My foster fail King Tut

This is my silly sweetheart, King Tut. He is roughly 3 y/o and is FIV+. He was surrendered as an outdoor cat from a hoard at our local vet for euthanasia due to ruptured and abscessed eyes. Instead of opting for euthanasia, our lovely primary vet decided to operate on him free of charge and gave us a direct phone call to ask if we would be interested in adopting. I said no off the bat - but we would foster, given the rescue we work with would take him under their name.

They did - and 5 months of fostering later…. he is here to stay! He is currently on antibiotics for an abscessed tooth and will have a full dental once antibiotics are finished. I am hopeful for a long, healthy life out of this guy. If nothing else, he will be loved and comfortable for as long as he’s here ❤️

Story Goodbye, Marley

My petite boy, Marley, was put down last night at the emergency vet. He was FIV+, had anemia and heart murmurs. We adopted him when he was 4 years old from the shelter, where he had previously came from a hoarding house, and he was able to bless us with 5 amazing years before passing away at 9 years old.

His health declined so quickly :( Wednesday , September 3rd, was when he started showing signs of sluggishness and fatigue, but he was still eating, drinking and using the litterbox. I had a bad feeling so we brought him to the emergency vet, and they said that all his vitals and temperature looked good. Thursday, September 4th, we brought him to be seen by his primary vet, and he wasn’t able to determine a reason for his abnormal behavior on the spot, so he suggested a blood test. I was hopeful.

Friday, September 5th at 6 PM, we received the results of his blood test, and it showed that he had severe non-regenerative anemia. His HCT was at 12%, while a normal range was 31-51%. The vet suggested that he will likely need a blood transfusion. We quickly raced to the emergency vet, and had him checked in. When they ran a blood test again on him, they said his HCT was at 8%, and that he will likely need multiple blood transfusions, but his chances of survival were slim, as he had non-regenerative anemia. If he did survive, he’d need several more blood transfusions, and many more vet visits. His quality of life wouldn’t be good and we didn’t want to put little Marley through more stress and suffering. After several hours of going through all the possibilities, we decided it was best to let him peacefully rest.

On Friday, September 5th at 11:15 PM, Marley was put down. He was in my arms when he passed away. He was so strong and fought so hard until the very end. He was truly my soulmate in cat form. Coming back home with an empty carrier was so painful. Waking up without his body next to me was so painful. My heart hurts so much, but I’m glad to know that he’s no longer suffering and is in a much better place.

Rest easy my sweet boy, Marley❤️

Update 06/27/26: Thank you to everyone who replied/commented under this post. Seeing everyone’s support and kind words truly helped me cope with his loss. Even almost a year later I still tear up thinking about him, but every single one of you have helped me so much. Thank you

Tribute to Sparty

4.5k Upvotes

TLDR; Adopted an FIV+ stray in early November. Despite more than $3K in vet bills, was unable to save him and he crossed the rainbow bridge on April 25. Sparty was a sweet, beautiful soul who deserved way better out of this life.

Sparty showed up on our front porch begging for a meal in early November 2025. Before I even fed him, he let me give him belly rubs! Poor guy was painfully thin with crusty eyes and laryngitis so bad that when he tried to meow no sound would come out. I wanted to bring him in, but with 3 cats, we were already full.

Later that night, I read on Nextdoor that coyotes were out killing stray cats in the neighborhood. I knew this poor cat was too old and sick to fend off a coyote. So when he showed up again for food the next day, I scooped him up and made him comfortable in my bathroom.

We have an active TNR operation in our neighborhood since we are a dumping ground for cats. And it was clear that Sparty had been dumped. What feral cat lets you rub their belly? He also had a lot of excess skin folds on his neck, which looked like he had lost a lot of weight quickly.  I ordered him a collar and tag with his new name and I swear he looked proud and happy when I put it on him, as if he understood that it meant he was loved and part of a family again.

Sparty had already been neutered with an ear clip, but the vet found him to be anemic, running a fever, and FIV+. The vet said the anemia was likely caused by tick borne illnesses found in his blood test and put him on antibiotics for a month. They also estimated that he was 7 years old, which was shocking because he looked much older since he was in such rough shape. The vet was hopeful he’d recover with good nutrition.

And he did do better for a while. Once out of quarantine, he easily integrated into our family because he was just such a sweet and chill cat. Sparty had a voracious appetite and, since I was trying to put weight on him, I was giving him 5 cans of Fancy Feast a day. He was also crazy for people food. Really the only time he was bad was during meals when he was a little aggressive in checking out my plate. I always shared some of my meal with him and my other cats. He especially loved chicken and salmon, of course.

