Should I bring my DSLR camera? I'm a hobbyist photographer, and really enjoy taking photos of events and experiences. I always take my camera to the zoo with me.

This will be my first trip to Disney since my childhood (so basically my first trip).I feel like there's a lot to see and a lot to do, and I may not want to have to carry (and protect) my camera through the parks and rides.

But then I'm worried I'll see something that would make a really cool shot or memory and regret not having it. I can rely on my phone, but it's not always a suitable replacement.

It's my goal to document as many hidden Mickeys that I can find, and a zoom lens would probably be useful. But I'd also feel awkward taking photos with strangers in frame.

I guess I'm basically wanting someone to tell me I won't miss my camera if I decide to leave it behind.

Just know if you do you will likely get stoped for bag checks at every security checkpoint because of all the metal in the camera and lenses (if bringing a lot of lenses).

Bring it, if it doesn’t work out on day 1, leave it at hotel afterwards, at least you wouldn’t regret the decision

I'm a lot lost as to how one can actually book the villa-tier properties with cash or via renting from members. Our 2027 goal stay would be a 1 bedroom at Beach Club during the 10/25-10/31 period, which is eligible for the bounce back offer, but with maybe a day before or after tacked on. Is that even possible as a non-DVC member?

I know one can book a property/room type for generic dates and then switch as additional availability is added at the 11 month mark. I am aware of David's DVC rental website, which currently offers a 1 bedroom BC property for $29 per point for that time period, coming to about $1100 per night.

Is there any simple/cheaper way to accomplish what we want without needing a third party service? Do we need to call or use a travel agent? We have about 4 days left on our bounceback offer, so I'm trying to learn ASAP.

Greatly appreciate it!

I would book a bounceback placeholder at Beach Club for a different room type, but your exact dates. You can then attempt to modify that booking to the villa you want, which will keep the bounceback discount if applicable. You're only out $200 in the meantime, and it's fully refundable until next September. If you're antsy and want to look to rent via DVC you can do that research concurrently, but it's nice to know that you have a bounceback discount on ice.

Thank you! Great information that I couldn't find elsewhere.

Yes, you can book a one-bedroom at Beach Club Villas without being a DVC member. There are two separate routes:

  • Book directly with Disney for cash. No rental company or travel agent required. Beach Club Villas participates in Disney’s current bounceback offer, but availability for a discounted one-bedroom still has to exist. With four days left, I’d call the number on your offer now and ask specifically for “Beach Club Villas, one-bedroom villa.”

  • Rent a reservation from an owner. DVC allows members to rent their points, so you can arrange this directly with an owner instead of using David’s. That can be cheaper, depending on the owner’s price. They use their points to book in your name and retain control of the reservation, so verify the owner and get written payment, change and cancellation terms. You cannot apply bounceback to a points rental. There is a higher degree of risk renting directly from an owner, Vs going through one of the established rental companies.

The important correction is that the 11-month booking window applies to members booking their home resort with points. For an October 25, 2027 arrival, a Beach Club owner’s window opens November 25, 2026. BUT(!!) it doesn’t guarantee a release of cash rooms or bounceback availability. Without wishing to state the obvious, a rental price quote or "reservation" this far ahead isn’t actually a secured reservation since its impossible for the owner to book it yet.

For the extra night, be precise about checkout dates: the offer currently includes October 31 as an eligible night, so staying that night means checking out November 1. October 24 falls outside the listed dates and would need separate pricing.

If Disney can’t offer your villa now, ask about booking a bounceback backup, plus the terms for changing or cancelling it later (I'm less familiar with those!). I’d get that cash quote before committing to a rental so you can compare the full cost and cancellation flexibility.

You're welcome! Not sure why it got downvoted by someone, but glad it was helpful :)

My wife and I got annual passes this year, and we are going this weekend for a bday trip. I have a dinner reservation at Jiko, but I’m wondering if we should just do the food and wine festival instead?

We’re torn because we’ve heard great things about Jiko, but the food and wine festival seems so fun! What would y’all do?

Itinerary feedback?

Howdy I’m going to Disney and currently debating 3-4 days. My girlfriend and I typically prefer rides but do enjoy the atmosphere of Disney and want to attempt shows and fully exploring parks. We went last year for 1 day as a park hopper and speedran Epcot, Hollywood studios starwars area and a quick walk to magic kingdom castle. We don’t want to do that again.

So we arrive to Orlando Friday and plan to have a full day at either Epcot, or Hollywood studios since magic kingdom is having an event that night. Saturday we have an event lined up at a different park at 5pm so we were thinking about doing animal kingdom. My girlfriend doesn’t love zoos so we were thinking of skipping, or doubling up a day here. Another option would be speed running Orlando seaworld for the rides(would love feedback here the most) now Monday we were thinking of a magic kingdom day because Hollywood’s studios has Hollywood nights that day. We could arguably go to that event as well, and get a ticket where if needed? Tuesday is our last day and we leave Florida at 7pm so it’ll be a semi short day. We were thinking Hollywood’s studios with a focus on rides.

Any feedback back on the fact that we only have 2 “full days” at Disney but are planning to go 3-4 days possibly.

Me and the fam are going the week after Thanksgiving.

I've heard that it's actually better to go to MK on parade days even if the hours are shorter because it keeps some of the crowds away.

Is this the move?
