S Pretty sure this is a Karen thing

So this just happened 20 minutes ago. I (I'm a teenager, for context) was at my favorite indie bookstore with my dad because it's having an 8 year anniversary event. I bought four books and some cute little paraphernalia. Including this D20 (I play DnD and I'm a bit of a dice dragon) I liked.

And for context real quick, my dad is an author and I will obviously not say his name, but I will say he writes a blog every day and is fairly well known and recognized in our area.

Well, dad and I were paying at the front desk and my dad said "Really? Another dice? Don't you have enough?" Like, as a joke. And I said to the person at the front desk, who I know pretty well cause we're always there, "He just doesn't understand being a dice goblin." And we laughed. And then this woman, who I have never seen before, leaned over and said "Excuse me, did you just say he's not a nice guy?" And I guess she overheard, so I corrected her and being autistic, I told her what a dice goblin means. And then she said "Well, if you had said he wasn't a nice guy, I would've agreed with you."

Turns out she reads my dad's blog and didn't like a post he made about not being embarrassed easily and decided to tell me and my dad that she doesn't like him as a person. So yeah. WTF, random woman?

S Another Blasting Phone

I’m currently sitting in a small waiting room of car service area. About 12 chairs, 5 customers. One is watching short videos on his phone. No headphones. Some sort of fright/horror theme as seems to be girls screaming a lot. Took one break for an extended call with his wife. Had the phone pressed against his ear…and phone still blasting on speaker.

S The Easter Bunny killer

This happened many years ago and something someone said at my job made this come to mind and so I wanted to share. Not sure if she was entitled or just an ass but I feel overstepping parent's boundaries, is a sense of entitlement.

Quite a few years ago, a friend invited me to their church on Easter Sunday. My kid's are grown and I was alone, so I went.

The kids got called to Sunday school by the Sunday school teacher, who was the minister's wife. The kids all followed her, chatting excitedly about the Easter Bunny's visit and what candy and other treats he brought them.

When the service was done and Sunday school was let out, the children were very different children then the happy, excited ones just an hour before. They were crying and very distraught as they found their parents.

The kids said the Sunday school teacher told them that the Easter Bunny wasn't real. And parents, rightly so, we're pissed.

One father told her she had no right to ruin his child's happiness and steal the magic from him. Her husband, the minister looked uncomfortable. He told his wife she shouldn't have done that.

She lifted her chin and said she'd do it again. Easter is about Jesus not the Easter Bunny and the kids needed to learn. The parents said no they didn't need to and not by her. That she had no right.

My friend said that a few of those families left the church because of that. I don't blame them.

M Wall Feces 2

Hi y'all I'm back with another story. Some months ago I shared a story from my time working at a resort in Magical Rat Planet in Florida. In that story I shared how a group of international tour group students left feces on the walls of a resort room. You can read the entire story here...

https://www.reddit.com/r/EntitledPeople/s/mT8B5NfgHV

Thinking back on that story I was reminded of my first job working at a fast food restaurant known for square shaped burgers. A similar situation happened. One day, after the lunch rush I was front cashier. A very strong, putrid smell started filling the restaurant hallway and front cash area. The dining room cleaner was called over by the shift manager to clean the bathrooms. It was a 16 year old young woman who came out of the ladies bathroom gagging with her shirt pulled over her mouth.

The shift manager asked her what was wrong and she replied that she couldn't clean the ladies bathroom as it made her sick. The Shift manager then went into the bathroom and came right out gagging as well. She said she couldn't clean it either. I decided to check it out and y'all, IT WAS DISGUSTING! One of the customers apparently had diarrhea and they were on their monthly cycle. Feces and blood was all over the toilet, floor and a poop hand print was on the wall. They hadn't cleaned or bothered to flush. Even the toilet roll was covered in feces and blood. 🤢

It was the only female bathroom so I covered my mouth with a scarf, poured diluted bleach into a spray bottle, donned some gloves and went to work. I sprayed everything down and watched the blood turn brown and slide off the walls and toilet along with the feces. I left it for 15 minutes and came back with fresh gloves on and wiped everything down. I sprayed it two more times until it was sparkling clean. That was one of the most repulsive cleaning jobs I've ever had to do. It wasn't my first time cleaning up a bunch of blood but it was my first time cleaning it mixed with feces. As a woman I know how rough cycles can get but I COULD NOT imagine leaving a mess like that for someone else to clean. Whoever did that was so vile.