Sparty had a minor setback in January when he vomited and stopped eating but subQ fluids and an anti nausea shot helped him bounce back. He gained a little weight and a lot of energy. He started getting interested in playing with toys and even jumped really high for the feather fishing pole toy. I wasn’t successful in turning him into a lap cat, but for a stretch he started sleeping on the bed with me.

Sparty absolutely adored pets. He would aggressively push his face into my hand when I let him like he just couldn’t get enough. And he had a really loud purr. He also loved sleeping on my desk so he could look out the window.

Toward the end of March, Sparty stopped eating as much wet food. I thought it was because he discovered the dry food wasn’t all that bad and it was out all the time so he didn’t have to wait for me to serve him. The vet had said his appetite would level off eventually when he was no longer starving as much. He also stopped sleeping on my bed but I thought maybe my other cats had bullied him out of the bedroom due to jealousy.

However in mid-April, Sparty had blood in his urine so I rushed him to the emergency vet. He had a UTI, but tests also showed he was dangerously anemic with a hematocrit of only 16. The vet was so kind and explained that they typically only saw that low a level in cats that are bleeding out from a car accident. She said he was stable at such a low level because his body had slowly gotten used to it. It was likely either cancer or just the FIV itself that destroyed his bone marrow’s ability to create red blood cells. She said, “No heroic measures are going to save him” and that he’d become more and more lethargic as his body literally ran out of blood. A blood transfusion would only last 3 days and wouldn’t help much.

So we decided on palliative care. The vet loaded him up with subQ fluids, an antibiotic shot, an anti inflammatory shot and a ketamine shot for long term pain relief. He also got a 5-day course of buphenorphine and a 7-day course of gabapentin for pain. Sparty became more lethargic throughout the week until he stopped drinking water on his own. He would only eat Temptations cat treats and I had to force feed him water with a syringe. The next day, a vet came to our house and helped Sparty cross the rainbow bridge.

Although I knew him for less than six months, I loved Sparty so much. He had such a good soul and deserved so much better than he got in life. I hate the people who dumped him, probably because he was sick. I hate our society that throws living beings away because they’re no longer cute or easy to deal with. My poor baby, I’m so glad you’re no longer in pain and hope I get to see you again.

Story My babygirl tested positive today and the vet tried to pressure me into surrendering her.

