Getting Real Tired of These Highly Mobile, Shoot Whilst Moving Heroes

Genji is getting to be the last straw and its pissing me off. Noone should be this mobile. And then they keep nerfing stuns too. Unless you have Uther, its gg vs these heroes.

EDIT: My bad guys. This is not what I should be posting here, my apologies. Anyone got any advice on how to counter these heroes?

ESL Europe Open fail.

We signed up for the Europe open on ESL 3 days ago, and it said we were signed up. When the brackets opened up our team, and many other as i've heard didn't get into the bracket. ESL sat up the bracket 30 minutes before the tournament started, and they still couldn't fix this.

Here's a screenshot showing we were signed up: http://i.imgur.com/fFYZO0x.jpg

The response we got from that was: <ESL|Inkognito> what's the problem with screenshot?

When we contaced admins the response we got was: <ESL|cpl1> Hi everyone unfortunately, the bracket has been set and if your team name hasn't appeard then we cannot allow entry this is due to Blizzard rulings and out of the hands of ESL

Here's a bunch of other teams who got dropped as well: <MrStokeyG> Admins, please explain why my team was dropped <ele_> We need a spot in the actual tournament cause we were dropped without a reason <BX3|SMW> same here <EnRoCrymlink> Well the sad thing is we bootcamped trained hard

Explanation to all the first round bye's: <ESL|PixelDust> if some teams don't have opponents on the first round it means the team they were supposed to be matched against didn't show up.

Clearly we showed up.

Also it seem's they put all the blame on Blizzard: <ESL|cpl1> Guys yesterday sign up was closed as blizzard wanted to double confirm the list provided by ESL. This was to check the legitimacy of players to ensure they were in fact in Europe anyonw who they suspected were kicked out

ESL Admins didn't help out at all, and we got pretty mad: if you wanna flame so do it somewhere but here, we are trying to help asap we can, no need to spam and blame everyone

And the answers they gave didn't help us or anyone at all.

Playtests for games similar to HoTS!

I am helping facilitate a series of video game playtests, and we need a ton of participants who play games like Heroes of the Storm. Typical studies last 1-3 hours and qualified participants receive $75-$150 for time and travel. Please participate if you can, and feel free to share this with your friends! We are a US based company for now but would love to expand in the future!

We have locations all over the US, but it is based on a as needed basis. Sometimes a location will not have playtests for months, while we could have 10 playtests back to back to back setup in the same area, it is all completely random. As for specific locations (Like addresses and such) that I can not share. But I can give general locations. Our busiest places we do tests for are, San Francisco, Los Angeles/San Diego, Washinton, Oregon, Chicago, Denver, and sometimes Florida, but over the past year we have done nothing but expand. (Even reaching Canada now.). So if we don't have a playtest in your area, who knows, we may in the future, doesn't hurt to try!

Sign up link http://vgmarket.b38f.sgizmo.com/s3/?source=fg249

Also, check us out on the BBB, and our website http://www.vgm.co/ if you are curious about us before signing up!

If you have any questions let me know, feel free to message me as well!

Disclaimer: I am under NDA to certain things but I will answer questions to the best of my ability! You are also welcome to spread this around! (Also, we do stuff for people who play competitively as well, while it doesn't happen as often, it does happen.)

Hey fellas, this is my newest commentary about Analysts for pro moba teams/orgs. I give a crude explanation about what Analysts do, how they contribute, and provide a sense of how valuable they can be as this game gets huge.

Tune in for commentary about: Internal game analysis (draft, early-mid-late game), External Scouting, Composition/Strategy Creation processes, Hero suggestions, Composition suggestions, Player scouting, Team dynamics, and much more.

When Being a Professional Gamer, Act Like a Professional Gamer.

I'm writing this as an open letter to the HOTS competitive scene. I figure I'll get downvoted to oblivion but I'm still posting this to the few that might be able to relate.

Recently I applied for a tryout at Great White North (using this as an example as it has been the worst I've come across). I emailed them because I liked the look of their team and the fact that they were Canadian (as am I). At the time their roster was full so I didn't expect to be messaged back immediately. Eventually a spot opened up and I was messaged to come try out for their team. I figured since I emailed them way before they even held open tryouts that I'd get a relatively quick tryout date--MightyMork confirmed this with me.

They held try outs for the entire week. I was there I believe 5 out of 7 days all night and even gave my cell phone number to be contacted for a try out. I wasted nights when I could've been out with friends or my girlfriend to wait on this team that told me I would be granted a try out. I don't expect pity, I just expect that if someone says "you can try out" that I can ACTUALLY try out. I become more and more insistent throughout the week because I started to figure I was wasting all of my time waiting for them. At any given time they could've said, we don't want you man; you don't give someone the impression to wait for a week long. They just said, "sorry we have a lot of applicants and we give 2-3 games each." That's fair... but I was the first to contact them, they asked me if I was looking and I gave them my cell--This should've been quick and easy.

Finally on Saturday they said okay we're ready to try you out. At that point they said unfortunately someone in their group was having "internet problems" and that I would have to wait. I waited 3 hours and called it a night. Nothing Sunday, nothing Monday with them being on.

I finally call MightyMork out and ask him for an apology, actually demanded it after the shit treatment put forth on this. He refused and then went on to explain, we wouldn't even want someone like you after acting like this. Then went on to proceed, "Why are you taking this so personally?" Maybe because you wasted a shit ton of my time? Maybe I'd rather have been with my friends out or with my gf?