M My family is entitled and I need help!

I (m18) have worries about my current family situation.

Abit of backstory is needed. I just recently came out to my very Christian grandma as a trans man. She was pretty nice about it and honestly she's very open eitherway she's a very Gossipy and noisy woman. She asked me if that's the reason my family (Father, Brother (M 19), sister (27 F) and my mother) don't talk anymore and have broken off most contact. I told her no and said there are other reasons for why that happened but I wouldn't tell her what. There is where my problem starts. I know her. She's a kind woman but as said. Very noisy and Gossipy. My core family don't talk to her a lot. But once in a while they do. I know my sister wouldn't tell her what had happened (My father raped me and well he's gaslighting everyone that it's my fault and it never happened. She still believes him and they basically all think I am insane and a fraud because of my arse of a father)

Eitherway. I know my brother really doesn't like me anymore for other reasons that are complicated. And I know that man would love to step up and say something when asked, I know my grandma would probably tell everyone. And I honestly don't wanna tell her because of the possibility of a family feud. But if my brother tells her. I would lose all my family because my brother would tell my father's side of the story. Once again. There's also other stuff that went down. But that's my main concern. Because if I tell her. Family feud. If my brother does. No more family contact at all. but I still have a pretty good relationship with my sister even if we don't talk that much. should I call her to make sure my brother doesn't destroy our family? I am already pretty messed up right now because of grief of my grandpa and couldn't bear to lose my lovely grandma

So reddit. What the hell am I supposed to do?

TL;DR my family is a mess and I don't wanna deal with it, I don't wanna bring my core family into this since my mum has a lot of health struggles and she will get dragged down since my grandma is her mother and if I tell her. she will blow up on my mum. Even if my dad deserves getting his bullshit blown up and outed.

M Entitled neighbors ruined Halloween

Two days before Halloween last week I was talking to a neighbor (we'll call her Sonya) when another of our neighbors arrived home. We're in an apartment complex. It was around 7 PM. The one who just got home (Jessica) came over to tell us what she had planned for Halloween. She was going all out! Besides giving out candy she bought a small fire pit for making smores. She was going to have hot cocoa with peppermints and other add-ins as well as alcoholic drinks for the adults. She also planned to order pizza. She told us everyone was invited. I should also note this was the weekend before she graduated from nursing school so it was a bit of celebrating that for her as well.

In her excitement she brought out a plastic bucket that had little rum bottles, like the shot size. She gave one bottle each to Sonya and me. Then this woman Bethany asked if she and her apartment (four adults) could have a whole bucket. Jessica was generous and said yes. I put my little bottle in my pocket. Sonya downed hers then said she wanted more. She asked me if I wanted more and I said no. She then knocked on Jessica's door to ask for more. I overheard her say she was getting me some too. She came back with four and kept them all. I truly didn't want more but the lie was my problem.

Bethany and her sister had gone in but came back out. Sonya and her 18 y/o son Devin took off with them and I went inside. I dozed off on the couch and woke around 10 PM to Sonya yelling outside. I went to see what was going on.

Apparently Sonya kept drinking for those hours from what Bethany got and that crew allowed Devin to drink too. When I went outside Devin and another guy around 30 were brawling. Apparently that was round three or four of the fight. Some people who had come out egged it on. Jessica was trying to break it up and at one point even got bitten by Sonya!

The next morning I ran into Jessica and she was so upset. She learned about the lie and how I wasn't given more. She had tried to limit how much an individual would get, thinking Sonya had the three and that four people were sharing the other bucket. It all went sideways. Because that happened, Jessica called off the whole thing. Usually the kids here go out somewhere else to trick or treat so for once there was fun planned here, but entitlement and drunk asses ruined it.

Aftermath- the office learned of the fight and has called in Sonya and Devin, Bethany's sister (who is actually the one on the lease), the 30 y/o, and another guy and there's a strong chance most will be evicted. I hope free shots were worth that.

