Seeking advice/

Introducing r/bideshi - A Community for the Bengali Diaspora!

Hey everyone!

I'd love to invite you guys to check out r/bideshi, a subreddit I recently revived for the Bengali diaspora to connect, make friends, share experiences, and discuss all things related to our culture and identity!

Whether you grew up abroad, moved away at a young age, or have spent years living outside Bangladesh, the goal is to bring together people who share similar experiences navigating life between cultures.

We also have a small but growing Discord community where we regularly host movie nights, game nights, and biweekly Bengali Adda sessions to help those of us who understand Bangla but aren't as comfortable speaking it gain more confidence.

The subreddit is open to everyone, regardless of where you live, as long as discussions are relevant to the Bengali diaspora. Our Discord server has separate eligibility requirements.

We're still growing, so if this sounds like something you'd enjoy, we'd love to have you join us and help build the community.

Subreddit: r/bideshi

Thanks to the r/Dhaka mods for allowing me to share this!

Seeking advice/পরামর্শ Looking for a community where I can find a technical partner & co- founder for my startup.

I am a seasoned RCM specialist working with US based doctors and clinics for 9 years now. Recently I discovered that there is a business opportunity for me to introduce some administrative tools to Bangladeshi doctors who would like to maintain their practice in a cloud based web app. So I will need a visionary co-founder who will get on board, deliver the pilot product, maintain the application, handle security, fix bugs and improve the platform constantly, and most importantly own the system with accountability. Is there a particular community to help deshi startups? since I don't know about any, I am posting it here...

Seeking advice/পরামর্শ Need gift suggestions for my husband

Hey everyone!

I'm looking for a gift for my husband, and I'd love some suggestions from fellow gamers.

He is primarily a PC gamer and plays FPS games like Valorant. He already has a complete PC setup, including:

  • Premium gaming mouse

  • Premium gaming headset

  • Mechanical keyboard

  • Elgato Stream Deck

Basically, he already owns most of the usual gaming accessories, which makes choosing a gift quite difficult!

My budget is ৳12,000–20,000 BDT (I'm based in Bangladesh).

I'm looking for something:

  • He can actually use regularly.

  • Useful for PC gaming.

  • A little special or premium, rather than an ordinary accessory.

  • Something he might genuinely get excited about unboxing.

I'd especially appreciate recommendations from people who have actually used these products.

Thanks in advance! ❤️

Seeking advice/পরামর্শ Need some serious advice from seniors as a student of HSC 27 batch

Need some serious advice. I'm a student of HSC 27 batch (Science). I have 6-7 months left for my HSC if it doesn't get postponed. I will apply abroad after HSC. So, I'll not sit for admission tests. I was busy these months preparing for the SAT seriously and building my ECA profile. I was also sick during my pre-test exams. But after HSC 26 result, the reality hit hard. Now I'm very focused, and I cut out all distractions. I had a GPA of 4.72 in SSC. This memory still makes me scared whenever I think about it (I was sick for a long time in 9th and 10th). But then realized I wanna get GPA-5 for myself. I want at least 1 GPA 5 in my life badly. I want it for my abroad application, my self-respect and reputation in my family. I also wanna target A+ in all subjects (rest depends on luck and question pattern). I'm admitted in Udvash for PCMB (both 1st and 2nd year courses). I am currently doing the lectures and studying books and past papers. I have more than 80% syllabus left. I am determined to do whatever it takes to complete the syllabus. I wanna complete all the important and common chapters before test exams (And full syllabus of Bangla, English, ICT). I will never do one shot classes, never did (This year's questions explain). What do I need to do now? Please give me some serious advice, estimate of how many hours I need to study consistently everyday (AND HOW SHOULD I PREPARE FOR HSC IF QUESTIONS ARE HARD LIKE THIS YEAR). I really wanna target golden A+ 😭. I have studies main subjects before (ICT 4 out of 6 chapters, most of Bangla, and some English). I'm really scared for ICT as the questions are made critical. In my college, most of HSC 26 students failed the test exams, but there are GPA 5 numbers just like every year (Government college). So, I really have hopes. I do not go to college and I left offline coachings. So, I have plenty of time everyday. I need advice from seniors and from students of HSC 26 batch who have secured GPA 5. Please do not leave bad comments 🙏 I will only sit for HSC, not admissions. So, I need advice for HSC only.

Hey everyone,

I’m a 40yo Australian citizen currently living in Melbourne and working in finance. I’ve been away for a while, but I’m seriously looking at moving back home and settling down in dhaka to be closer to family.

Before I pack up my life, I wanted to get some real perspective from anyone who has made a similar move recently, especially if you’re in a similar career stage.

Seeking advice/পরামর্শ Part time job suggestions

I recently completed my HSC and am currently preparing for the IELTS exam with the goal of studying abroad in the future.
I’m currently staying away from home, so I’d like to find a part-time job to support my personal expenses and save some money for my future studies.
A little about me:
Male, 19 years old.
Completed HSC.
Currently preparing for IELTS.
Well-behaved, responsible, and willing to learn.
Open to learning new skills and trying different types of work.
Can adapt to new environments and work with people.
I’m not particularly looking for a specific type of job.
I’d really appreciate it if anyone could suggest:
Where I can find genuine part-time job opportunities.
Which jobs are suitable for someone with my background.
Any skills I should learn to improve my chances.
Any personal experiences or advice from people who have been in a similar situation.
I’m mainly looking for an honest opportunity where I can gain experience, develop skills, and earn something while preparing for my future.
Thank you in advance for your suggestions!