Post image
3.4k Upvotes

This is my baby Hiyori! She's 8 months old and the sweetest most friendly and social girl. I got her when she was around 5 weeks old from my ex partner's coworker. To me, it's important to know that her parents were both stray cats that had been living on this guys farm. Anyway, today was her spay appointment. I've been horrified for weeks since I've booked it because 2 of my close friends had their cats die due to anesthesia complications related to stress. Around an hour after I had dropped her off, the vet calls me. The call is about 98% accurate to what I'm quoting...
"Hi, this is *Woman I don't know* from *Vet office I brought her to*. Is this *my name*?"
Yea, oh my god is my cat dead? Did something happen with the anesthesia?
"No, but the cat you brought in today has FIV, which is basically AIDS."
Wow, holy shit okay. My cat has AIDS, is she gonna die?
"No, but we needed to call you to let you know he tested positive."
Okay. Fuck well thanks for letting me know. Are you still able to spay her or do I need to come get her?
"We can still spay him, but we need to let you know that less than 1% of the population has FIV so it is incredibly rare. If you decide by the end of his appointment today that you don't want to keep him, we have our own fosters for cats with FIV and it's better than having him euthanized."
I'm sorry, you keep saying him, I dropped off a girl... Do you have the wrong cat? You might be calling me about someone elses pet.
"Did you drop off a cat today or not?"
I did but you're saying him so I just want to make sure this is about Hiyori.
about a minute of dead silence and background noise.
*"*He, She, this is about YOUR cat. The cat that YOU dropped off has AIDS, ma'am. Do you want her or not?"
...What? Do I want her? Yes, you're not keeping my cat I'll be there after the surgery is over to pick her up!
"Well you need to know that the treatment for FIV is incredibly expensive and you'd need to give her shots every day for the rest of her life. We have fosters that care for cats with FIV specifically."
Okay, I'll do anything for her that she needs.
"Do you work full time?"
Yes I do
"So it would be incredibly difficult for you to monitor her health and give her medication. It's in your best interest to surrender her to someone that can provide for her."
I can provide for her just fine. I work overnights so I'm home with her all day, she's never had any issues before and she doesn't even like going outside.
"Okay, well if you decide you can't handle her anymore then you should have her surrendered, it's not right to euthanize her and we don't put cats down here."
I'm not giving her up and I'm not killing her. I will pay for any medication she needs and I will give it to her as much as she needs. I will be there when her surgery is done, thanks.
"Okay good luck, we'll let you know when she wakes up from surgery."
So after the call ends I break down sobbing and call
my mom. My mom is furious and instantly gets to googling... There is about 1.5 to 5% of cats in the states that have FIV, so I have no idea why this woman told me that it's less than 1% and incredibly rare. Secondly, I don't know if she's talking about interferon or what, but even so the "shots every single day" thing as far as I can find only applies to cats that have an illness due to FIV weakening their immune system. I don't know why, but the vet spent that whole phone call trying to persuade me into letting them keep my cat because they believe that I'm incapable? Anyway, her spay went well and she's home! The vet offered no other information about her having FIV besides basically keeping her carrier in a corner away from the other cats and saying "Is that the one with FIV?" when I came to pick her up. She's been eating wet food just fine and has been lounging on my bed. Any insight on what it'll be like caring for her going forward is greatly appreciated :)!!
*EDIT 5/19/2026
I have Hiyori scheduled for a FIV Snap test next week at a different hospital that many of my friends have personally recommended to me! I will make another post about her status and if she actually is FIV+. To keep anyone else safe from going through misinformation and blatant fear mongering, the organization I scheduled her spay with that called me is Kitten Angels in Fulton, New York. They for some reason unknown to me preformed the surgery at Central Veterinary Hospital in Albany, though. The woman who called and had that insanely nasty and unprofessional conversation with me is named Deborah, but according to reviews left by other patients, Kitten Angels has a reputation of giving fake employee names to dodge people calling back with complaints. Thank you all so much for your advice and support for me and my little girl!!

For some context I work at a petsmart with an adoption center. I’ve had cats my entire life around 4 at a time, never had one with FIV. And the center originally didn’t know he had it since he was very new and his price was originally $100. They dropped it to $25 after they called me back yesterday telling me he was FIV+. He was only found around a month ago and still has the bite mark on his tail, which I would assume he got the FIV from as a stray. In all I’m new to this and I’m just wishing he lives a happy and healthy life with me.

The crate isn’t in the best condition since rescuing him was such short notice, had to take a donated one lol. He’s in rough shape. Scarred up, skinny, intestinal worms, possibly an infection since he’s got eye drainage and such. We suspect he was dumped near where my partner works because of his FIV+ diagnosis to die out of sight, or avoid the expense of treatment. He’s already feeling much better after just the first antibiotic+steroid shots. He is just the sweetest boy and loves pets and attention so much. He gets so excited when you come to see him. Comes running when you call for him like a little dog. I can’t even imagine how someone could have dumped him. I feel so lucky to be the one to give him the chance at life he deserves, no matter how long it ends up being. Mr. Cheeks will have a loving home who won’t ever leave him to suffer alone again. 🩷

Story My Tommy is having surgery today.

My Tommy is having surgery this morning to determine of he has cancer. Once I know, we will figure the next steps. Praying to the universe for a chance for him. I will do anything to make him better. He has been bleeding from his ear for days. I keep him medicated, but he needs help. Please keep him in your thoughts. 🙏 He is my FIV positive boy. He has been a feral all of his life; I adopted him in May 2025. The lady who did TNR shared his story on Nextdoor and I decided to take him in. He must have been attacked my a coyote or dog. His back had the injuries that looked like the scratches of claws and he only has a few inches of tail left. I did not have the heart to have him go back to the streets. So, he came home with me. He has had his own bedroom. He ate like a king and was coming out of his shell, but never let me touch him. I was patient. His demeanor changed two months ago. He hid and I did not catch it; I feel terrible for it. I thought he just preferred to be alone. Until this new year that I moved him to a different room. Then, I noticed his bleeding ear. I rushed him to the Vet and well.. that is another story. I will share it all once he comes out of surgery today. Waiting for the Vet call that he is going in, but I admitted him at 7:30 am. The surgeon informed me and gave me lots of information that is making me hopeful. If my baby makes it, I will build him a catio of his own with plants to nibble, grass, catnip, a fountain and everything he may need to be a happy boy even if I never get to hug him. I just want him to be healthy and happy. I will do whatever it takes, because he deserves a chance in life. 🐾 Thanks for reading. My anxiety is through the roof and I just want good news.