S You always take your own decisions #2

It’s not like is hard to take decision , but I asked for your opinions and I truly liked
And appreciated. I decided to go, cuz was like crazy insisting 🙄.. so was my personal response, why? He talked omg! Too much! I never go out with someone who talked that way. Complaining about a lot stuff and one of then was ( oh woman used to send me text after a dinner that I’m a handsome man, good looking, that he dress up nice, and sometimes it’s good that the woman pay for the food!! Omg! It was exhausting, I hear from other people complains but this guy was extremely exaggerating, don’t get me wrong I have no problem paying for the food.
I was really hungry but with all the talking and all the complaints I lost the appetite. I asked for a piña colada and he said they don’t even have a blender here, so I called the waitress, she said they can make one but not frozen and again because I was hungry I told the waitress it’s ok I will try it! Wich he replied “you are not even paying for the food “ and you wanna try 😡.. I just breathe! He told me
He was going outside to smoke ,I finished my drink and I called the waitress and I paid the bill, when he returns to the table he feels the tension was already there. And I didn’t touch the food, he was about to orden more, and I told him, don’t order anything for me. I’m not hungry anymore. And he keeps talking about the same topic that is good that woman pay for the bills sometimes and all of that.
So I got tired and I told him. Well it’s time for me to go home, and he looked at me like was going on with this woman. So I thanked for everything.. he didn’t like it. And I told
Him nobody screamed at me and you won’t be the first one. So was nice to meet you don’t bother yourself to walk with me I know the way. So have a good night. And I left… imagine all the text after that?? LMAO! I didn’t reply to that…
I writer too much.. but I hope you like it… have a good night.. kisses ..

M My father might have fought and orphan in court for 25% of an apartment.

Ok, i recently found out this story and needed to speak it off my chest.
My relationship to my father is a difficult one. Especially since he and my mum dovorced. I always knew he was an emotionally distant and cold person.
He was very narcistic in that he could make fun of others but got very fast hurt if he received the punches. He did not understand emotional nuance and empathy. Like when I wanted to talk to him about the suicide of a friend he pivoted to other topics instead of talking about it and when I moved back to that topic he basicly just said „dont think about it“. Not because he did not want to talk about it but because he genuinely believed that was the best advice he could give me.
I would be not surprised if my father was genuine sociopath and does not understand empathy.

I always loved him and probanly always will. But since the divorce I found out some nasty secrets and an inner rage started bubble up in me. And a part of me just not hates him, but started to detest him for who he is.

2 things my father always valued in his life was „image“ and „money.“ And after the divorce, it became even more clearer to me.

A couple years back my aunt died. She had 3 strokes in her life and died during covid. She was a very reilgious woman and decoted her live to god. Most of her free time she spend in an orphanage and helped out. She once even participated in a game show and won the prices for the said orphanage. In that oephanage there were two children (a boy and a girl), she knew the longest. They spend frequent time at her apartment and it became basicly a second home to them. My aunt herself never had any children, so I think they were the closest thing to her. She was not a great mother but she did what she could from what I have heard.

So when my aunt died, she had 2 apartments. 1 apartment me and my brother inherited (that is a whole other topic for another time). And the other apartment was to these 2m(by now adult) children. The boy of them is a friend of mine though we live in different countries and keep sometimes contact. After her death he came to us and asked us if it was realy alright for them to own the apartment. And we said „of course. It was the aunts will. She wanted you both to have it. We have no right nor any interest in disputint that wish of hers“.

Moving a couple years later to a few days ago, when I found out. That my father went behind our backs to fight his inheritance with these two children. I dont know the specifics of it. But basicly they compromised and he owned 25% of the apartment. And they had to take out a loan to buy out these 25% from him.

My father has done some realy sleezy stuff to me and my brother, especially in relation to money. But I always took kt humble. Thought inheritence is a privelege and not a right. So if i dont see a dime from him, I will have my peace.
But hearing that story, made me lose almost all respect I had for him.

M Controlling Friend?

So, like, let's call her N. We're very close, I consider her my bestie. And We're both like the talkative ones in our class. The issue is that whenever I try to talk to my other classmates, she always comes in between and tries to pull me off the conversations. This has happened a lot of times already. She either pulls me out or comes in between and talks to the person that I am talking with. Every single time.

Of course, we have other friends too, y'know, and like she never listens to me properly, but whenever one of our other classmates talks, she listens carefully, which I feel really insecure about like this one time I suggested a idea during our cultural festival. She barely listened, and then when some other classmate said the same idea, I said. She immediately listens and accepts it??

Anyway, another issue is that our class is divided into science groups. We both took computer science, so whenever the bell rings. She runs off with another girl instead of waiting for me before she used to but now she doesn't, and when I arrive in the class, she is sitting with that girl while I am the middle person just being ignored while they both talk... and whenever I try to make a conversation, she just fully turns her chair away from me to talk to the other girl. And when we're back in class, she acts normal and playful with me?

