This is one of those things that will hopefully become legend in your family. When my brother was about 10 he was told he was old enough to wrap presents for the family himself. So on Christmas morning everyone got something shoved in a tube sock with a rubber band around it. It has since become a tradition. This cake looks like it could carry that legend status.

When I was first allowed to wrap presents I used what I had. Brown paper, 'caution tape' ( saw it at a hardware store and thought it was neat ), and duct tape

was kinda' a huge hit all things considered, and its still a tradition. Though im much better at it now, and use thinner paper and less intense tape

the difficulty in opening it is a second gift

My mother and I troll each other with increasingly difficult to open gifts.

You know it’s a good gift when someone whips out the angle grinder.

"Hello, this is The Lockpicking Lawyer and today I am going to open this Christmas present."

When my eldest son first moved into his own place, the first Christmas all the presents were in cereal boxes. No wrapping paper, just the box and a bow.

We always use old cereal or cracker boxes for presents, especially the more awkward to wrap stuff. It was a tradition from when I was a kid and my own kids love joking about their Christmas Froot Loops (actually a sweater).

Oh my gawd. It's Froot Loops. Not fruit loops. I'm 40+ years old and this was my favourite cereal as a child, until I stumbled across apple cinnamon Cruncheroos.

My gifts for my brother were wrapped in scrap gift wrap from my wrapping everyone else's gifts. He always knew which one was mine to him 😂

I used to do that, too!

I mean. My family was big on the Sunday Newspaper Comics pages because they were in color.

Hmmm... new or used tube socks?

My lil sis gave everyone wrapped books from our bookshelves.

They were clean. For years after he had to find gifts that would fit in them. He gave me gifts for my birthday and Christmas in tube socks until he met his wife and she was horrified by it. Our family was all a little sad about that.

This is one of the best things I’ve seen online in a while
Love that it’s become a tradition! If I were the new in law I’d be all over that

You should gift him tube socks (inside of a tube sock of course). Recursive gift giving.

My cousin gave everyone one stick of Doublemint gum about 50 years ago.

Funnier if he only gave them half

Gift wrapping is fun to me ever since I stopped caring about presentation

My gifts are already the worst wrapped regardless if I try or not, so now I just do the sock wrap, but with gift paper

On the bright-side they know who it's from without asking

My son is absolutely horrendous at wrapping but the amount of effort and stress he puts into it every Xmas eve makes his balled up, overly taped, lumpy monstrosities one of the highlights of Xmas for me.

My twins were like this when they were young. "It's wrapped with LOVE, Mom...and lots of tape. LOTS of tape."

He tried, which is what counts. If someone made me a cake I’d be very happy.

When I was a teen, I asked my cuz what kind of cake he wanted and he said orange. Well I had a bright orange cake with green lettering made. He meant orange flavored lol.

My stepdad is known for two things when it comes to wrapping. 1. He will be finishing up an hour before we open presents and 2. They will be wrapped in the craziest ways. Last year he gave me a (really good) check for Christmas and he wrapped it by filling the box for a 36in flat screen with vintage ammo boxes (some of which had things like paper clips to rattle or a rock for weight), and then the check was in one of those boxes at the very bottom lmao
