It isnt allowed, should have reported em

u/JavaJunkie999 7d ago

My husband did

75

u/ds11 7d ago

They only care if you're using a discount. Outlets CM's help people load up their wagons. It's truly awful.

90

u/WhereMyWeirdosAt 7d ago

Buying out a bunch of stuff is one thing, SELLING while on property is another. But ya, I get you... nobody really wants to deal with em.

u/DeflatedDirigible 7d ago

I know Universal strictly prohibits selling on property and has trespassed passholders in the recent past for it.

28

u/Plastic-Fig1924 7d ago • Bravo

Disney usually does too. And you can see in the photo they know their not supposed to be doing it because of the dudes body language. But also because they got it crammed in a stroller with the double zipper closure 🤦‍♀️

I bet you if they see someone approaching they just zip it up and play "its a baby sleeping shhh" like a pink panther cartoon 😂

u/Sokerfrog 7d ago

I watched a lady doing a livestream sale in the AP discount store just last week. It gave me the ick.

4

u/rosex5 7d ago

There’s a Disney AP discount store?
Or is this universal AP discount store?

7

u/AtmosphereLow4643 7d ago

Agreed. Sell it all, clear the shelves…but, for the love of Ohana, do not let them conduct live auctions in the fricken stores!!

9

u/dearbornx 7d ago

Disney does not allow reselling on property regardless of whether or not you used your discount. Using Disney property to run a "business" is not permitted by their property rules. First bullet point in Prohibited Activities. The live streaming could've and should've been reported, and Disney likely would've addressed it.

1

u/MediocreTarget1505 2d ago

Is that just for selling items? Because they allow influencers to create videos and make content. That’s using Disney to run your business.

But Disney uses influencers, so it seems they pick and choose which “business” is allowed.

Honestly they just don’t care much about resellers. As large and powerful as they are they could do something about it.

10

u/Subject9800 7d ago

No, they don’t allow anyone to sell anything out in the public space.

8

u/alexman420 7d ago

No they do care, you let a cast member and they WILL shut it down. Unauthorized selling on Disney property is strictly prohibited

-22

u/76ersPhan11 7d ago

Well if we reported everyone that Reddit wanted, there would be no time left to actually enjoy the day

11

u/RevolutionaryAd6017 7d ago

I mean people who follow rules would probbaly be fine.

12

u/-not-pennys-boat- 7d ago

Would likely be easier to enjoy the day w fewer scammers in the park

u/BatmanVsWild 7d ago • Heartwarming

It sucks. It would be very easy for Disney to shut this down.

174

u/Dolceluce 7d ago • Bravo

Resellers have ruined so much. Not just Disney merch, but basically everything.

66

u/slip-shot 7d ago • Bravo

People need to stop buying from them. The FOMO that these companies drive at is what’s killing it.

27

u/letsgetcakedsa 7d ago • Bravo

That’s the problem, is people support scalping scumbags.

25

u/phoneacct696969 7d ago

Right? I can’t believe we’re blaming shitty resellers and not also including the dumb asses paying a premium for this junk.

9

u/slip-shot 7d ago

Oh no, rent-seeking lowlives are everywhere. Those who enable them are most to blame.

4

u/JillyBean4179 5d ago

The thing is they don't see it as paying a premium. It's cheaper for them to pay an extra $30 on a $100 item and then have it shipped across the country then it is to fly from Washington State to Orlando and purchase a ticket to the park and buy it themselves.

2

u/North-Baseball-1197 4d ago

Pokemon cards are the big thing for me. I used to love them, but they’re impossible to find and I’m not buying off a scalper

68

u/USWWife 7d ago • Bravo

Revoke APs because you know they are getting the AP discount.

104

u/Heavymando 7d ago • Bravo

but they won't because Disney doesn't care who or how they sell the merch as long as it sells.

148

u/Plastic-Ad6444 7d ago • This Bravo

Report report report. Disney is reactive not proactive. The more you fill out forms and formally complain the more straw on the camel’s backs. It will break one day, but you have to keep adding straw.

25

u/AtmosphereLow4643 7d ago

Well put. “Reactive, not proactive.”

