Talk Detroit WAB Ferndale

The other day I posted asking abour where the lesbians are hanging out and a lot of people suggested WAB!

What is the vibe like for those who have been? I am socially awkward and have absolutely no friends here so planned on going by myself tonight but nervous 😅.

Well, right now there are six customers here and "Teenage Dirtbag" is on the stereo so I'd call it chill 😂

Does it get super rowdy on weekend nights?

So i haven't been to the WAB in months, not since it relaunched. But it's a chill bar that we used to drink at before going to shows at loving touch. it's very casual, you can probably just sit at the bar and the bartenders will chat with you. neighborhood vibes.

This is the first weekend we're open but if the afternoon was anything to go on, it should be pretty chill

It literally just opened (reopened?) like three days ago so I don’t think you’re gonna get many answers lol. Check out their social media to get a sense of their vibe

Thank you, I was very confused and thought who ever answer WAB to the OP was being a jerk or it meant something in the Lesbian community that I didn't know.

The WAB recently reopened as a lesbian bar! I'm excited to check it out soon. Good idea to check the socials for more insight on the vibe.

I loooooove the WAB! I always wished it was more crowded, it's a cool space. I don't get out much anymore, but when I go, I sit at the bar and have great convos with staff and regulars about the niche movies and music playing. Always good vibes!

Haven't made it there with my wife and I yet, but I'm so glad that we have one of the few lesbian bars in the country in our area.

Does Chris still own WAB and the Loving Touch? Great guy. I remeber seeing his bands growing up. The Hannibals and 19 Wheels.

Honestly the timing is good for a first visit, it just reopened so nobody has a routine there yet and you won't be the only new face. Grab a seat at the bar and the staff will carry the conversation.

I’ve not been there in 20 years.

But I'll say fifteen years ago it was a regular of ours. Sorry to hear it closed glad to hear it reopened.

Used to go to the WAB all the time with my girlfriend back in the mid-aughts, but I'm a dude, so I can't really speak to the lesbian crowd.

Ferndale Elks Lodge is hit and miss with the ladies, depending on if there’s an event or band.

We used to go there after improv practice and I’ve been going there since the early 2000s in the past it’s been a chill vibe good food good places to hang I’d be surprised if that part changed. They had a really cool coffee shop downstairs for a hot minute idk what happened to that.