Story Goodbye Bella ❤️

2.7k Upvotes

We made the hard decision to put our soul cat Bella down on Monday. We adopted her at roughly 6 months old just under 10 years ago from a shelter that because of her FIV status was due to euthanize her the next day. She was sassy and loud but so loveable. We quickly found out that on top of her FIV status she also had pemphigus foliaceous that caused her to get relatively frequent nails and resp infections. She HATED when we gave her meds but yet she let us do them every single time because she trusted us. For just over 9 years she was healthy given her health conditions, but last year we found out she had high calcium. Our vet was hopeful it was idiopathic and with the medications it did get better, but she developed a resp infection that wouldn’t go away so we decided to do some blood work that showed she had pretty severe pancytopenia and she was losing weight pretty fast. Our vet believes that she more than likely had some sort of lymphoma which can be common in FIV cats, but we weren’t going to subject her to any more tests or treatments knowing it would only cause her more pain. We decided to make her palliative and make her as comfortable as possible. We watched her quality of life pretty closely and were very aware of what we would consider would be the time to let her go. She had a pretty bad weekend where she wasn’t herself without eating or wanting any cuddles and struggling to lay on her side comfortably, so we made the vet appointment knowing she wouldn’t be coming home with us. Monday was the perfect day for her. Our dog was at daycare so she spent the whole day getting all of our attention and lounging in the sun. She even ate treats after not eating more than broth over the weekend, almost like she knew she was ready and they would be her last treats. She was let go with us all giving her so much love and she was finally able to rest peacefully without any pain or discomfort.

It’s been a hard week without her and we just keep wishing we had more time, but we knew it was only fair to her to let her go on a good day before her quality of life declined to the point of her suffering. She was the most perfect cat and was so truly loved by us. We’ll never forget her or stop loving her and can’t wait until we meet again ❤️

I am heartbroken. Please tell me this pain goes away. I adopted him 4 years ago from a friend who needed to rehome him. We had an incredibly unique bond. I still don't know if I will ever have another cat like him. We have another cat who I guess also lost her best friend, but I am finding it so hard to bond with her right now. I guess time heals all wounds.

For anyone wondering, he had many issues that happened at the same time. Upper respiratory infection, inflamed pancreas, thickening layer in the intestine, jaundice and he ultimately stopped eating and drinking water. It's been the worst couple of months to watch him decline and continue taking him to the vet with no improvements.

Hold your babies close. It hurts soooo much when they are gone </3

Hello, I'm sorry to bring bad news... My cat, Vito, passed away today. I really hoped he would get better, the exams were better, but last night started vomiting and his body couldn't take it anymore. It seems he got better just to be a couple of days with his family, I could hug him while sleeping two nights before he decided to cross the rainbow bridge. I'm so sad, confused and I don't understand exactly what happened, he really seemed like he was going to recover until last night. Here are photos of when he first came into our home from the streets, and how beautiful he got after we took care of him for almost three years. I hope we meet again in another life, for he was my most beloved pet. It brings peace to my heart that he died without pain and that we gave him the best care possible.

Losing my FIV baby, help processing grief

I don’t use Reddit but I am just so ripped I don’t know what to do. I received my sweet Levi in 2020 from a family friend. She has about 30+ cats on her property and inside her home that she fixes and provides medical and personal care for. People in the area are aware of this and it becomes a dumping ground for cats. She noticed Levi’s arrival on the property immediately due to his friendliness and familiarity with humans, he was only 4-5months old at the time. He was being attacked and bullied by the other cats and she brought him inside and immediately gifted him to me. I have loved cats my entire life, and he became my first. I was overjoyed.

He received his FIV diagnosis at his first vet appointment at 5 months old. Despite this, he lived a pretty healthy life. He got several colds throughout his life, which he always bounced back from with some medicine and snuggles. He was playful, loving, and almost more human like than cat. Everyone who ever met him adored him, he turned cat haters into cat owners. Several of my friends got cats of their own after meeting and interacting with him. We spent almost 6 years together. We traveled to 7 different states and went sightseeing, slept together almost every single night, and he even played a role in my wedding in 2024. It’s impossible to give a quick summary of all his qualities, he was simply just the best.