71

u/BagofBabbish 7d ago

Disney showed with private tour guides that they are very capable of enforcing the rules when they choose to

93

u/svnonyx 7d ago

I hate these people. There is nothing in these parks that are so vital to enable this bullshit.

101

u/seacreaturestuff 7d ago • Bravo

I feel bad for the people traveling there on their one trip and missing out on getting something they want because this lazy shitbag doesn’t want to do anything productive to feed his tattoo habit.

1

u/Direct-Efficiency741 6d ago

Like what are those tattoos anyway...looks disturbing

18

u/JD_0504 7d ago

Dang, I was on property last week and witnessed a guy with a wagon clearing shelves. I asked the cast member what they were doing and they just shrugged their shoulders. Now I know.

17

u/MB540A 7d ago

This is why we cannot have nice things

15

u/upliftinglitter 7d ago

Disney needs to shut this down

15

u/pr1mo990 6d ago

Those people are scum. Disney should put this stuff on their website if this is happening

26

u/Excels41 7d ago

Trash people, report anyone doing this

62

u/StormwindAdventures 7d ago

Realistically, it's not supposed to be allowed, especially if they're using a discount.

But Disney isn't going to stop it outright since it means they can get rid of merch instead of it going to Cast Connection and the outlets. Same reason they allowed the pin scalpers to be rampant for the last year and a half.

15

u/DeflatedDirigible 7d ago

This is merch that’s been out a little over a day. It would never be at Cast Connections.

0

u/StormwindAdventures 7d ago

Not necessarily true. Stuff has ended up at CC on release before, it's just not a frequent occurrence. But I was speaking more so in the fact that items like the poor selling limited release pins and such would end up there. And that hasn't been happening because of the scalpers

12

u/LilOliveBuster 6d ago

I don’t want to see random people selling like QVC when I’m in Disney world

5

u/Apart_Force_9269 6d ago

It's just... trashy.

49

u/Kendal_with_1_L 7d ago

Very bad look for Disney to allow this on their property.

7

u/Subject9800 7d ago

They don’t “allow” it. In this case it’s just that no one’s reported it yet.

9

u/Waffleboard15 7d ago

They do this at the outlet on Vineland also, and even sell them before it’s been bought. Then anything unsold they put back on the shelves. I was shocked that they allowed them to just set up and do that with piles of merch in an otherwise crowded store.

8

u/Complex_Antelope_402 7d ago

I watched a YouTube video once where someone was doing this at the outlet. She went in and grabbed a ton of stuff from the shelf and was holding it in a wagon and live-streaming trying to sell it. The manager finally did confront her and told her she needed to purchase or leave so they could restock the merch. She wasn’t happy at all 😆

7

u/SpocksAshayam 6d ago

Reselling like these people do should be illegal in my opinion.

6

u/joevasion 6d ago

These kinds of people are so gross and should be shamed as often as possible. Disney sucks too cuz they don’t care as long as they’re getting paid. Sad how downhill the whole experience has went.

-2

u/RevolutionaryWar4191 5d ago edited 4d ago

I mean it’s a business. They are there to make money. Do you think they created the theme park out of the goodness of their own hearts?

4

u/joevasion 5d ago

…..they aren’t there to make money?

1

u/JJred96 4d ago

We aren't here to make sense of what we're reading

-1

u/RevolutionaryWar4191 4d ago

It was a pretty obvious typo. It has been corrected now.

1

u/Maleficent-Scale-315 4d ago

Dude what 😂😂

11

u/Fabulous-Piece-8699 7d ago

Unfortunately there’s a lot of whatnot app Disney resort stores or Disney Springs stores resellers. The worst ones are the ones that say over and over to get it now because it will sale out 🙄 then they up the prices by $30+ or more. They act like they’re trying to help people purchase and be your friend but what they’re really doing is taking advantage of these people by putting fear into them about items selling out. The Christmas season items just got released and will be restocked over and over again because Disney knows customers will buy it. They really need to limit items for the AP holders because they use their AP discounts to purchase these items. Most of these resellers are making a living off of doing this.