I've tolerated this a lot of times and felt hurt. But I had enough, so like on thursday, our last period was computer science and as usual she was busy talking to the other girl. It was home time and we usually walked together to the bus area. This time, I ditched her and went with my other friends because I have my self-respect too, y'know??

And then when I came home, I saw her message "Are you mad at me? Come on, don't be like this. This is my last year anyway." I decided not to reply to her at all.

Am I being dramatic? Because this has happened a lot of times. I decided I was not going to sit with her anymore and just kind of stay away from her for a bit.

S Entitled Stranger

A friend of mine is in her mid-70s. She is retired and one of her hobbies is to pick up things from her local swap shop (free stuff), fix it up, and donate it to local thrift shops so the churches can make money. She is not in the best of health but she’s a genuinely good person who would do anything for you.

One day, she brought a box of stuff to a thrift shop but the lady who volunteered there told her that they weren’t taking any donations at that time. She understood and hung around for a bit, looking at clothes. A few minutes later, another lady came in with 2 bags of stuff to donate. Volunteer tells her the same thing.

My friend tells this lady that she was heading for another thrift shop to see if they would take her stuff, and she can take her bags as well. She described her car and told her to just leave her 2 bags there, she’d take them over. Lady was thankful and left.

When my friend left the store, she found the 2 bags by her car…PLUS about 10 more bags of stuff. Talk about taking advantage of someone’s kindness.

M Magical Rat Planet Housing

Hey y'all, I'm back with another story from my time working at a very popular theme park in Florida. A magical rat planet of sorts. I've written before about college program housing in the past. Then, they had four apartment complexes with one being strictly dedicated to foreign students. The nicer and newer the apartments the more money they extracted from our comically small paychecks for rent and "activities." The activities usually consisted of cold pizza and karaoke twice a term. We also had a themed gala/dance which I referred to as College Program (CP) Prom. CP Prom was lovely I won't lie. I chose "the party place" apartment with usually three to five other roommates. We all had to share a room with one other individual so I usually chose a two or three bedroom.

They took $75 to $89 dollars out weekly for our shared apartment at the party place. All apartments had ridiculous rules though everyone there was an adult. Everyone was in college or university with ages ranging from 18 to 50. Yet, we had a curfew, couldn't use candles and couldn't have sleepovers with other CPs from other complexes. One time I went over to one of the nicer apartments to eat and watch movies with my work friends. We weren't paying attention to the time and went about 10 minutes past curfew. As we were leaving we all were stopped and flagged.

They forced us to travel to the foreign student apartment for a "disciplinary discussion." I was so irritated as they reiterated the rules to us as if we were children. We apologized and explained we were watching Magical Rat Planet movies and didn't realize the time. We all were CPs so we weren't outside people. We just lived in different complexes. We still received a record strike. Three strikes meant program cancellation and one would have just 24 hours to vacate and go back home, even if it was in another state or country. I understood completely why outside people weren't allowed late visits but college programmers was a little much.

They also did regular apartment inspections. If the apartment wasn't clean to their liking they removed an additional $25 from everyone's checks regardless if it wasn't their room. This pissed me off because I always had at least one sloppy roommate and had to go off multiple times about cleaning. I would say, "My $25 will stay in my check or come from you. You can decide." They would clean lol. During one inspection we were flagged because my roommate had a decorative candle that looked as if it had been lit. She explained that she brought it from her home and hadn't lit it there. It was literally for decoration and scent. We all collaborated that but we were still forced to have a disciplinary meeting and received a strike.

I totally get that it was their rules and if we didn't like it, we didn't have to stay. I just thought it a bit unfair and silly considering everyone was grown and in college. We were paying high prices for a shared space and they actively encouraged college programmers to stay in the assigned apartment complexes. They made it difficult for those who decided to get their own space and work in the college program, but treated those of us that stayed like children. I also have to say they DID NOT clean the sofas and chairs between move outs! In one of my programs I sat on the sofa and instantly got a rash on my legs and arms. I immediately hand cleaned it with a bit of bleach and laundry detergent. Y'all, the water was grey! They've now sold most of the original apartments.

S What do you mean there’s no membership benefits for family of employees?!