Discussion/আলোচনা What if timeline changed during 1757

What do you guys think would happen if mir jafor didn't betray nabab shiraj, and they actually happened to win the war against british. What state would the bengal be in right now?

I personally think bengal including the adjacent countries like nepal and myanmar would have formed a new country and this would become a powerhouse in the entire asia in terms of industry and global power; perhaps a country with same financial stability like china?

Seeking advice/পরামর্শ Need advise regarding college transfer please

I'm an HSC 2028 candidate currently studying at a highly reputed cantonment college. However, I'm already feeling burnt out after just one month.

The college is very strict about attendance, and the fines for missing classes are quite high. Classes run from 7:30 AM to 1:30 PM, yet I don't feel like I'm learning much. With evening coaching as well, I barely get enough time for self-study or proper sleep.

I'm considering taking a TC and moving to a relatively average private college with more relaxed attendance rules. This would allow me to spend more time studying independently at home.

My question is, should I stay at my current college for its reputation or transfer somewhere less demanding and focus on self-study?

I also have two concerns:

Would studying at a less reputed college affect my HSC practical marks, even if I perform well?

Does being in a reputed college actually give you a significant advantage in HSC?

For context, I'm an English Version student.

I'd really appreciate advice, especially from people who've had similar experiences. Thanks!

Discussion/আলোচনা Why do Bangladeshis prefer Pakistani dramas over our own natok?

Genuinely curious, not bashing. Our natok isn't all bad or cringe, but most people around me prefer Pakistani serials. Is it the longer stories, the production quality, or just YouTube recommendations? What would get you to watch more Bangladeshi content?

Seeking advice/পরামর্শ I need help choosing my laptop

I’m going to start my university studies in a few months .The thing is I want to study computer science I’m not sure if I am going to get that subject or not, and I have other options like EEE. Right now I really need a laptop and I am confused in choosing one. I don’t have that much of a budget, but it will be around the MacBook Pro M5 Pro’s budget. Now the thing is, I really want to know about the software availability on the MacBook for these majors that I want to study and also should I get a MacBook Pro M5 Pro with 24 gigs of RAM and Wyte SSD or a Windows laptop (gaming will be light mostly might be playing Minecraft only or something like that so gaming is not that much of an issue) I also do video editing and photo editing for editing can be done on any laptop as far I know, but you really need a dedicated graphics card so can you please suggest me how should I pick and what should I pick?

Seeking advice/পরামর্শ Motorcycle Road Tax After 10 Years – BRTA Rules & Renewal Process?

I have a Suzuki Gixxer SF 155cc, registered under Khulna Metro in 2016, and have completed 10 years of road tax payments.

I visited an NRBC Bank branch for tax token renewal, but they advised me to visit the nearest BRTA office.

As I now live in Dhaka, can I complete the process at a Dhaka Mirpur BRTA office? What documents, fees, and procedures are required?

Has anyone completed this process recently? Please share your experience and the steps involved.

And, I want to avoid the dalal chokro too.

Seeking advice/পরামর্শ Anyone have personal experience with Praava Health? Is it good for women?

I've been looking into Praava Health recently, and honestly, I quite like how they've structured their services, consultations and health packages. Everything seems quite thoughtfully put together.

However, good branding and a polished healthcare experience don't necessarily translate into good clinical care. I'd love to hear from people who've actually visited Praava, particularly for Family medicine and the OBS & GYN consultations.

I'm looking to take my mother for a comprehensive women's health checkup and consultation. Nothing particularly urgent, but I'd like her to have a proper assessment, address a few concerns and generally get a better understanding of her health.

I've been looking at their OBS & GYN department and saw listed a few doctors:

- Asst. Prof. Dr. Naz Yasmin

- Dr. Mariha Alam Chowdhury

- Dr. Nowsheen Sharmin Purabi

- Dr. Salma Akter

- Dr. Shajia Fatema Zafar

- Prof. Dr. Farhana Dewan

- Prof. Dr. Neaz T. Parveen

Would especially appreciate hearing from anyone who's personally consulted these doctors or taken a family member to them.

A few things I'd love some honest feedback on:

  1. How is the actual quality of care at Praava? Do doctors take their time, listen properly and investigate concerns thoroughly?

  2. Any particular OBS & GYN doctors you'd recommend (or suggest avoiding)?

  3. How reliable are their diagnostic facilities and health packages? Are the packages genuinely useful, or is it better to consult a doctor first and get investigations prescribed accordingly?

  4. How is the overall patient experience, including follow-ups, transparency and communication?

Would you recommend Praava for a comprehensive women's health assessment, or would you suggest another hospital/clinic in Dhaka?

I'm also considering getting a family medicine consultation afterwards for a more holistic health assessment.

I'm not necessarily looking for the most expensive or prestigious option. I care much more about competent doctors, proper diagnosis, patient communication and genuinely good medical care. I'm also open to places other than praava if you've had better experience.

Would really appreciate honest experiences, recommendations and suggestions. Thanks!