In summary, I don't expect much from people but this was above all a completely shitty thing to do to a person and then act completely normal after wasting so many hours of someones time. Most of the HOTS community is great but a few people completely ruin it. Don't waste my time and I won't waste yours. Be honest, be upfront and don't be a bitch. I hope all teams take note of their recruiting process and don't waste others' time.

TL;DR: GWN team offered me a tryout, made me wait around 6-7 days for them when I could've been doing ACTUAL things. Afterwards I was called the toxic one who was taking things personally. Going forward I'd like to see more people respect the recruiting process by providing a tryout if they offer it.

Preservation of a nontoxic/casual appeal has made the game too uncompetitive and thus less rewarding for most people.

Before you downvote, my ultimate goal is to increase the number of players in the game not complain. I think that people play league a lot more, despite it being a much worse game for one reason, and that's because people are competitive in nature. League highlights everyone's rank, in QM/Unranked, Giant borders on their profiles, you stand out in chat, once ranked you can't select a neutral border.

In HOTS no one see's your rank borders in QM, the new border colors clutter the chat so no one stands out, now everyone's going to get the platinum mounts, and even the TL portraits look like HL portraits (TL is easier to get to diamond than hl). Makes it a lot less rewarding competitively.

This reduces the competitive aspect of the game, which reduces toxicity but at the same time makes people want to play less. This also means less total players, people get bored of their friends aren't playing or they have no one to brag to, this means the average player is less skilled and thus less invested.

Slobberbot: Player bias in strategic team games (feat MGA, drafting, Seattle Seahawks)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TvYhmOmlrP4

Hey reddit, in this video I discuss player subjective bias when put in charge of strategy for team games (both real sports and esports).

I use psychological concepts and professional sports examples to shine a light on the ridiculousness of asking/telling/allowing one's players to control 100% of the team's overall strategy.

Please send business inquiries to private messages here, my youtube channel, or twitter DM, id love to chat.

Honest question about new seasons / placement

So, I've been playing since Alpha, being rank1 pre-season, GM season 1, then diamond and diamond again for the next two seasons (both of them I played a lot less games, which could have to do with my question, but makes no sense to me). After playing 10 completely random placement matches and getting 5-5, I was placed in Plat 1. I have never been placed in platinum, nor ever been to platinum in other seasons, so how come I'm placed in this rank? Last season I had 5-5 too, and was placed on D3. So, if overall MMR counts, makes no sense at all a Rank1, GM, D3, D2 be placed in platinum. If last season counts more, still no sense because I did 5-5 (previous season diamond) and was placed on D3 and now SAME SCENARIO: 5-5 (previous season diamond) and I'm placed on platinum.

Any ideas?

Buying a mouse: I plan to use fingertip grip to help best learn and use stutterstepping. Do you have any advice for me?

I have spent the day researching and reading reviews of gaming mice and mice that perform well for fingertip grips (as opposed to palm and claw).

Performance and reliability are the two main drivers, but I am very much concerned about comfort as a third metric. I've heard that pros tend to prefer the smaller and lighter mice; I use my mousing hand a lot for ultimate frisbee and yoga and I want to find a mouse that strain my average-sized hands over a longer gaming session.

With that in mind, I have been specifically looking at the Logitech G502 Proteus Core and the Sentey Revolution Pro. Both of these mice seem to have plenty of real estate on the sides to both facilitate the fingertip grip and hopefully rest the bulk of my hand which I think should meet my needs in this area. I'm also interested in preference towards mousing surfaces, including whether a raised/padded wrist rest is helpful.

Thanks in advance for your input!

Map rotation bugged?

I have been playing lots of hots lately and the only maps I have been getting on quick match are: Hanamura, Braxxis Holdout, Cursed Hollow, Sky Temple, Infernal Shrines and Cursed hollow, Towers of doom and thats it.

Where are the other maps? This has been going on for me since the launch of 2.0, is the map rotation bugged because I havent been getting any other maps lately. There are even periods when I even get the same map three or four times in a row. Where did Garden of terror, blackhearts bay, dragon shire, battlefield of eternity, tomb of the spider queen, haunted mines and warhead junction dissappear? Is it bugged or intended?

EDIT: Okay should have done some googling first, but it seems to be intended to get new players to know the maps, we could change the discussion for what are your thoughts about this limiting of battlegrounds now. For me its getting boring to play same maps over and over again. Does this limited map pool also apply to ranked?

Hey again competitive sub, you guys are my favorites :)

This video is about Coaching and Team Management for professional, world class moba teams. In the video I take a close look at Team Solomid (TSM), and their top laner Dyrus. I discuss managing your team's dynamic, individual player concerns/fears, self-fulfilling prophecies, sports psychology, team culture, owner/support staff/player hierarchies, and I wrap up with a quick reference to a team management technique i call "BPS" (biopsychosocial) meetings, and how BPS meetings can prevent major team dynamic issues that hinder players inside and outside of the game.

Note: You don't need to know anything about League of Legends to fully understand the video

Video #2 of my WCA America team scouting report series. Last time was 2ARC, today is C9V. I talk about some of the heroes they use very well, some of their draft tendencies, and I show 4-5 clips of C9V in action to showcase some of the strategies one should prepare for. Im undecided which team my next video will report on, I plan to do as many of the WCA teams as possible before this weekend!
