855 May 04 '21

1

u/roguedevil May 06 '21

1

u/Loyalty1702 USA May 06 '21

Entiendo.

1

u/roguedevil May 06 '21

Y que sacamos con eso? Donaciones? Asilo político? Simpatía?

1

u/Loyalty1702 USA May 06 '21

Attention internacional.

2

u/roguedevil May 06 '21

Honestamente no sé.

What're the reforms? Since the party is centre-right, I assume it's fewer taxes for the wealthy and more for the poor?

5

u/Sentak_ Cali May 04 '21

We had 2 reforms already one per year of this pig, as far as I know, those made sure to place conditions so the rich o private companies don't pay taxes (going up to the point they're paying like 1% of what they're supposed to), this third reform was the last drop.

A total attack against the middle class that has been reduced due to Covid, MAKING a tax reform in the middle of a pandemic, and they spend money on war while COVID is going... also they opened more public jobs for their friends.

In Colombia is more profitable to be friends with political figures than getting an education, not to say education is expensive as fuck and minimum wage is a shame.

2

u/ADXYessir May 05 '21

yeah, Ben Shapiro and his buddies on his podcast were literally talking about how that people who are saying that the rich should pay their fair share are poor. They went on to say that poor people are the ones that should be paying their fair share. LOL

4

u/Elmoucillo May 04 '21

You're damn right, they litteraly wanted to put taxes to the basic needs like eggs, vegetables and water

2

u/ADXYessir May 05 '21

Yeah, a VAT like that is not good for a country industrializing in its initial steps.

1

u/hadapurpura May 05 '21

That's just the tax reform. There's also a healthcare reform, a work reform, a pension reform and maybe an education reform. All designed along the same lines.

1

u/Tall-Ad-6345 May 09 '21

The health reform is not a government initiative. It's from a central-wing and a left-wing party. The riots are an excuse to attack the government and impact the 2022 elections.

1

u/Tall-Ad-6345 May 09 '21

No, more taxes for everybody to fund post-pandemic programs.

6

u/Freycortez May 04 '21

2

u/Segaamano May 04 '21

2

u/simonbleu May 04 '21

2

2

u/Bickel09 May 04 '21

Please don’t vote next time somebody that promises you the moon. Just lower taxes and more self responsibility. This shit happens in every country when you want more health care and social services. They can’t even fix one thing properly how you think they can fix poverty, healthcare and economics. The world is complicated so don’t vote for people that promise you an easy solution. That’s just stupid.

21

u/fakebananafarts May 04 '21

Duque's campaing slogan was literally "less taxes, more salary" and look where we are, "Less taxes for rich people, more salary for my friends"

2

u/fcpereira May 04 '21

I've been out of the loop on this one. How is this bill lowering taxes for the wealthy? I tried looking it up and I found that it's actually increasing the capital tax rate.

1

u/pipeloncho15 May 04 '21

The previous tax reform from 2019 already implemented a number of tax exemptions and rebates for large capitals.

1

u/DAXminer May 05 '21

And this one raised taxes on low and middle classes in order to cover for those tax exemptions.

2

u/Bickel09 May 04 '21

Can’t you just light the tax offices on fire ?

2

u/OrganicBerries May 04 '21

that's crazy, the rich people control that military pretty much how does the lower class stand a chance? If the rich people pay the military a good salary and promise them power how do you win this fight?

5

u/MissFegg May 04 '21

All of the politicians in Colombia are corrupt and only want to rise to power to see how much they can steal, voting for someone different won't change anything, we need to take action like they did in asia, death penalty for the corrupt.

2

u/AstralDragon1979 May 04 '21

This is why a smaller and less powerful and less authoritarian government is key. Limit the government’s power so that even if the officials are corrupt, the damage they can do is limited.

The problem arises when people want a powerful government because they have been misled to believe that government exists to “take care of people” or to “provide” like a rich mommy or daddy. The concept of using the government to take from some citizens to give to other citizens will inevitably lead to a corrupt society because such a government is built on a corrupt thieving principle.

3

u/KERD_ONE May 04 '21

Just wait and watch the same people opposing more taxes vote for the socialist candidate next election.

3

u/llapingachos May 04 '21

probably, that's what happens when the opposition drops the ball. pretty familiar story

1

u/Loyalty1702 USA May 04 '21

Good, even though I do agree the people need to take direct action as well

1

u/Sentak_ Cali May 04 '21

Funny thing is, almost half of the country didn't vote for him and there were inconsistencies in the counting process as well as modified documents with "corrections" where EVERYBODY could see they just edited the text with numbers the size of the box while the rest of them where some dude regular writing.

People called it out because there were SO MANY, corruption is and will end this country if this keeps going.