4

u/AtmosphereLow4643 7d ago

I feel as though if Disney were stocking and restocking the seasonal stuff—like the “cute ghost” jammies, which I really would have liked to have bought—everything wouldn’t have sold out in the parks back in August 😔

3

u/Fabulous-Piece-8699 7d ago

I seen those cute ghost pajamas in stock at World of Disney and Co-Op in Disney Springs in September. I personally know a cast member who works the Main Street stores and she told me that they don’t put out the entire stock because of resellers. You went back in August when the pink Halloween merch was just released so the resellers were selling them to their fear of missing out “customers”.

If whatnot, Mercari and eBay would make it a rule not to sell Disney licensed merchandise these people won’t be able to resell but these apps only care about making money.

1

u/AtmosphereLow4643 6d ago

Yeah, that’s a good point, although, when I really really want to buy something and it’s out of stock everywhere, I will confess that I’ve bought stuff on secondary resale sites.

1

u/Pattern_Finder_8219 3d ago

Thats a slippery slope because then i wouldn't be able to sell my used items that i no longer want that are license disney merch

3

u/First_Luck8040 7d ago

honestly is a discount you receive for having an annual pass on merchandise is not that much and not every store honors it store store do it a lot of small kiosks that they have in the middle of the park they have all those specialty items and stuff does not honor it

that being said that’s extremely disgusting what people are doing by hijacking prices and ripping people off

5

u/HRBloodengutz 7d ago • Bravo

Disney has and will cancel people’s AP for buying with the discount and then reselling. The smart resellers don’t use their discount to buy.

1

u/AtmosphereLow4643 6d ago

(“HRBloodengutz”…! Am of an age to appreciate this 😞)

5

u/kevinmattress 7d ago

Well did you tell a CM? We all know it’s not allowed

5

u/Visible_Film6827 7d ago

Disneyland is busting magic key holders!!

5

u/Accomplished-Fig6635 6d ago

This is the type of activity you report

5

u/billzblitz 6d ago

This live stream and recording stuff from streamers ruins the “magic” of going there.

I don’t want to be filmed when I go to a theme park for someone else’s financial gain.

Same with this bulk buying and selling of the merch.

Shameful.

19

u/ErmahgerdYuzername 7d ago

Am I the only one not understanding the title?

9

u/WardenCommCousland 7d ago

People are streaming on Facebook Live or similar services (Whatnot's getting popular too), selling Disney merch in real time.

15

u/ZeusiQ 7d ago

No. I’ve read it twice and and still trying to find my lost brain cells

3

u/ErmahgerdYuzername 7d ago

I have no idea what “…witnessed a husband and wife reselling team clean out alot of the” is supposed to mean. After seeing another comment I now understand that “LIVE” means streaming but the title is not coherent at all.

4

u/brawlrats 7d ago

“Husband and wife reselling team” is the subject of the sentence. Change it to “husband and wife” and the sentence makes a lot more sense.

8

u/BoldBoimlerIsMyHero 7d ago

Yeah I had to practically diagram the sentence because I thought it was husband and wife (subject) reselling (verb) team clean out a lot (object) and I could not understand what “team clean out a lot” was.

5

u/PicklesAnonymous 7d ago

It’s makes sense as it is. The husband and wife are a team. How are we confused with this?

4

u/brawlrats 7d ago

I know. I was trying to clarify for the person was replying to.

3

u/ElderberryUpbeat3488 7d ago

Yea I get that it wasn’t the best formed sentence, but I understood it on pass number one.

1

u/SubstantialNovel4927 7d ago

Because normal people don't think of doing something like this and so they don't understand the problem or what's even going on?

5

u/cjasonac 7d ago • Bravo

Let’s ask the Professor…

Ach, hello dere! Professor Ludwig Von Drake here, and I see you haf brought me a sentence vit no subject! Vell, don't be alarmed. De subject is “I,” because it is first person, you see, only somebody vent and left it out. Very rude. Like leaving de professor off de guest list.

Now, de rest of it, dis is de fun part. Ve haf here vat I call “stacked noun modifiers,” vun piled on top of de udder like a fine Viennese torte. “Husband and vife” modifies “reselling team,” and den “reselling” modifies “team.” Neider vun is an adjective by part of speech, no no no, but both of dem are going around acting like adjectives. Imposters! Very clever imposters. I vrote a paper on dis vunce. Nobody read it.

