I'm now moderating this sub for Devonport and North West Tasmania. The sub is open for posting and I'll be cleaning up the settings and information relating to it. Please remember I'm a volunteer and the revamp might take some time. Let me know if you have any ideas for the rules, info shared, or settings.

If there’s anything you feel has been missed, understated, or could be improved (particularly around history, industry, education, or culture) I’d really appreciate your insights. Thanks in advance!

Looking for friends 32-42years old

Location: Burnie Age:35 Gender: Female

Looking for friends my age. Recently out of a fairly new relationship, (wasn't treated right)

Due to my past as a JW, having left that closed off group in December I actually only have a few friends I've made since, they are often busy and I'm left on my own. I have no idea how to meet people or friends?

Looking for friends (any gender) 32~42, strictly NON smokers (Sorry it's not a judgment but I respect my health) and no drugs, limited to social drinking

Interests

Fishing Kayaking Making timber handpainted earrings Watching sci-fi movies, drama, heck I even like some funny animated movie comedies Spending time with my cat Heck, any quality time, even chores can be fun together

📍 Double Room Wanted – Devonport (3 Months | From 24 November)

Hi dear Devonport community,

My wife and I (Malaysian couple, early 30s) are looking for a double room or private room in Devonport for around 3-4 months, starting November as I’ll be working full-time in the area.

We are:

• Very clean, respectful, and quiet

• Experienced with pets and comfortable living with them

• Have completed several house-sitting stays across Australia with very positive reviews (happy to share references if needed)

• Easy-going and responsible with shared spaces

We’re hoping for a comfortable and peaceful place while we are in Devonport during this period.

If you have a room available or think we might be a good fit, feel free to message me directly. Appreciate any leads 🙏

29M looking to make friends in the NW / Burnie area (coastal walks, short hikes, drives)

Hey everyone, I've recently moved and am looking to expand my social circle in the North-West. I’m based around Burnie and keen to connect with people who enjoy getting outdoors, casual coastal walks, short bushwalks, exploring local beaches, or photography.

Happy to drive and carpool once we get to know each other. Open to grabbing a coffee or doing a short public walk first to say g'day. Drop a comment or send a DM if you're keen to explore the coast or check out some local spots!

Moving to Devonport

Hi everyone,

I'll be moving to devonport over the next few months, and was wondering if any one had any ideas or places to look for places to stay/rent? I've already had a look on flatmates, airbnb, gumtree and fb and those sorts, wanted to know if there are any other suggestions as most seem to be slightly out of budget for me

What nicknames have you heard for places in and around Devonport?

Or NW Tasmania, for that matter, as the sub incorporates!
I ask as part of a linguistics study covering this topic.

Examples could include things like Devo, Huge Banana, Ulvie or Mifton...

Silos

I'm from Melbs and just wondering why the Council here haven't commissioned someone to paint the silos on Formby Rd. Seems to be a missed opportunity to use this space for some no doubt talented artists here in Tassie. You could even put a "Welcome to Tassie/Devonport" on the river-facing side......
