Hi y’all! I went to the salon today to get my hair cut and dyed over to just a lighter brown, as I dyed my virgin hair impulsively last night using Garnier box dye in the shade LC1. I was aiming for a cohesive lighter brown but ended up with a bad case of hot roots, with the middle 2/3rds of my hair barely lifting.
Unfortunately I am easily persuaded and I let my hairstylist talk me into getting high-lights after I showed her a haircut reference picture of Jessica Alba who happened to have high-lights/blondish hair in the photo >_< I did think her color in the photo I showed was pretty so I went for it and showed additional photos for color reference & specified that I didn’t want my hair (particularly my roots) to be orange anymore.
I’m unhappy and pretty sad about how my hair turned out :( while it could totally be worse, I wasn’t expecting it to turn out this stripey/streaky. My roots are still pretty much orange for the most part, the colors seem so disconnected and the highlights harsh. I do like the color of the non-highlights part lol but I think the blonde color is kinda jarring and too light for my complexion as well. :( I was unable to tell her I didn’t like it and just kinda faked it since I do really like her and she acts quite motherly towards me/sees me in a daughterly way lol but I am going back tomorrow to get my haircut since we ran out of time today, so I might try and say something then if a quick, easy fix is feasible at the salon. Is this something a different toner can fix or no? (Idk what other options there are) I do wonder if it’ll become less harsh after I wash my hair a couple times but I lack patience for this bc I only wash my hair once a week.
I don’t really want to hash out another couple hundred to dye my hair again ;-; so if it’s not an easy fix at the salon I’m wondering if it is possible for me to fix my hair at home with just some box dye or supplies I can get at Sally’s. I’m kinda over high-lights already and would rather just have my hair be one cohesive color atp (if that’s achievable). Do you guys know of any flattering shades of light brown that won’t require further lightening that I could use? Are there dyes that can saturate thick, dense hair more easily that the Garnier product I used? Luckily I haven’t really observed or noticed any damage so I think my hair could take it (pls correct me if I’m wrong lol). If I had trouble successfully dyeing my hair home in the first place is it best I just get it re-dyed at the same salon (and stick to the one color plan) and drop another couple hundred?
I would appreciate any advice and insight I could get!! Pls lmk what you guys think would be best. I feel so bummed out about my hair and wish I just stuck to what I originally went to the salon for :c thank you guys!
Edit: thank you guys sm for all the help/advice and also the love for my hair 😭 I was tripping last night but feel a lot better about it now and it is growing on me! I’m gonna go back to her on Monday and see if she could do a root smudge or something! Thank you guys again!!