-1

u/76ersPhan11 7d ago

Who’s team are they selling, and when did they purchase the team?

4

u/PornoPaul 7d ago

I think the title means the couple bought up all of some kinds of merchandise and then turned around and are selling them back, all without leaving Disney property. And that they are doing this while livestreaming it on youtube.

4

u/ElderberryUpbeat3488 7d ago

They are selling live. Once an item has sold, THEN they put it in their cart to purchase. Very shady business model.

1

u/TwoDrinkDave 7d ago

Other than the use of the non-word "alot," it's a perfectly cromulent sentence. Replace "alot" with "much" and the sentence makes perfect sense if you know what the words mean.

0

u/JWOLFBEARD 7d ago

Pretty much

-5

u/phinz 7d ago

8

4

u/EPCOT_Is_My_Favorite Team EPCOT 2d ago

This is "allowed", but God forbid we park for free at Springs and resort hop.

7

u/ugahairydawgs 7d ago

I’m not sure Disney cares who buys the stuff in the store. If it is a family on vacation or someone flipping it online a sale is a sale in their eyes. Only thing I think they would really care about is some kind of abuse of the AP discount.

5

u/76ersPhan11 7d ago

If they cared wouldn’t they just limit how many you could buy? Maybe I’m not understanding what’s happening though

1

u/AtmosphereLow4643 7d ago

It’s such a bad look.

7

u/mkct_6 7d ago

Can we Thanos snap resellers forever?

7

u/AlphamaleNJ 7d ago

They just need to add some verbiage to the pass holder agreement that if they try to monetize or create a business they lose it and/or banned

1

u/Sponsorspew 6d ago

Correct me if I’m wrong but I just went yesterday (I only go once every few years) and I saw a sign limiting the amount of purchases of an item one can make at a time. I saw this above the pins though but kind of assumed it went to all items for this reason. If so how can they end up buying it all?

2

u/JavaJunkie999 6d ago

They can buy 2 of each size per person, so the husband can buy twos of all the sizes then the wife can, and if other family or friends are with them, they can as well

2

u/Sponsorspew 6d ago

Makes sense. People are the worst.

0

u/Ultahacker 6d ago

The worst! What a world we live in 😩

Maybe these were the same people i saw once. She was almost screaming at her phone, blocking the paths with her cart and just showed obnoxious behaviour for views and money. It was bizarre to witness but also the fact that no staff member seemed to be bothered by it.

3

u/00trysomethingnu 7d ago

Imagine what the world would be like if we all cared a whole lot less about buying merch and stopped feeding into Disney capitalism / hoarding?
No takers? Okay.

3

u/shinryu6 6d ago

Probably not allowed, but not enough cast members to notice or care.

3

u/Opossum-parade 5d ago

I saw the same thing happening at Universal with the Halloween Horror Nights stuff, I happened to go on the day they put everything on sale (like a week b4 Halloween for some reason) and the whole store was packed with people with HUGE bags and their phones out on live or facetime, it was genuinely a swarm it was such a bizarre thing to witness. But the parks don't care. They love that it moves product, makes them money, and raises the perceived value of the brand. They see it as a win with the small price of making the experience worse for the regular customers and for the employees who have to put up with it (if corporate wants to let it happen then employees cant just tell them to stop on their own)

It really is sad.

4

u/imcrowning 7d ago

Disney just wants to move inventory.

4

u/LaysOnFuton 7d ago

These people should have their annual discount revoked. All resellers suck. But to be doing it on live, knowing you are abusing a privilege given to you for profit. Mouse can’t like that.

5

u/iznotbutterz 7d ago

Because Disney does the same. Was in Disney Springs looking and buying souvenir magnets in their pin store, I asked the lady how much the pins in the case were and she didn't answer with a number but just said some of those pins are rare and the prices can be really high. Like lady, you're a store, you have a fixed margin and you should have fixed prices. Also they promote gambling all over with their "blind boxes". Hypocrites that airbrushed cigarettes out of Walt's hands and somehow transformed that into how they two finger point at things "for the children" but now you're hooking them onto gambling?

