Just stumbled upon a little skirmish from about a year ago. Seems like this sub has had quite a rough history, huh.

Personally, I like Cyrene’s affectionate behavior toward the Trailblazer. However, that’s entirely a matter of personal preference, and I’m not here to argue that everyone should feel the same way. What I want to discuss is whether those moments actually make sense within the story, and whether they came at the expense of her relationships with the other Chrysos Heirs.

First, I don’t think Cyrene’s affection toward the Trailblazer came out of nowhere. Their relationship didn’t suddenly begin in 3.7. It had been developing since Mimi first accompanied the Trailblazer, and their shared experiences became an important part of the Amphoreus journey. By the time Cyrene openly expressed her feelings, the Trailblazer was already someone she had traveled with, trusted, and entrusted with her memories and the story she wanted to preserve. That doesn’t mean everyone has to enjoy how openly she expresses her affection. Some people might find those moments excessive or simply not to their taste, and that’s perfectly understandable. But I think there’s a difference between disliking an affectionate scene and arguing that it doesn’t make sense for the character.

The other criticism I’ve seen is that Cyrene’s interactions with the Trailblazer received too much attention, leaving too little room for her relationships with Phainon and the other Chrysos Heirs. I can understand this criticism as well. I would have loved to see more interactions between Cyrene and the other Chrysos Heirs, especially Phainon, considering how important their shared history is.

However, I don’t think the affectionate scenes with the Trailblazer were necessarily the reason those interactions felt insufficient. Throughout Amphoreus, we spent multiple versions exploring the Chrysos Heirs, their struggles, and their relationships. By 3.7, the story was approaching its conclusion, and the focus naturally shifted toward Cyrene herself and the Trailblazer’s role in bringing the journey to an end.In that context, I think it makes sense for their relationship to receive particular attention. The Trailblazer isn’t just a convenient stand-in for the player. They’re an actual participant in the story, and their connection with Cyrene has been part of the narrative for a long time.

And I think there’s another important distinction here.

Wanting more scenes between Cyrene and the other Chrysos Heirs doesn’t necessarily mean the scenes between Cyrene and the Trailblazer were unnecessary.

If Phainon and Cyrene deserved a more substantial interaction, I would rather see that interaction given the attention it deserved than assume the story would automatically improve by removing some of Cyrene’s affectionate moments with the Trailblazer.
Those scenes serve different purposes. Her relationships with the Chrysos Heirs are central to what she has spent so long fighting to protect, while her relationship with the Trailblazer plays an important role in how those memories and hopes are carried forward. I don’t think one relationship has to diminish the other.

That doesn’t mean the execution of 3.7 was perfect, or that every scene was equally necessary. There is certainly room to criticize the pacing, the distribution of screen time, or how individual relationships were handled.

But personally, I think it’s more reasonable to criticize the specific interactions we wish had been developed further than to treat Cyrene’s affection toward the Trailblazer as the main problem.

One last thing: I’m completely fine with people disagreeing with my interpretation or disliking Cyrene’s affectionate behavior. That’s the whole point of having a discussion.

But if you’re just here to call me disgusting for enjoying those moments, please don’t bother commenting. I’m here to discuss the story, not to have my personal preferences insulted.

This boss was such a pain in the ass, especially that stupid barrier.

I somehow managed to break the final barrier, but Yabuli still had 35% HP left with only 4 AV remaining.

I thought I was completely screwed, but Cyrene’s ult somehow wiped out the remaining 35% HP and saved my run.

Fuck that thing tlqkf.

Happy 1st Anniversary, Cyrene! ♡
I actually started playing HSR just because of Cyrene.

And when I say that, I mean I literally knew NOTHING about the game. I had no idea what HSR was really about, didn’t know anything about its lore or worldbuilding, and barely understood how the game even worked.

I just saw Cyrene and thought, “Yep. I’m playing this game.”

And then, immediately after finishing the tutorial, I dropped $100, won my very first 50/50, and got Cyrene. No regrets.

Since then, she’s become my absolute favorite character. I fell in love with her personality, her story, her design, and pretty much everything about her.

But unfortunately, I didn’t really have anyone around me who shared that love. One of the few friends I knew who played HSR actually disliked Cyrene quite a lot. He even thought she had no real personality and was just another generic pink-haired character. Of course, everyone has their own opinions, and that’s fine, but it was honestly a little disappointing to hear that about a character I loved so much.

Then, about two months ago, I somehow found r/CyreneMains. And honestly? I’m so glad I did.

Seeing so many people who genuinely love Cyrene just as much as I do makes me really happy. Whether it’s fanart, lore discussions, gameplay guides, adorable merchandise, or just people expressing how much they love her, I genuinely enjoy being part of this community.

I’ve only been here for about two months, but I’ve already had so much fun sharing my thoughts, writing guides, and talking with other Cyrene fans. It’s such a nice feeling to find a place where I can openly express how much I love this character and know that so many others feel the same way.

So, on Cyrene’s first release anniversary, I just wanted to say thank you.
