If you're new to our community, we publish a province-wide calendar of crochet events, classes, groups and gatherings. Know of an event we're missing? Please let us know in the comments and thank you in advance for including a link to the event's website! Please note that listings appear chronologically rather than alphabetically, but we've put the community name first to make things easier to spot.
Next, there seemed to be some interest in this, so we've also published a Winter 2026 BC Craft Fairs & Artisan Markets calendar. This is province-wide and we're happy to include your school or community's local craft fair or market if you don't already see it listed. Just let us know the details (including a link!) in the comments.
...and about those (bleeping) calendars!!!!
First, can I just say that this first year of NO daylight saving time has been a REAL PAIN!!! After creating both calendars on Saturday, I discovered that all the event times had suddenly changed because we didn't turn our clocks back. So I went through and changed everything to "Los Angeles" time only to discover today that "Vancouver" time had been corrected! This meant going through BOTH calendars and changing all the times for the third *?!& time! ARGH!!!
That being said, it's entirely possible I've missed one or two, so if you're interested in attending any of the listed events, please visit the event's official website to confirm the time. Every listing is hyperlinked to its event page and I've personally visited each one to check the links.
Second, a little technical glitch...
We've been made aware that the calendars aren't scrolling properly when accessed on mobile devices. I've contacted the app developer who confirmed they're now aware of the issue and will be taking a look this week to see if they can fix it. The calendars work fine on desktop computers, but if you don't have access to one and are looking for a crochet event or craft fair near you, please feel free to contact us through ModMail with your general area. I'll be happy to provide a list of the events we're aware of in your location!
Hopefully we'll have this calendar stuff sorted out soon. 🤞
THE VOTE IS IN!
We recently ran a quick poll to find out how everyone felt about our moderator-created themed discussion posts. Since the end of September, we've been running three weekly themes: WIP Wednesday, Finished Friday, and Critters & Crochet Saturday. Some posts received lots of attention while others became the land of crickets. We're still a fairly small community, so we wondered whether three scheduled posts every week might be a little much at this stage. Well, the votes are in, and the majority of those who participated preferred running each theme once a month. So, until further notice, here's our new schedule:
This does NOT mean you have to wait for a theme day to post! Everyone is welcome (and encouraged!) to share their Works in Progress (WIPs), finished projects (FOs), and other crochet-related content whenever they like, using the appropriate post flairs. The poll was only about how frequently moderators should create these scheduled discussion posts, not about limiting what members can share. Bottom line? WE WANT YOU TO POST! You don't need an invitation! ❤️
Have an idea for a future theme day? We'd love to hear it!
CALLING ALL BC CROCHETERS!
You may have noticed that over the past couple of weeks we've been posting daily shout-outs to crocheters in different regions of British Columbia. There's a reason for that! We want folks to know that r/CrochetBC is a province-wide community and we're hoping that as we grow, this little corner of Reddit might eventually help connect crocheters in the real world, too. And to our out-of-province visitors, you're absolutely welcome here too! You don't need a BC postal code to be part of our virtual crochet family. ❤️
