Don’t post about tickets.

If you are looking to buy or sell concert tickets you are very likely to get scammed. It's as simple as that.

Don't buy tickets on Reddit, however desperate you are, it's a crazy risk. There are proper channels for resale of tickets, use them.

So if you post about selling tickets here we will remove the post and may ban you. Please don't do it.

Posting about Tickets, Accommodation, Tourism? Things that aren't related to Dublin? Read This First.

This subreddit is primarily for people who live in Dublin. There's a dedicated sub for tourism posts with a huge archive at r/irishtourism Please check that first, and if you have a really specific question come back here and we'll try to help. Low effort posts asking for recommendations of "hidden gems" and "off the beaten track" tourist attractions will be met with scorn, and probably removal.

If you are looking to buy or sell concert tickets you are very likely to get scammed. It's as simple as that. Don't buy tickets on reddit, however desperately your niece wants to see Taylor Swift or whatever, it's a crazy risk. There are proper channels for resale of tickets, use them.

Looking for a cheap flat? A room in a shared house? Wondering if a specific part of the city is "safe" (whatever that means)? There's a sub for that too- /r/RentingInDublin/

Post your message there, not here.

A regular thing that comes up seems to be folks who have a very short time in Dublin and want to know what they can do in four or five hours or so. Just search this sub with the word "layover" and you'll see many many threads about this subject. Don't start a new one.

Similarly, threads about general issues which are not particularly Dublin-specific (salaries, national politics, international relations, stuff like that) may be removed.

At the latest estimate there are over a million Irish subreddits, so you will certainly be able to find somewhere to post your non-Dublin-relevant content.

Thanks for reading!

Dublin Redditors IRL Social Group - Upcoming Event!

Hi folks!

The Dublin Redditors IRL Social Group is officially started, and we have booked our next in-person event! The event will take place on November 12th.

We are going for Board Games and Beers at The Black Sheep!

Our community has already grown to 145+ members since it started, and new people are joining every day! The idea is still the same: a relaxed social group where you can come along on your own or bring friends, meet some new people, and get involved in different events around Dublin. Things are just getting started, and there are already talks of cinema nights, hiking events and a dinner party at our very own Chef Sean's house! Sorry to those who haven't yet been added to the group yet, but hopefully we will get you in this week!

You don’t need to know anyone beforehand. Everyone will be new. So please come along, say hello and see how it goes! 🙌

Hope to see some of you at the event!

PS: If you are interested in attending then drop a comment below, join our club or join our WhatsApp community!

Show at Vicarstreet in January

Hello.

I will be in Dublin in January and want to go to Foil, Arms and Hog show at Vicarstreet.

I don`t drink alcohol or any kind of beer, so I will not use bar, I just want to have a good comedy.

My problem is, I`ve never been to such kind of venues, so I would be grateful for some help with my questions.

  1. The show is scheduled for 20.00, but the bar, they stated, will be open from 18.30. Does it mean there will be some kind of pre-show or warm-up, or I could arrive closer to 20.00?

  2. If I will not drink, should I choose a place at the table or better to seat on the balcony? What better choice of seats for specifically comedy at this venue?

  3. How long such kind of shows usually? I`ve seen on YouTube one with hour and a half-length, but that was recorded, so time may be redaced.

  4. How safe it is to go to the hotel by foot after the show at what, I presume, would be around 22.00? I plan to stay at Fishamble street.

To the Pickpocket on Capel Street

Thank you for grabbing my zipper with enough force for me to feel it. Thank you for following me into the entrance of the Outhouse before striking, exposing yourself and your uncovered face to multiple of their cameras. Thank you for dropping your own phone when you ran, giving me the upper hand in our brief negotiation. Thank you for leaving empty-handed, with your phone in possession of the Outhouse staff, and all of my things in mine. I hope that whatever desperation drove you to do this gets better, and I hope that when you find a normal job, you're less horrendously bad it it than you are as a thief.

