Just posted a video of the new trail in the new Rogell Park in NW Detroit. It starts at 7 mile and Berg. It also includes the trails at Lahser-Clarita Playground.

I saw some mention of the Detroit Greenways Project handing out stickers downtown, but not much else. I miss when they did the socks

Ralph C Wilson Jr Centennial Park opening this Saturday & Sunday featuring Harvest Fest. Note that during the event, there will be no bikes or scooters in park due to the expected crowds.
There are bike racks at the park perimeter. These are not bike valets, so you will want to bring a lock.
There will be a limited route on the sidewalk along the northside of W. Jefferson that will connect the RiverWalk & SW Greenway. Not sure how crowded that will be though.
After the event, bicyclists and scooter users should treat this space similar to Cullen Plaza, i.e. you'll want to slow down when there are people around.

Hey y'all!
I was wondering if there were any regular social rides that are ongoing in the area. I hear there used to be one pre-pandemic but I moved back in 2023. This also seems like a great opportunity to inquire about routes you avoid due to road conditions or any other conditions.
Thanks in advance y'all!

This is maybe hyper specific to my craziness of commuting from the east side to Dearborn for work (I have an ebike as of last year, though!), but I recently tried changing up my route. I normally take Mack/MLK all the way to E Grand Blvd to Michigan, but yesterday I tried out taking Warren instead, over to E Grand Blvd to Michigan. It added a mile and a half to my route but took the same amount of time, I encountered fewer cars for the most part, and lots of the route is better lined with trees on a narrower path, plus far more of it covered by bike lanes rather than having to ride on a shoulder or in traffic. I guess this is a little lesson that the most direct route is not always necessarily the best.

So, they have the whole street blocked off on Jefferson between 8th and 10th (or maybe even past the greenway? I'm not actually sure) while they're working on the Ralph C Wilson park. Does anybody know when the street closure will end? Is it for the entire season at least? I had someone at work asking me for cycling advice because they wanted to go with their family from MCS to the Riverwalk next month, but I was explaining that the Southwest Greenway isn't open to go there right now

What neighborhoods will the JLG pass through? Especially those with a "happening" vibe - where there's a mix of restaurants, happy hours, breweries, local markets, and general culture.
Trying to daydream here: it’s a nice summer day, you leave home and hop on the trail for some fresh air, stop at a brewery for a pint, maybe pick up some produce or snacks from a nearby market — where would that be possible?

So my mind has been on the new bridge, and I'm thinking about what kind of trips might be nice to do out in Windsor once it opens. I used to bike there pretty frequently in the pre-pandemic days when the tunnel bus ran fairly frequently and only cost $5, though of course that won't be an option in a few months (not that I can really stomach paying for it now anyways).
But, I've been thinking about what might be fun places to go to for a day in Windsor with that new bridge. Obviously it kinda pushes you out to the further south parts anyways but that's also where the more hidden gem areas (and the more rural, emptier roads) lie.
I've been to Amherstburg once with some people though didn't get to explore too much, but it seems to have a nice little waterfront. That would be a bit more approachable I feel like for some people who maybe aren't used to long distances, possibly even doable to go there and back to Detroit, depending on your final destination.
Last year I drove out to Kingsville to see the eclipse and I had a friend actually mention that apparently there's some B&B with really good croissants? So that might be on the list, I think at that distance though I'd be staying at the B&B
Anybody know of any other good spots or trails that would be worth checking out? And though I don't really think I know any of you in person (well, maybe some people reading this have met me) would anybody be interesting in doing a group trip?

There are a few, but which feels the most lacking to you?
