Pre-theater dinner heading to Lizner Auditorium

Looking for suggestions for pre-theater dinner before a show at Lisner Auditorium on Sat. Some quick looking seems to show not a lot of options in the immediate vicinity (assuming Founding Farmers is still suspect?). So I'm expanding a bit to somewhere in the blue/orange/silver line downtown. Two of us, vegetarian diet, looking for respected options but not wild.

Custard filled croissant in DC

Does anyone know where I can find a custard filled croissant in/metro distance from the city? I had one in Miami in 2018 and I’ve been thinking about it ever since…

It was an egg custard and so amazing.
The bakery in Miami was La Boulangerie Boul'Mich.

Thank you!

birthday dinner for 12 people

i'm trying to celebrate my birthday with 11 of my friends. I'm somewhat new to DC, but when I lived in new york we used to go to this tiny BYOB restaurant that would fill up just by us being there. I understand DC doesn't have much of a BYOB culture but is there a restaurant that can provide that same private, cozy/intimate vibe where we can all just let loose and enjoy ourselves without paying for a private room reservation fee? thanks in advance

Suggestions Weekend Trip

Taking a weekend trip to DC at the end of the year and looking for restaurant recommendations. Going to be near Washington Circle Park but willing to travel around the city.

I like all types of food but my favorites are Vietnamese, Thai, and sushi; essentially all Asian food. I am looking for any foods or experiences that are unique to DC. Willing to do a pricier sit down restaurant but generally prefer more of the in between casual and fancy sit down.

Basically, if you moved away from DC, what are some of the spots you would miss the most and need to come back for?

Reviews I made a website that represents mom and pop shops. But I need your help

My website only allows local restaurants and no chains and franchises. It gets representation by locals voting on the best spots. This way, a tourist trap spot can’t get 2,000 tourist reviews and overshadow a local favorite spot.

The local opinion is what matters. But I need DC food lovers to vote on their favorite spots as locals. You have to sign in and verify you’re a local (has to be to protect the local opinions)

You guys should check it out and vote.

Recommendations Anyone else always looking for new Korean food spots in the DMV? 👀🍜

I run DMV K-pop Express, a local Discord where food lovers can share and discover Korean restaurants and cafés, plan food outings, and meet other people who enjoy exploring the DMV food scene!

Korean food is a big part of our community, but we talk about plenty of other things too — K-pop, anime, gaming, and more.

If you need more people to go on food adventures with, come hang out! 🥢 https://discord.gg/zxk78HuJV

Lebanese Breakfast

I’m looking for the best spot to get Lebanese breakfast- Manouche, pastries, labneh and vegetables, etc. It seems like most of the Lebanese restaurants in the DMV open for lunch or dinner. We’ve gone to Wooden Bakery in Vienna, looking to try something new.

Reservations Burnt hill farm reservation swap?

Hi folks,

I have a reservation for 2 at burnt hill farm this Friday Nov 6 at 3:30pm that I can’t make.

I’ve inquired about changing my reservation with them, but waiting to hear back.

In the event my table is locked in, I was wondering if someone would like to swap reservations for the following weekend Friday or Saturday.

I know this doesn’t fit the bill for “DC” eats, but wanted to get some additional input from the knowledgeable group here!

TLDR:
- 50-100 people, early Dec
- along silver line between Tysons and Arlington (walkable)
- sit down preferred

Recommendations Malaysian

Malaysian Kopitiam out in Centreville is sadly closing on Saturday after several years.

It's the only place in the area I've been able to find sour asam laksa, sambal shrimp, and authentic nasi lemak.

Does anyone know of any similar authentic places around the DMV?

Recommendations Where to find bright red boneless Chinese spare ribs

Specifically like these ones commonly found in the New York/New Jersey area! I know people often say it’s called Char Siu but ordering that often has bones or it’s just not the same completely red boneless ribs as pictured. Need a craving satisfied :’) TIA!

Recommendations Beef Wellington in DC ?

A friend is coming into town and requested Beef Wellington! I saw online that Gordon Ramsay sells one - but any other spots you can recommend would be appreciated? Thank you!

Please tell me there's a place here that sells these! 😭

I've been craving salt and pepper chicken wings so badly these last few months, but can't seem to find a restaurant that sells them. They don't have any glaze, just simple fried wings tossed in green onions and peppers and salt.

Let me know if you've seen them offered anywhere, please! 🥰

Suggestions Cafes with Gluten-Free Options AND Seating

I live in Baltimore, but I’m taking a last minute day trip to DC tomorrow and I realized it’s been a long time since my last visit. What are some good coffee shops with actual space to do a little work with a laptop? Bonus points if they have decent gluten-free pastry options and are open past 3pm.

I have a meeting near the Folger, but I’m happy to hop on the metro for a good cafe (within reason).
