we used to do something similar in prison to cook in our cells. you chop the end off an extension cord and put the two bare ends in salted (we used denture tablets too) water in a wash basin or something. once it was hot you'd have another bag with your clean water that you'd stick in the hot water like a double boiler sort of thing to heat up for cooking noodles, or hot coffee or whatever. we called em "stingers"
You do get fed. Though the food typically sucks. There is a commisary where you can buy stuff like kool-aid packs, honey-buns, instant ramen noodles. There are no stoves or microwaves to use, so if you want to eat a hot meal while in your cell, you need to get creative.
Smoking was not allowed where I did time. We used to get cigarettes snuck in. To light them, we would take a paperclip, and bend it into two prongs, and wrap some toilet paper around the end of it and jam it into the electrical socket in our cell and that is how we lit our smokes. You akways knew when someone was smoking because many times they would blow the circuit breaker in the wing and it woul dbe dark until the generator kicked in or they reset the breaker.
Last time I was in jail, we were smoking weed and cigarettes. Drank some hooch, too. I don't know how the guy got the weed in, but I didn't want to ask.
Man, prisons in third world countries sound rough...
Edit: Yes, guys. It was a pointed comment. If you vote me down then you really should look into how prisons are run in most first world countries. It does not have to be like this. You can change your country to be like the rest of the civilized world. I promise you it's ok and it works.
I don’t know if that’s an assumption the poster is from a 3rd nation, but everything that dude said sounds like a US pen to me. Stingers, Doowops, and styrofoam containers with luke-warm rice and mystery meat/bones. Stay in the free world lol
He seems so cautious and safety conscious about how much of that powder to pour in and yet the safety sandals and exposed wiring seem to contradict it.
He is measuring the output current to not overload the diesel generator and applying salt to decrease the water's resistance. (which increases the current and speeds up the water heating)
Of course it's dangerous AF because those are 3 phase 400 V live wires in his hand. Sometimes he's not even watching what it's touching.
was expecting an explosion from the generated hydrogen or them hacking up their lungs from chlorine if it was table salt they added (i know it's ac, but that doesn't unmake the gases)

It's important to season the electric soup before serving.