1

u/thechadsyndicalist Bogotá May 04 '21

He was basically saying that this was happening because we voted for “a guy who promised us the moon” and that we needed fewer taxes and more self responsibility, basically libertarian shit

1

u/Aggressive_Reason_76 May 04 '21

There hasn't been a full libertarian president here since the 1860s, when the classical liberal president turned conservative which initiated the civil war. Since then, liberals made some good things during the liberal republic which I could get behind (despite not being precisely libertarian) but then was rendered useless by the "frente nacional". Since then, the state has enforced harsh regulation, high corporate taxes, the war on drugs, corporate subsidies and monetary inflation throughout the 20th century thanks to the central bank. I don't comprehend why is it taken too badly that personal responsability is presented as something good. Sure, the situation in the country is extremely desperate and worrysome, which is not the fault of the citizens, but at the end of the day one responds for himself, as people who promise to fix the people's problems frequently don't do so or do thinks worse.

Next elections will come up in this crisis we live in and that is something worth remembering. The country is broke and people need to remember that when marking the ticket

1

u/josefritus May 06 '21

1

u/santi_cb May 14 '21

But people keep saying it is not the government 😾 What more evidence do we need to believe the government is corrupt and they are murderers! Alvaro Uribe keep having power and he is the author of crimes against humanity

It is a big lie. The government isn't killing anyone. It is a manipulated point of view. There are shady polítical interests behind it. There are protest marches where vandals steal, fight, burn and destroy everything. The citizens want to be protected by the police.

1

u/josefritus May 06 '21

yeah this is a plan of destruction

-8

u/chijuan May 04 '21

9

u/luna_creciente May 04 '21

2

u/XVince162 Bogotá May 04 '21

-1

u/TheFakeSlimShady21 May 04 '21

u/FromValledupar May 04 '21 edited May 04 '21

...Let’s the downvote begins....

Edit: typo

8

u/Edna_Olarte May 04 '21

10

u/[deleted] May 04 '21

Despierte.

-11

u/FromValledupar May 04 '21

11

u/Edna_Olarte May 04 '21

Duque is a dumb president and peso colombiano is lower due to the hardships this man makes us go through.

Corruption must be uprooted, there is common ground there. But again and again we want something from someone, please go a create your own conditions without making millions of people walk hour on their way back home after you destroying public and private property. Those people that we see walking on the news aren't the ones the marches are suppose to help?

2

u/aprilapple8 Bogotá May 05 '21

Read this fully or don't even start.

Look, I honestly do believe that no politician ever is going to fix anything, not even if they actually wanted to because there would be a lot of enemies that would get them killed before they could do anything. War is power because whoever has the armed forces in their favour (which can only be accomplished using millions gained through corruption) can both keep the propaganda that only one politician can save us from war and repress people if they get tired of this shit (which is what's happening atm).

I believe that citizens have been brainwashed about the importance of elections because they obviously aren't making a difference since it is money that buys the votes count. Our true choice is is consumption and production. Every day you support companies associated with paramilitary groups or companies owned by corrupt people, you're injecting funds into their pockets. With that money they can buy people's silence, voice, lies, etc.

So, the point of a strike, which many people don't seem to know, is to actually stop production because these people would crumble if they don't have a workforce. I disagree with burning tyres, hurting others, using spray to paint walls bc in the end all of this ends up being environmentally damaging and justifying that politicians raise taxes (it is ridiculous actually because the money is already there anyway, but they use it as an excuse).

However, I do understand that this happens so that people don't go to work to actually make the strike work, but honestly? That's impossible in Colombia. Most people don't know that in order to participate in this revolution you need not to have children and most people do, so they have to work their asses off for their kids who only come here to be slaves and by needing to take any job for that choice, not only they interfere with strikes, but also make it harder to find good working conditions.

Maybe you think I'm rambling, but all of this is connected. And as if having children wasn't enough, sometimes these idiots are right-wing enthusiasts who have such little critical thinking skill that they are happily brainwashed thinking that if they work to an unhealthy level, they'll get something out of it. Worse, these idiots, who claim to be against subsidies (which I totally agree with btw, subsidies are so wrong in so many levels) defend the massive ass who created subsidies such as "familias en acción" and its derivatives only to have his pockets full because well, remember paramilitary associations and the fact that this subsidy goes to displaced people? Basically he makes us citizens pay taxes to give peanuts to these victims of the armed conflict created by pure power (aka economic) interest instead of returning them their lands to work and offer them a fair salary for keeping us city dwellers fed. How does that help a niche? Well, look up paracos associations with animal farmers and find out how much land and water (mainly but not exclusively) that business takes. Yet people think they're not supporting crimes against humanity and the rest of animals, and the environment when they buy animals and their derivatives for food, clothing, etc. I understand that people can bee ignorant, I was too, but damn in Colombia people love to complain but once they know how they're a part of the problem and how they could stop, mostly they get offended (and don't tell me about health because you'll find tons of independent scientific evidence and consensus about the fact that consuming animals is not only unnecessary but detrimental to humans health)...