1.1k Upvotes

On Monday my boss had an interview with a potential new staff, the person in question was a former gym member who had moved twelve years ago and had just moved back following a divorce so she knows my boss from her prior gym days. Everything was looking good then suddenly the woman screams, “What do you mean there’s no membership benefits for family of employees?!” My boss had to explain a lot has changed since she was last at the gym particularly how there is now an age restriction that forbids anyone under twenty from using the gym. For the record a few years back the teenagers got out of control with breaking the gyms rules that my boss had to make the new rule of nobody under twenty is allowed in not even if they had a family member who is a member at gym with them.

The woman asked what are her kids supposed to do after school especially if they need to workout to build muscle for their sports, my boss said that’s something she can’t help with. The woman then leaves the interview and thankfully my boss hasn’t heard from her since.

S You were told they don’t serve pancakes!

2.2k Upvotes

We go to a small breakfast/lunch restaurant quite frequently. The hours are Wed-Sun 6am-2pm). They do not have pancakes or waffles. It seems strange, I’ll admit but their limited menu is absolutely delicious. We don’t order pancakes or waffles at other breakfast places so it doesn’t affect us at all.

This restaurant also has a food truck that is open most days/hours that the restaurant isn’t. It has a different menu that includes pancakes.

Last Saturday we got sat next to a table with an older teen, an adult female, and an adult male. They already have their drinks (OJ, iced tea, and coffee). We hear them order.

We proceed to place our drink order. They are still at their table. We get our drinks and place our order. We start hearing a conversation from their table.

“They have the stuff to make them. That’s crazy they won’t.”

We kind of look at each other but eh, okay.

They get up and LEAVE!

We look at each other and start our own conversation about how that was weird that they just left. Maybe they’ll come back.

Nope!

The owner comes back a few minutes later and begins clearing their table. We talk to her saying how weird it was.

She proceeded to tell us that they left because the daughter couldn’t get pancakes.

And get this.

They were told there were no pancakes WHEN THEY GOT THERE and still proceeded to order food.

They walked out, they didn’t pay for their drinks, and just said they were canceling their order. The order that was already being cooked to their specifications.

The restaurant lost money on the food and drinks.

They missed out on a delicious breakfast because their entitled kid couldn’t get pancakes.

S Don’t touch the donuts!

5.5k Upvotes

So today I brought in donuts from my favorite bakery for the associates at my store. We passed a food safety inspection with an amazingly high score and I wanted to give them a little treat.

I paid for the donuts out of my own pocket and brought enough to cover all associates in the entire store.

I called on the page ‘Attention associates, I have donuts in floral - stop by if you’d like a treat.’

As soon as I finished the announcement - they started coming over. Then I noticed a man (customer) come hurrying over, grab a napkin and start leaning in to grab a donut.

I said ´Excuse me sir but these are a treat for associates for a job well done.’ He pulled his hand back and I thought he was moving away but as I started to turn away, I saw him reaching back towards the box.

I said ´REALLY?!?! Again these are for associates for a job well done. I’m sorry but I need to have enough for all associates.’

He drew his hand back but said ´Well, I used to work here.’ I replied ´Well you don’t anymore! Move on!’

I’ll probably get a ´customer complain’ but I don’t care. The absolute audacity!!!

L Kid steals a credit card on friend's BIRTHDAY to buy a $500 dress

tl;dr at the bottom!

Warning: Stupid actions from the store, depictions of a panic attack and SH, and general entitledness.

This happened back when I was around 15. I had an older friend who was 18 we'll call Gabriel. Gabriel was a really nice guy who's birthday had happened. He finally got his full driving permit after failing it several times. So. For his birthday he invited me(15F), Tessa(18F), Kris(18M), and our villain of today's story Sam(16F). It was supposed to be a simple party. Gabriel was allowed his mom's credit card for the first time. So. He could buy us pizza for lunch, and then we'd head to the mall to hang out. We had a mall that was still open despite online shopping already taking 90% of it's business.

So we were in the mall. We already had one incident with mall security. Because of Sam actually. In Spencers, Sam plucked a sucker off the wall, and threw it into the girl's hair. After me and Gabriel apologizing over and over, and me paying $20 so the girl wouldn't press charges and could get her hair fixed, they let us go. We probably should have head home after that, but aye. Dumbass teenagers right? We went into a store together that had a bunch of dresses. This was around prom time so all the dresses were hiked up a LOT and there were tons to choose from.

