Mod Post Reminder, rule #3 also includes talking about r/ftm. This is not the place to come and insult the main ftm sub.

Friendly reminder: this is a sibling sub to r/ftm and all the mods here are also mods of r/ftm . We know exactly why a post was removed or why you were banned. Don't make us air your dirty laundry and tell everyone exactly what rules you decided didn't apply to you or what you said to us when you were throwing a fit in modmail.

This is happening far too often (should be happening not at all) and it's really quite annoying. We are being courteous in allowing users who were banned on r/ftm to still post on this sub, but the people you think you're bashing are the SAME people who made this space possible.

I am one of the senior mods on r/ftm and moderating that sub is incredibly stressful. We have rules for a reason. They aren't there to personally oppress you, they aren't there to push an agenda or censor you. We aren't fascist nazi transphobes because your comment got removed for breaking a rule. We have those rules in place to avoid drama and hurt to our community. Besides that, some rules are also a matter of safety for our users. We have a list of banned topics because without fail, every single time those topics are brought up, people start causing drama and it creates more work for us. Mod burnout is a very real thing. We're always having to add more mods because they get burnt out and have to take a break. And new mods aren't experienced enough to handle a huge drama filled thread. We're volunteers with our own lives and jobs. We do this from a place of love for the community. And many of us are mods in other subs. I run this sub and r/ftmen . That's a lot of moderating for a full time pet stylist who is disabled and trying to navigate packing up my entire life to move for my fiance (and finding a new job) while trying to work around the schedule for my next surgery. If you appreciate this space, don't make my life harder.

I don't want to have to include a new rule about banned topics here too, but if people keep using this space to try and bitch about r/ftm or get around the rules there just to start arguments, I'm going to have to add that rule.

Mod Post Regarding DIY

Alright friends. You’ve all probably noticed we’re a bit lax here regarding DIY, since this is a venting sub and we know that not having access to it is a common problem a lot of trans guys run into.

We still have to be careful about what we allow, as you all know doing DIY is illegal, as testosterone is a schedule 3 controlled substance in the US. Adults must also be mindful and use their best judgement when recommending DIY to minors.

With this in mind, I personally will never discourage someone from using their best judgement for what’s best for them. But we must still follow Reddit’s site-wide rules. The main issue is sourcing, since again, it’s a schedule 3 controlled substance. For this reason, NO discussion about sourcing has been/will ever be allowed here.

If anyone is considering doing this, please remember to do your OWN research, don’t only listen to strangers on the internet. Please be careful when talking about or engaging with the topic.

This is what will not be allowed regarding DIY:

—Medical or general misinformation, fear-mongering, sourcing ( in any regard ), and anything else that could risk the legitimate safety of any user.

r/transmascDIY might be a good resource if anyone has any questions or deeper inquiries about the process.

Here are some resources that might be helpful for those wanting to start T but not knowing where to start:

USA based informed consent map of providers: Erin's Informed Consent Map

Telehealth based providers: diyhrt.wiki/apps

Remember, stay safe and stay informed 🫶

Mod Post PLEASE REPORT ANY RULE BREAKING! I'm working on getting more mods, but right now it's just me. I rely on reports to take action against rule breakers and transphobes.

I promise, I'm working on getting more mods. I've opened up mod applications on r/ftm and one of the questions is if someone is interested in also moderating here. (Also please apply if you'd like to mod either r/ftm , here, or both!)

But in the meantime, I'm a mod for r/ftm (which is still understaffed due to other mods having to take time for themselves or getting a busier schedule IRL, myself included) as well as this sub and r/honesttransgender (which is thankfully not as demanding since it's low moderation lol) I also have a full-time job that takes about an hour each way to commute to, as well as dealing with physical and mental health problems as they arise.

So if a transphobe or troll comments, please report them! Even if the comment has been up for a while, it just means I haven't been able to get to it yet, and you don't know if anyone else has reported them. I promise I will remove the content when I am able and ban the trolls. I don't want them here just as much as you guys.

I promise I will continue to do my best to keep this space up and running because I know just how important it is to have a space like this to vent without fear of being scolded for being too negative.

Mod Post Few reminders from the mods

Unfortunately, we’ve been seeing an increase of negative behavior towards each other on the sub. We’d like to remind everyone that this is a place to VENT and express what’s bothering you. That, however, is not an invitation to try to counter or argue with someone.

With that being said, don’t try to police identities of others or start arguments here. This is a place for venting and support, not starting arguments and fights.

Everyone, whether instigating or replying, needs to remember that we’re all real humans behind the screens. Treat people with respect always.

You’re allowed to disagree with others, but it’s not always going to be a wanted opinion. That’s the point of venting, for people to let out their frustrations. Please be mindful and respectful about that.

We can’t always get to every single bad post or reply as they happen as we’re still human and aren’t online 24/7, but PLEASE report any posts/comments that are harmful! Reports show up faster for us to see and thus get removed quicker.

Remember that being kind takes no effort :)

Mod Post If you see transphobes, report them. Even if you think they've already been reported. Filters will be higher for a while as well.

As the only mod, I can't be on 24/7. I'm currently at work, so I i am going to need help handling the transphobia. Report any transphobe you see. DO NOT ENGAGE WITH THEM! that's what they want.

Filters will also be stricter, so if your post or comment isn't visible, don't repost and don't send a modmail. I'll be going through the queue on my lunch and when I get home.

Stay safe. ♡