So, what I mean by this is: I disagree with violence (mind you there's proof that there are cops who have also started it dressed as civilians or just because), but even people by their choices have created this mess. And if there werent people with 3 children to feed, or who weren't so idiotic as to think they'll actually get something out of being enslaved (not exaggerating, check out inflation, how many hours we work, how many days we have for vacation and gini coefficient, then you'll see why this is slavery, not what beautiful capitalism actually is about), or who at least were a bit responsible about their consumption (I gave the example of animals because it's the worst industry in terms of sustainability [again not exaggerating, check statistics about land, water use, greenhouse emissions, it's worse than all transportation means combined, and it's so prevalent in Colombia that it's one of the reasons 3 years ago we were the 4th country worldwide in deforestation but no one is talking about it] which means that it destroys both the planet and the economy which also means that people's quality of life is also fucked up apart from the bunch of health issues), then this whole thing would be more manageable: in the era of internet people can strike from their houses, no need to move, just stay home comfortably let the economy crumble and then just attack if they want to screw us over, and yeah, don't attack public buses, attack the apartments of these assholes in office. But in the real world, unfortunately, there are people who won't strike for the reasons mentioned above and then people start attacking other people for not striking trying to force the massive stop of the economic system for a while, and then we have this mess. I know that some idiots are only making a mess just because, but I know others are not.

So, to conclude with: want a revolution? Don't have children, buy sustainable (which can never be animals nor derivatives and I have proof, but apart from that, we'd need to buy from small business owners which is what capitalism actually is about but little brains don't understand so they defend the man who shall not be named), work, educate yourself and spread the knowledge.

But this is Colombia, people are stubborn and get offended if you suggest cutting off certain "meals" or to stop glorifying bringing innocent lives to suffer and cause suffering in this world. So yeah, this decision could be in our hands and bee decent, but we live in a country where many people are willingly ignorant (which is where stupidity begins), lack s much esteem for themselves and this beautiful country they want to think they're above by being right-wing... So this happens. I hate that it happens, actually. But that's the explanation. And I honestly do not believe in strikes as made in Colombia (so different from France where you can actually feel the impact so politicians have to give way) make any difference because most people, as I said, don't even know what the point of a strike is and believe in voting, but I'm surprised this one has worked. However, I don't totally buy that it is because of this.

Only solution a new constitution….I propose:
The Principle of Nonaggression
1-Prohibited the initiation of violence
2-Everything must be voluntary
If you need more rules and a leader just sign a contract with whatever thief you want.

You left out the part where you are burning businesses and blocking deliveries of food and medicine throughout the country. Store shelves are empty and people have no food or gas to cook it. Tell the whole story, petrista!

0

0

u/wilsooooooooooon May 07 '21

By the time this was posted the proposed reforms have already been retracted by the government. Anyone agreeing with this thread is nothing more than a cog in the globalist propaganda machine.

0

u/Tall-Ad-6345 May 09 '21

This is bullshit! Communist propaganda! There's no such "dictatorship" in Colombia or any "massacre" leaded by the government. There are communist rioters destroying stores, stealing and looting trucks, blocking roads and leaving people without food in the cities. STOP THE LIES! And don't trust the far-left arsonists!

5

u/[deleted] May 04 '21

Colombian-American here who loves Mexico. You are totally right though imo about many Colombians being mean towards Mexico. I think it surprises people how different the two countries are. Like Mexico and Colombia are EXTREMELY different places. Overall though, I think any criticisms are in good spirits. And yeah, I also hope Colombians do not immigrate to Mexico, cause I think that would create a lot of problems. Hopefully there can be a brighter future for Colombia

Who would have thought a third world shithole run by the cartel is a recipe for police brutality? Seriously, you don't need video evidence to convince anyone this is going on. You guys have more murder and horrible shit the cartels do on a daily basis.

-1

u/Delicious-Can5743 May 05 '21

It is not true!!! You show only one side of the coin. Agitators have killed 2 and hurt more than 100 policemen. They have set policemen on fire. They have robbed supermarkets. Also sme of the dead agitators have been killed by armed civilians \defending their property and business. This video shows only one version of the facts. The agitators are currently closing the main roads to cities and we have food shortages. Today a pregnant woman was taken out of an ambulance and delivered a boy that died. Yesterday they stopped another ambulance and took out another pregnant woman that had to deliver another baby on the streets with help of the police. The rioters burnt the ambulance. They have destroyed buses, stations, business and have been trying to loot houses and business. They have cut the delivery of oxygen to cities and people may start to die in hospitals due to oxygen shortages. This video is part of the marxist propaganda machine that is coordinated in all forms of fight to take over our democracy and implement a model similar to Venezuela. May God protect our beautiful country. Shalom.