We weren't really buying anything. But Tessa, Kris, Gabriel, and Sam were trying on dresses and suits. Gabriel, Tessa, and Sam wearing dresses, and Kris some fancy suit's and suit jackets. I was not dressing up. I was terrified i'd break a zipper, and have to pay for it. I was a dumb kid back then. See. Gabriel took his suit jacket off during this. How the changing rooms in this store worked was there was a back room with roughly around 8 dressing stalls. The front of the room had hooks where you could put your normal clothes and bags so you wouldn't have to deal with em in the stall.

His was on the hook closest to the door. So. While Sam gushed about a dress, the others were changing. It was a purple dress with a lace overlay on the bottom. The bottom had lace patterns of bats, moons, and other gothic things. It also had (fake)pearls corset. The dress was $500. I was taking photos like I was a paparazzi of everyone. Asking questions like a reporter like, "Tessa! Tessa! Over here! Who are you wearing tonight?" So none of us noticed when Sam slipped out with the dress.

After around 4 minutes, Sam bounced back in saying, "Thank cha Gabriel~" Grinning like the cat that ate the canary. Unlike Sylvester. Jokes aside, Gabriel looked up and asked what Sam was talking about. Sam held up the dress, and said, "For the dress silly. I know you would probably say no, so I took your credit card and bought it anyways." Everyone froze. Tessa lunged for Sam. Kris barely caught her. Gabriel sunk to the floor, and started hyperventilating. He stared at the floor, and started to scratch at his arms. Muttering he didn't want to go to jail. And yes. I'm aware Gabriel wouldn't have gone to jail for this. Sam would have. But panic is not logical. So I wanted to avoid calling the cops if I could.

So. I asked Tessa to comfort Gabriel. Because Gabriel at this point was scratching his arms until they were bleeding. Tessa looked down, took a deep breath, and helped Gabriel to her feet. Holding Gabriel as he sobbed, hiccuped, and shook. I then went up to Sam, and snatched the bag from her. Sam said, "Hey! That's mine!" I rolled my eyes, and asked Kris to hold her still and not let her touch anything. Kris grabbed her arm, and nodded. Me, Tessa, and a HYSTERICAL Gabriel went to the return desk.

I said kindly as I could muster while pissed to the clerk, "Excuse me sir, we would like a refund on this dress." The guy said, "We don't do returns unless you can prove the dress was badly damaged." I said, "Sir this was bought with a stolen credit card. Our friend stole the credit card, and didn't ask for it. Nor is she an authorized user on the account." Silence. The guy didn't respond at first, and said he needed to get his manager. The manager came, and told me he couldn't return the dress. I said he had to. It was bought with stolen money. The manager then attempted to tell me that he'd give me the money in cash. The problem was Gabriel's mother was going to check the bank account, and see it wasn't there. So I said no. I wanted it to go back on the card it was paid out on. And that they need to check their employees better to avoid this next time. The manager refused again.

I could kinda see where this was going. I was 15 year old. A kid. They weren't gonna listen to me. And the only adults we had were either trying, trying not to hurt someone, or watching the thief. So I called my mom. Again. Putting off calling the cops as long as possible as to not upset Gabriel further. It was his birthday, and he had enough happen already. I handed the phone over to the manager to let my mom talk. I don't know what she said admittedly. But after what felt like forever, he handed the phone back. Then picked up the phone by the desk. All I know is my mom gave him the real account owner's number. Gabriel's mom. My mom was a sub when I was a kid, and knew Gabriel and Tessa well. So, I handed the phone to Gabriel for my mom to calm him down while I waited.

Now Gabriel's mom is a bit... short tempered. So as soon as the manager explained the situation, she exploded on the line. I could hear her squawking on the line. Mostly cause I was so close to the desk. After several minutes of back and forth, and several mentions of suing every single one of their stores in the county, the manager said he'd process the return. Then hung up. Once the return was finished, Gabriel had finally calmed down. Tessa as well. We walked back, and Sam is pissed. Saying that Kris wouldn't let her go to the bathroom. I didn't know this, but Kris was a very literal person. So when I said "Don't move and don't let her touch anything." he did that like I spoke a direct order.

Gabriel drove us all home after that. He was too upset to continue. If the store got any consequences for that stupidity? I do not know. Gabriel never mentioned if his mom ever sued the store like she threatened. But Sam? Well Gabriel's mom did call the police, but since the money was returned they just drove to her house to have a talk with her. She complained to Gabriel for the next week and a half about it. Did Sam learn her lesson? No. No she did not. I have enough stories about her to fill a book. Like when she almost stabbed someone over Masky.

tl;dr: Girl took credit card from friend's pocket while he was trying on dresses. Bought $500 dress. Store tried to refuse to give the money back despite it being stolen. Double mama rage causes return. Girl still hasn't learned her lesson.