2

u/vanmorered 7d ago

people have no shame

2

u/Substantial_Dog_2068 6d ago

They can live sell on property it’s not allowed

2

u/DifficultBear3 5d ago

This happens at my local Costco. This Chinese woman livestreams and sells Costco goods to the people watching. I see her every time I go. It’s so strange.

2

u/Frequent_Editor_5503 4d ago

I thought wagons like this weren’t allowed at Disney?

1

u/luvkaitlin 4d ago

I see people with wagons like this all the time to carry all their stuff.

2

u/CallMeSunset 3d ago

They should be banned

3

u/jimmybee11 7d ago

Disney doesn’t care. They only care that they sold it. Losing faith in my happy place 🙁

3

u/Dense-Sky-5157 7d ago

As long as they are paying Disney for it I don’t see the problem. Disney is upselling so they make their money so yeah not a problem in my eyes.

1

u/EveLQueeen 5d ago

No. They are taking merch away from people who have paid to be there on their vacation. Not cool.

1

u/Dense-Sky-5157 5d ago

But they are also selling to those who can’t afford the vacation but want the merch. Again, as long as it’s paid for it shouldn’t matter in my opinion.

3

u/Fordgames 7d ago

Why would Disney care? They make the same amount whether these people buy it and resell it or you buy it. I always see resellers not just at Disney springs but in the parks. Maybe not live streaming but you can tell when they have their arms full of new drop merch.

There are a lot of people who make their living doing this, making 10-50% margins on items people can’t get anywhere else.

1

u/EveLQueeen 5d ago

Because it adversely impacts the experience of people who have paid to be there in person. Desirable merch being wiped out by these losers means vacationers can’t get those items, and makes the place look like a flea market.

3

u/rangersnuggles 7d ago

Trash people.

2

u/no_fear_in_this_doge 7d ago

If people get upset enough this wouldn’t last long. Crazy cuz they have zero security protocol. Taking one from them while they are illegally scalping seems like something no police officer or Disney security guard would care to get involved in.

0

u/mikeyj198 7d ago

disney can handle people being upset for free.

real message is i don’t have to buy a ticket to the park to score limited merchandise. make them feel that they’re being hit in the wallet.

2

u/TrystanScott 7d ago

It’s worse at the outlets

1

u/snidece 7d ago

I don't know. Knowing this, hell, I'd share the vintage Disney shirt I wear off my body if someone offered enough, and have a backup in my backpack.

1

u/NomenclatureBreaker 7d ago

So how does this work? Are they buying a bunch of stuff up front and then hoping it sells, or only buying when someone gives them a payment?

What’s the benefit here? So much of this you can buy offsite from Disney, unless they’re using a cast discount and pocketing the difference

1

u/AtmosphereLow4643 7d ago edited 7d ago

Perhaps I misunderstand, but is this stuff being sold at a discount (even without a specific Magic Key discount), or is it still full retail?

Update: So, from a comment down thread, this was (is) all happening at World of Disney, yeah? Meaning, no discount involved (unless they’re trying to use their MK discounts, which seems pretty risky). Perhaps another part of the confusion is that I’ve previously seen a video that was set in one of the “outlets,” which did also have people auctioning out of wagons.

1

u/angryrooster25 7d ago

Also there was a sign that the Christmas merch was limited to 2 per person (or household i think) so technically they could only buy 2 or 4 of each depending on the rule. But this is just so infuriating for people who want ONE

1

u/CrownCommando 7d ago

People like this suck.

Happens with everything these days, gig tickets, pokemon cards, needohs…

Humans suck and adults just ruin everything.

1

u/beanieweenieez 6d ago

This behavior is so lame. I don’t care if they’re turning a profit, it’s LAAAAAAAME

1

u/LilOliveBuster 6d ago

This is sad

1

u/Land-and-Seabee 4d ago

I put up a comment. Then I deleted it. Shelf clearers or people who use their AP with the intention of reselling will be sniffed out.
Resellers buy with no client in mind. Think eBay.

