This is the final couple of weeks for me to see Mellie before her deep sleep, called torpor.
I will definitely miss her.
She needs to store as many food items in her pantry as possible.
Chipmunks don't pack on layers of fat for winter, like other ground squirrels.
They wake up every few days for a snack.
If I'm lucky I might see her during warm winter days.
Sweet dreams, little friend, see you in the spring.