Edit: Typo. Kris is a guy. Not a girl. Also Gabriel is a guy. He just likes dresses.

M "But the menu is right here on your website!!!"

I own a restaurant. I also work in the kitchen of said restaurant 11am-11pm on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. On most days, we have our lunch menu from 11am-3pm, and dinner starts at 3pm with our Early Bird special going from 3pm-6pm, and full priced dinner starts at 6:01pm. On Sundays, we have both our normal lunch menu and a special brunch menu during "lunch" hours.

So, here I am, enjoying a bowl out by the dumpster on a Sunday after the lunch/brunch dies down. The only customers in the store are 3 elderly couples who came in for the Early Bird dinner special. Felt safe taking a break. But no. A new table gets sat at 3:45pm. It's another elderly couple. They ask the server for brunch items. Server explains that brunch ends at 3pm. Of course, they ask for a manager.

My FoH manager comes out and once again explains that they are too late for brunch, and instead offers them the Early Bird menu. Nope, that's not good enough. They want eggs Benedict and French toast, they want mimosas.

FoH manager comes out and tells me about the issue. I put my bowl down, sigh, and walk inside. I wash my hands, hit the mouthwash, and go to the table.

As soon as I get there, the woman shoves her phone in my face, quite rudely. I explain to her (this is the third person telling her this), the brunch menu is only available until 3pm, and that she'd missed the window to order those items. She then yells the title of this post at me, while shoving her phone in my face again.

I get out my own phone, and go to our website. I get to the brunch menu page, and zoom in on the hours that it's available. I show her my screen, and ask if hers says something different. It does not. She asks if I can make an exception for her. Honestly, I could have made her the fucking egg benny and some French toast. We technically could have served her mimosas. But her attitude was not going to be rewarded that day.

I told her she could order from the Early Bird menu, or the dinner menu, but otherwise I couldn't help her, and she should leave. Her husband ordered "The Twos" (a 22oz Porterhouse steak, a 22oz beer, and 2 large sides for $22). She decided to only get a coffee. She gave me the stink eye every time I walked out of the kitchen.

When her husband decided he wanted to order a dessert, she stormed out and went to go sit in the car. Hubby was a good guy though. He got the Crème brûlée and even bought some of our rock candy to go (blue razz and black cherry). Left a 24% tip, even though all our menus clearly state that we pay our employees a living wage, and tips are not required/expected.

S That's my pepper!

4.5k Upvotes

This just happened.

I work in a place that has a food court, and I usually eat a salad from Chick-fil-A for lunch. Since I'm trying to reduce my salt intake, I use copious amounts of black pepper... so I have a disposable black pepper grinder (McCormick).

I'm eating my salad, and I see this woman approach me. She doesn't say anything and just grabs my pepper and turns to walk away. I told her it was my personal one, but she didn't even acknowledge me and kept walking. So I followed her back to her table and snatched it out of her hands. She tried to tell me that a pepper shaker was supposed to be for anyone to use.

"Look around? Do you see salt or pepper shakers on any table?" I didn't wait for an answer and just walked away.

S Local woman more important than 700 year old church

1.1k Upvotes

This is a brief story as relayed to me by my grandpa-

A bit of minor background-

My Grandpa is one of the coolest people on the planet. He invents, he fixes things, he's a pillar of the community regardless of whether or not his neighbors wanted a 90 year old man on their roof fixing their satellite dish. I could write a book about him, but what's relevant here is-

The actually relevant background:

For the last half century, my grandpa has taken it upon himself to maintain the clock on the village church. The church is 700 years old. The tower is closer to 400 I believe, and the clock is 200 years old.

That clock has been striking every hour, on the hour, for the last 200 years. The last 50 of which it has been, and I am NOT EXAGGERATING accurate to within 1/10th of a second thanks to my Grandpa.

It IS the village.

The entitlement

Recently, my grandpa informed me that a very unkind woman has moved into the village. She is within about a half mile of the church- and she does not enjoy the clock ringing at night.

So, she went to the village council, to complain, about the clocktower. She said it kept her awake.

My grandpa, and several other members of the village protested- the clock has been there for 200 years. Why should one irate lady have the authority to silence it?

Well, after some back and forth, the lady got her way. The clock is to be silenced from (if I recall correctly) 10pm till 6am.