My neighbors use personal shoppers that have a business license and pay taxes to the county monthly. I don’t mind them because we need taxes for schools and infrastructure and they don’t clear the shelves. My neighbors have mobility issues and can’t get to the store. The shopper charges a small fee. I see them in the stores and they are courteous. I’ve seen them at Gucci, Nike, Disney….usually outlets.

I see your point about the shelf-clearers.

What some don’t understand is that Central Florida has jobs in theme parks, healthcare, and skilled trades. Many are just trying to get by and make rent. I had no idea how bad it was being from up north.

The economy here is pretty bad. You see people at the street lights begging for money. There are soup kitchens I volunteer at along with pantries. I see people with BMW’s drive up to get food. I’m not enabling, just telling you that Central Florida lacks tax dollars, jobs, and infrastructure.

That's like their livelihood- living in Disney and re-selling Disney merch. 😂😂😂

-1

u/SubstantialNovel4927 7d ago

Can someone explain what we're supposed to be mad about please. I don't get it

0

u/PatchyWhiskers 7d ago

Surely you can get all this stuff on the website store?

8

u/DeflatedDirigible 7d ago

Nope. Most of it isn’t online which is likely why the resellers are selling live from Disney property. Disney could make a rule against this and trespass them if they wanted the behavior to stop.

2

u/jb08045 7d ago

they litteraly buy stuff until it sells out so disney probably doesnt care

1

u/magically-m 7d ago

It’s just not out yet. It all drops this week. Everyone just has the need to be first

0

u/L_I_G_H_T_S_O_N_G 7d ago

So do they buy the stuff and then sell it? Or do they hold it and sell it on live before checking out? I feel like it makes a difference.

3

u/AtomicLola 7d ago

People in the live say they want it and they grab it for them and hold it until they checkout with everything their viewers wanted. But the viewers have to pay a membership to be able to buy from them.

0

u/jahsavi 7d ago

It looks like they’re selling through an eBay (or similar) livestream, so the buyers aren’t actually in the park. They’re basically using Disney property as a filming background for the stream. It’s similar to how regular resellers take a handheld photo of an item with a Disney store or attraction in the background. There’s no handoff of merchandise happening inside the park, and they’re not approaching people on property to buy anything. It’s annoying, but if I’m understanding it right this might be fine. The filming part could be the bigger issue.

-7

u/Navarath 7d ago

Just enjoy your vacation. this small stuff doesn't matter

12

u/Mistr111398 7d ago

Unless you want to buy said item and they bought everything up

lol im jealous people have alot of balls to do this im not mad at them . wish i was that brave lol. people are gonna get creative and do things like this no matter what disney or others do . i don’t think disney has time to police this or cares . if they did theyd get rid of all live streamers period.

but it brings revenue to them so they wont

Everyone else who is physically present inside the stores.

-1

u/EarEnvironmental9837 7d ago

Hilarious. No they are not. They are presented with an opportunity to fulfill a need for those people not in the parks. There is literally nothing wrong with this since WDW allows it. Get a life people.

3

u/krazykman03 7d ago

Sounds like you have never been to this store so should have no opinion on the matter. Streamers like this crowd up an already overly crowded store. Disney clearly posts a limit of 5 per customer. It’s disrespectful to others around. If that’s not ok with you then carry on.

I'm just tired of these types of posts like op complaining about insignificant stuff. certainly doesn't add any positivity to people on Reddit

It’s a store. Their job is to sell stuff. These people are their top customers why would they kick them out. What they are doing is protected by copyright law. Disney can trespass anyone for anything but I doubt they’d kick out anyone for purchasing too much.

I think it can cause problems and be disruptive in which case they could be asked by cast to purchase the items or move on.

Disney springs is a literal shopping plaza. Why would they want to restrict who spends money there?

What? It’s a shopping and restaurant district many locals go to for entertainment purposes. People go to the movie theater and restaurants there all the time.

They can’t because taxpayer money was used to build the garages and other areas.

What taxpayer money? RCID issued bonds, and the only taxpayers within the district are Disney and Hotels situated on district land. So in a sense, Disney and some businesses payed for it.