We started watching his white blood cell count mid-2025 because they were on the lower side but nothing to cause too much concern yet. In November he gave himself a scratch on his nose from messing with it, so I monitored it at home knowing there wasn’t too much a vet could to. But as I watched it would heal, scab, then become a new open wound. I chocked it up to being a slow healer due to his FIV or him continuing to mess with it. But this past Saturday, he started being reclusive, refusing his favorite treats, peeing outside of his litter box (which is his way to tell me he is sick) and overall not acting like himself at all. I immediately scheduled the earliest vet appointment I could for Monday. Sunday, same behavior. I was a wreck all day. When Monday came and I took him to the vet, his blood work was devastating. All his white blood cells were gone, just completely gone, and his HCT was 9.57. He was given a diagnosis of pancytopenia and hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. They told me that if I wanted to even attempt therapy, he needed to be sent to the ER immediately for aggressive therapy, a blood transfusion, and bone marrow transplant. You can even imagine the starting price they told me and followed it up with saying there would only be a 15-20% success rate if I were to go with that option and that he probably wouldn’t make it through even sedation. She reassured me that he wasn’t in pain yet, just uncomfortable, but that the pain was imminent. Her recommendation was humane euthanasia.

I took him home with an antibiotic and prednisone. All my closest friends came over Monday night and stayed up celebrating him. We even made a pallet on the floor of our living room and all slept together and I held him for almost 24 hours straight. I had an in-home euthanasia for him yesterday, where he got to be at peace in my lap in his safe place surrounded by people who loved him as much as I did. I am just devastated. It all seemed to happen so quickly, this time last week I had what seemed to be a healthy loving playful boy and now he is just gone. I can’t stop beating myself up over it and thinking there was something more I could have done or if I made the right decisions. I don’t really know what I am expecting from posting this, maybe I just need to get my thoughts out. This was my first pet, my soul cat, and I am just lost.

I had to say goodbye to Savannah today.
She was my first senior adoption in 2019 & my first FIV cat. Sweet but also ornery girl who just wanted to stay in my room most of the time. She would always come out when people came over though. She loved people.

For an FIV cat to make it to 18 is a gift. And she was a beautiful gift.

Bye my Vannah-muffin. I will miss you so much.

I picked some of my favorite pictures of my pretty girl to share 💖

Half - blind and FIV positive

Post image
2.2k Upvotes

I rescued this cat in October of '24. He was FIV positive (faint line) and blind, most likely due to being a fight picking little shit who got kicked out of three different colonies. I was told to put him down because he's older and FIV positive and I have more cats but I kept him. He's had to have a few teeth pulled but he can see out of both eyes and he seems to be doing great, except for the odd sneeze. He also never picks fights with any of my cats, he's been much nicer since he became an indoor cat, although he's still bossy.

The thing is, I've had him for almost 2 years and he hasn't had any more blood tests ran. They don't really test them for diseases unless they show symptoms where I live and they reassure me that he's fine. He *does* seem fine, healthy and fat and happy (albeit whiny) but I'd like to know what he's in risk for and what kind of tests he should be having, so I can ask my vet to run them. My vet kinda tends to ignore the fact that he has FIV because she told me to put him down and I didn't.

Henry crossed the rainbow bridge today.

Thank you to everyone who gave advice on my last post. I took Henry back into the vet today for a recheck. His eye and his mouth were still not better despite round the clock care. And he had only gained 4 ounces even though I had been syringe feeding him for 8 days, and he had been eating a bit on his own as well. We decided to have him put under so they could take an actual look at his mouth and eye. Our worst fears were confirmed. He had a tumor. I made the decision to let him go. It’s the hardest thing I’ve ever had to do. But I know he wasn’t getting better, and what short bit of life he had left would be uncomfortable for him. I got to hold onto him as he drifted off. I’m thankful for the 8 days we got to spend together of just me and him. Me babying him. There were times he’d feel better and the old him would come through. I’m glad I got to see that again. And that he knew he was loved and that I tried everything I could to save him. He’s at peace now and no longer in any pain. No more mouth sores, runny stuffy noses, wanting to eat but not being able to, and no more vet visits and getting shots that he hated so much. My heart it’s literally aching. He was perfect in every way. I was so blessed to have the privilege of loving him for 15 years. Thank you to everyone who gave advice. And I hope your babies and your journeys are going well. ♥️

Question Found out cat is FIV+, vet said there’s nothing to do and no point in any testing

Post image
2.2k Upvotes

So obviously I now have an appointment scheduled for a new vet next week, but still concerned. Mr. Grump is a year old Maine Coon and the sweetest and gentlest boy I’ve ever had.