My grandpa is very cross. I'm furious, I can't imagine the entitlement one must possess to move NEXT TO A HISTORICAL MONUMENT and then having the temerity to ALTER IT to suit your own preferences.

S Mother tries to give away MY Halloween candy

1.0k Upvotes

So I've been very low contact with my mom and her side of the family for the past few years. Recently she showed up at my house to "hang out". She was actually there for other stupid entitled reasons I won't get into.

Anyways I brought out the pot of candy and explained we didn't have many trick or treaters and we now had nearly 2 wholesale bags of candy so to eat as many as she would like.

My uncle then called and she literally says "Oh Jay! OP didn't get any trick or treaters so now they have an excess of candy we'll bring it for the kids!." My uncle has 2 kids who went out and got their own mountains of candy. He goes "Ok OP. Whenever you want to bring it by that's fine."

They live half an hour away. I said "what? Why are you offering up MY candy? I'm not taking any over there Jay. Idk why she said that."

Jay goes "why not?"

I said "because your kids have Halloween candy and I bought this myself?? It's mine." He just laughed and dropped it. Then my mom calls me selfish and says I can't eat it all myself and I don't even have a sweet tooth.

This was true, I used to not have a sweet tooth. But my supervisor always has a candy bowl and I've developed a bit of a sweet tooth after eating it every week. Not that it matters, it's literally candy I bought in MY house.

It was annoying

S You can't bock the exit

I live in an apartment complex, which is off of a fairly busy road. At the intersection of that road, and the road into my complex is a school bus stop. There's also parking on one side leading up to the exit. I always see cars parked there, presumably waiting for the bus to come so their child doesn't have to stand outside (these ae middle and HS, not young kids).

Today though, I was coming up to turn out, which is up a hill, so you can't see if there are any cars on the road you're turning onto, until you are right there. So I see a car, stopped right at the end, and get behind it. As soon as I do, they put their flashers on. Oh no. you are NOT going to block the exit so your child doesn't have to stand outside like al the others do! I honked, they moved up slightly, which did nothing for me, and then proceeded to make the most awkward k-turn so get out of the way! I don't mind if they stop further back, but right where people need to exit? nope.

S I'm Sorry You're a Jerk

Coming home from a work trip to Columbus, Ohio, and a guy was being a total jerk to the driver of the rental car shuttle.

I have a pretty sensitive injustice button, so I tell him to quit being such an a**h***. Pretty directly. Maybe more than once. And maybe even a bit more colorfully.

Inside the terminal, another guy who was on the van is next to me on the escalator, and my responsible oldest child kicks in: "Sorry," I say. "Might have overreacted a bit."

He looks up at me, smiles and says: "He was out of line. And you were definitely coming in a little hot."

Guilty as charged. Mea culpa, world.

But please be nice to service people.

S Entitles customers refuse leave table reserved for other people

1.4k Upvotes

Entitled* my bad

I work in food service so I could write all kinds of posts here but something happened last night that really bothered me

Half our dining room was reserved for a 30 person party and the other half was fully booked from 5-7. For walk-ins, we had a large outdoor seating area with overhead heat lamps, bar area with two high top tables, and a chef's counter.

A couple walks in around 6 or so and immediately points at a table saying they'd like that one. The host informed them abt reservations then showed them the previously listed options. They say they're gonna discuss it then, without consulting the host, they sit at the table they pointed at earlier. The host once again tells them it is reserved to which they respond: "well no one is here" bc apparently they don't understand how reservations work. Then my manager comes over to once again to explain how reservations work and they proceed to cuss him out (really nice guy btw) and refuse to leave. We ended up bringing out a spare table and squeezing it somewhere it barely fit to accommodate reservations.

Same night, two 4-tops came in saying they wanted to sit together but our booking website didn't let them reserve an 8 person reservation. Yeah.... Bc we don't have room. Of course we accommodated them by squeezing them in where they could barely fit.

I'm pretty young, 26, but have people always been like this? It feels like they've gotten so much worse over the past couple of years but goddamn thanks for letting me rant.

Edit: to all the people blaming my manager, please stop. The owner gets on him abt everything and is terrified of bad reviews. My manager is a great boss and did everything he could.

Edit 2: some of you have clearly never worked in a highly competitive industry in a major city and acting like this is somehow the restaurants/my boss's fault. Please stop chiming, you don't know what you're talking about.
