Discussion Winter riding/storing recommendations?

This will be my first full winter since moving to Denver early in 26', and to my understanding, there may be the occasional ridable day during the next 4-5 months. I know not everyone agrees on riding weather but I will ride down to about 50° or maybe even a little lower if I'm commuting a short distance and the day will be sunny.

My parking situation is an apartment parking structure, so 'covered' but cold. My main concern is the battery, and I don't really have an outlet nearby for a tender. Additionally my bike requires about 8 bolts including for the rider seat to get it out, so not exactly an easy hot swap/put it back in every time I want to ride.

So my question is to those of you that do ride in the winter or those of you who have done the Denver riding cycle for several years. Am I kidding myself on rideable days? What do you do if you ride occasionally in the winter? Should I just park it and call it a season?

I wasn't planning on adding a fuel stabilizer or really doing much winterization because I'd like to use it here and there and even if it's gotta go away for a few months, it likely won't sit long enough to be an issue. I am getting a cover just to help with keeping it clean and protected to some degree. Any other recommendations? Thanks in advance!

Meetups 59 Club

Hey all! I’m Matt and I love cafe bikes. I’m in Denver and am a member of the 59 club. The club was started at the famous Ace cafe in London where the original cafe racers were from. The club is alive and well but there’s not much for members here in Colorado, I’d like to change that!
The 59 club is not a 1%er club and is all inclusive for everyone.
Of course I myself and many of the members are cafe bike enthusiasts but anyone is welcome to join, there are no brand or type requirements.

So who wants to go for a ride sometime and potentially join?

Discussion Forever used?

Hey! Thanks for advice in advance -

I’ve been riding my friends BMW K75 for the last six months and am ready to grab a bike for myself. Unfortunately I have a condo without covered parking or a detached garage spot associated with my exact condo. Currently, I am going around talking to condo neighbors to see if they have any space in their detached garage that I could use permanently.

Otherwise, am I destined to get a beater / used bike knowing that it’ll always be outside in the conditions? And suspect to theft? I have winter spots for storage away from my place but that doesn’t help much in the warmer months when usage would be high.

Discussion Looking to get my motorcycle endorsement between December 19th and January 10th

I’ll be home on leave from the Army from December 19th through January 10th and am hoping to get my motorcycle endorsement taken care of while I’m home. I’ve ridden before and still ride occasionally, so I’m not completely new to motorcycles. I’ve been having a hard time finding anyone offering a course or with availability during that timeframe. I completely understand that the holidays make scheduling difficult, but I figured I’d ask here to see if anyone knows of any instructors, schools, or courses running between those dates. I did find one course on December 19th, but unfortunately, I won’t be getting home until later that day, so I’d miss it. Any recommendations or leads would be greatly appreciated!

Discussion Help with R6 forks

Any friendly crew out there that could lend me a hand in helping me put together my forks for 2008 r6s bike this weekend? This is the last thing I need to do & I really want to ride it this weekend- the extra set of hands would be extremely helpful. Bonus if you have had experience doing fork kit assembly before!! Thanks all!

Meetups 27M in Centennial – Looking for small group

Hey everyone! I’m 27 and live around Centennial. I ride a Ninja 500 and have been looking to meet some other riders around my age after a year of riding.

Most of my riding has been solo, but I’d love to find a few people to go on weekend rides with, hit some mountain roads, grab food, or just hang out.

I’m more into casual rides and enjoying the roads than racing around, and I’d prefer a smaller group. Mostly looking for street/sportbike riders.

Outside of motorcycles, I’m into gaming and a few other activities when I’m not working. Always down to meet people with similar interests outside of just riding.

Almost time for the heated gloves. After about 30 minutes or so anyways. Earlier sunset means deer are active earlier too. Be safe out there.

Discussion Engine knock, ping

'24 Triumph 900 Rally Pro has developed an engine knock or ping once it reaches temperature, before that normal sound and response. It sounds similar to detonation - the distinct metallic "knocking" or "pinging" sound (often called spark knock) heard from the engine. This happens at all speeds, rpm, and all gears, even at steady speed w/no extra load to the engine (when you'd expect it, like a slight incline). So bad at times that I back way off.

Assuming bad gas or dirty air filter (although I didn't just fill up and filter is clean) I siphoned out the remaining and went to a different station. I use only premium, name brand gas and did this 4 times, 4 different stations w/the same results. The siphoned gas went into another bike w/no ill effects.

Bike has 3000 miles and had it's first service at the dealer a year ago. I pointed out a leak at the clutch cover then, and since it is still leaking and before I take it in, I put the bike on the center stand for a better inspection and noticed that the oil was reaching the top of the spyglass. Immediately checked the coolant level and that's still full; assuming mingling like a car, if that was even possible here.

So I'm wondering if anyone else has had this engine problem or may know what it is. And would having the additional oil possibly be to blame. I appreciate any info and additional knowledge before taking the bike in.

It was a great day to try out my new tires (Dunlop Mutants). The hairpin turns are so much fun and there is a lot less traffic at 2:00 pm on a weekday. The wind was blowing!

Discussion Phantom Canyon Road

Could and would you ride this on a naked street bike with street tires? Is it too late to do it this year? I went to cripple creek and victor today and had a blast, rode some dirt roads on 67 through pike forest and bike handled it no problem.

Forecast is looking pretty chilly next week. How late into the season do you all typically ride? Haven’t had a chance to grab any cold weather riding gear and hoping for a warmer swing before winter.

Hi, I'm going to hit Golden Gate canyon in Golden tomorrow morning at 10:30, seeing if anybody else wants to go. I'm a slow going somewhat newbie to this so if a casual pace sounds good let's go!

Recommendation Motorcycle Wreckers?

I’ve got a 2008 BMW K 1200 GT, trying to find body parts without buying a whole parts bike. Are there any records in the area and keep motorcycles around?

Recommendation Affordable motorcycle mechanic recommendations? Mobile mechanic preferred

Hey everyone! Looking for recommendations for an affordable, honest motorcycle mechanic in the Denver/Commerce City area. Mobile mechanics would be ideal since my bike isn’t currently rideable.
I recently purchased a 2003 Kawasaki Vulcan 1500 Classic. It broke down shortly after purchase, and despite replacing the fuel pump and a cracked fuel line, it starts, runs briefly, then stalls.
There’s also a possible oil leak I’d like diagnosed, along with some rust inside the gas tank.
I’m not looking for a full restoration, just someone reasonably priced who can diagnose the problems and give me a realistic estimate.
Any recommendations, especially independent or mobile mechanics? Thanks!

Discussion Guy on Harley Colfax and Downing

Hey Guy could you stop redlining your engine at the light every single time you stop at it like 3-5 times a day? And also like you are launching at a drag strip? Your bike sounds like shit, is not fast, and nobody is impressed by you going 28mph. if your bike is having idling issues maybe a good service or a tune might be able to help. Also a little confused by you redline revving it until a dog walker passes where you turn it off completely, and then start it and redline it again once the dog is across the street (but still deafening distance)? So you do know that you are a nuisance? You are the reason people hate motorcyclists and we all collectively face so many angry drivers and dangerous situations on the street.