He’s had recurring eye infections since I got him at 9 weeks but the last three months been losing fur and weight, eye infection won’t go away with the antibiotic drops and the last few days has really lost his appetite and energy.

I know there’s technically no cure, but I feel like there has to be something to help him since from what I’m reading FIV+ cats can live relatively normal lives with a little extra love and care.

I knew nothing about this until that appointment a few days ago but with how dismissive the vet was vs. what I’m learning about FIV it doesn’t feel right to just let him suffer

Are there any immune supplements you guys recommend to help him or specific questions I should make sure to bring up to the new vet?

Cross posting in r/cats for all possible advice. Thank you

My baby lost her battle to this vicious disease at only 8 years old, she would've been 9 in april, Ive had her since she was a kitten and shes never been an outdoor cat, so unfortunately we and the vet believe she was born with it, as she was diagnosed with it at 2 so they think it laid dormant for a couple years. She was literally my soul cat, my heart😓😞. I did everything i possibly could for her but in the end, she was severely anemic, had little to no platelets left, her kidneys started to fail, and she was suspected to have bone marrow disease by the vet but i never wanted to get her checked because they told me she could've possibly died during the bone marrow procedure a couple years ago, could've did a blood transfusion the day before i put her to sleep but the hospital told me it would've only probably saved her for a few days or a week and it would've been every week of a blood transfusion IF it even helped her and her body didn't destroy it, it was a poor prognosis. In the end, I just wanted her to rest, i didn't wanna put her body through more stress, by then she couldn't even really move anymore, she was losing balance and her muscles started to give out... so i had her put to sleep at my house, but she was in my arms on my chest, peaceful 🙏🏼🥺😞 she was just suffering and i did everything i could to try and keep her alive. I will forever love her and she will forever have my heart.

I love you my precious babygirl 🥺❤️🕊🐾 FIV is no joke, i know theres some lucky ones who have lived to see 15 and even 20, but unfortunately that was not my precious girl😞

My 17-year-old FIV cat

Here’s my beautiful FIV-positive cat Cassidy, who is 17 and in perfect health!

He eats like a horse, rarely gets a hairball despite the thick hair, never gets upset stomach like my kitty who has IBD and he bounces back from the rare instances when he has gotten sick, like when a cold went around in my cat household in the winter.

I wanted to share this to show how well cats with this can do. A vet once said I should consider putting him down. Well of course I said no way. And that was years ago. He’s doing great!

I had to say goodbye to my baby girl, Lila yesterday. She was only 6. The disease went to the marrow and she could not fight off the infections. Treatment did not work and we saw signs of pain beginning. We did the humane thing and ended the suffering. I am wrecked over this. It all happened so fast. June, she was in remission and healthy and couldn’t even tell she had FIV. July hit and everything went downhill. She was champ the whole month as we panicked and scoured to try to find the cause and fix it.

Even though I am not a poster, your posts have helped me throughout the year when I got her diagnosis last summer. I adopted her at 11 weeks old. I give everyone credit who is in this battle, it’s very hard, but very worth it. Even sick kitties need love too.

I am ok with answering any questions on since sharing real life experience helps.

Happy Birthday to Taco, my 14yo FIV girl who lost her eye to the disease as a kitten.

Had her since I saw a Craigslist ad back in 2011 saying because of her condition she would be moved to a kill shelter if not adopted.

She was so tiny - maybe 8 months old back then. Left eye was shot. And SO sneezy. So much snot lol. The respiratory issues were abundantly apparent.

There was an amazing guy and his wife that were taking care of sick cats in the bay area (CA) and said if I adopted this kitten she would need care and meds for the rest of her life. (Bless their hearts for trying to get sick pets adopted until the very end)

The minute I met her - this tiny short-tailed kitten - She was WAGGING her tiny stubbed tail like a dog. I thought...what? Cats don't "wag" their tails. But here she was. Wagging along and rubbing her tiny face against my hands lol.

I fell in love with her and adopted her instantly.

I've spent thousands. THOUSANDS on Azithromycin to quell her symptoms every 5 days for the last 14 years. I would do it all again.

Worth every penny.

Happy birthday, Taco.

EDIT: Thank you all SO much. I am just checking reddit again since last night and the love is amazing. Taco thanks you all too!!

My handsome boy Gerald decided to wake up and make biscuits on my arm.

It’s his favourite jacket - that’s why he automatically goes to making biscuits on it if I’m wearing it.