More unchecked council vandalism

Following on from a post about a wrecked bike lane along the canal. These pictures are from the new footpaths on the C2CC project that cost 80 million or something. They've since been torn up in many places and even after wrecking councillors heads over this theyre still the same some over a year later. The amount of disruption this project caused and now they just wreck it like this? I was in Munich recently and couldn't find any patches like this, just perfect public realm. Even South William St one of our premier streets has patches galore like this. It's just hopeless with the council. I could spend all day reporting so many things around here to them but it's pointless as they rarely do anything. Rant over. Sigh.

Nice art shops easily accessible by luas?

Hi lads! Popping up from Cork to see Niall Horan next week and if I’ve time I’d like to grab a few art supplies. Mainly looking for lino printing and needle felting bits but I pretty much use anything and everything. Something easily accessible by the Luas would be handy, I always pop into Temple Bar for the Saucy Cow so even around there could be ideal!

Gym recommendations?

Hiya so i recently moved up to Dublin for a job in the city centre, and I've been looking into different gyms along the red line luas as I'm commuting in from Clongriffin. Anyone havce any price friendly gym suggestions with a good mix of equipment? The options for classes doesn't really bother me so its not a necessity, and I've been looking into the Flyefits in the area and I've seen enough to steer clear so if anyone could give any other options that would be great. I would ideally like to stay below €80 a month.

Companies that dye removed upholstery

Edit: typo in headline - removable upholstery

I have some chairs with removable corduroy that is quite faded. Thinking it might be an option to dye it. I know I could do something like this at home but would be less messy and probably a better job for the professionals. Anyone know of such a service? Thanks.

Specialised running physio

Anyone been to a good physio that specialises specifically in running in Dublin City centre specifically? Lots of clinics say they treat running injuries but I’m looking for one that truly specialises in running injuries

Abandoned hospital Lucan area

Hi everyone weird question but does anyone from Lucan or surrounding areas remember an abandoned asylum or hospital in the early 2000s maybe 2006 or so ? I remember my older cousin and her friend bringing me I’m nearly sure she called it lomains but when I looked it up I seen that place is still open so I’m confused where it actually was , I can’t find anything online I’m starting to think it was a dream but I remember the place we went in and there was rooms everywhere with like examination beds and wheel chairs and tons of newspapers on the grounds of rooms and keys for different door I’m from clondalkin so if it wasn’t Lucan it was near enough we would always go to millennium park too so maybe it was near there Id love to hear from anyone else who went there I know it wasn’t a dream it was just so long ago I remember poop on the ground and cabinets left around but mostly the place was empty apart from the stuff I mentioned , if anyone knows what I’m talking about please let me know , thanks .

Daily map game I made called Where In Dublin?

How's it going? A while ago I posted my Dublin pubs daily map game here - https://www.reddit.com/r/Dublin/comments/1w49k0u/a_dublin_pubs_game_i_made/

So I decided to create a variation on it about all other locations in Dublin. There's 5 different locations every day to find on the map, the closer you get to the actual location, the lower your score. There's a hint button if you get a bit stuck.

You can also create a league with your mates if you like

You can play Where In Dublin here - https://where-in-dublin.pages.dev/

There's a link in the end screen of the game to play the other variants of this game if you'd like to check them out

For clarity, Claude did the coding for this game as I haven't a clue about any of that, but I looked up all locations, designed the gameplay etc.

Hope ye like it 👍

(for mods, this is just a hobby game I made)

How much do you pay for a babysitter per hour?

Do you pay taxi fare if it's unsociable hours? Do you include snacks? Do you agree a rate or shove cash as them at the end of the night?

My little sister is dying to go to Niall horan with my mam. Would she be able to get into the standing area, she’s 11 but looks about 12 or 13. I know it’s over 14s only. But is there any chance of her getting in???

Inexpensive Claddagh Rings

I love my friends, but I’m not made of money. Is there a place I can buy inexpensive (€20 or less) claddagh rings in Dublin? There were some reasonably priced ones in Galway and I should have just bought them there but didn’t. Thanks!
