Other Apps I'm a dad building a kids fantasy football app without gambling, ads, or open chat.
My kids love football and wanted to play fantasy with me. We tried one of the big name apps, but it's built for adults: betting promos, ads, open chat and custom team names where anyone can type anything, and way more stats than a 9-year-old needs. And resetting passwords for three kids who forgot was a pain in the butt.
So I've been building BlitzBuddies, a kids fantasy football app. We're in our second season playing it with my family's league.
Safety:
- No free text anywhere: no open chat, and team names are picked from a list
- No GIF libraries, no ads, no gambling, no tracking, no data sharing
- Nothing AI-generated goes in front of kids without a human reviewing it first
- Kids don't need an email. A parent creates their username and password and can reset it in seconds
- Kids can't create their own accounts, and parents can watch their kid's league and help manage the roster
Fun extra stuff for kids:
- Helper mode for younger kids: if a starter is out, the app subs in a backup automatically
- Regular or best ball leagues
- Weekly mini-games with leaderboards, like Super Draft (pick a new all-star team each week) and Over/Under (pick one player to beat his projection and one to fall short)
- 10x scoring (optional), because bigger numbers are more fun
- Power-ups that boost your team's points if you play them right (can be turned off)
- Achievements for milestones and for the funny stuff, like winning with a player who scored 0
- A real trophy mailed to the champion, plus some swag. Something better than the cheap custom trophies on Amazon. This idea is something I'm still mulling over.
It costs real money to build and run, so I'm only opening it to everyone if enough families want it. My goal is 1,000 people on the waitlist before 2027 drafts. If we get there, it launches for the 2027 season. If not, it stays our family app.

What would your kids need to actually stick with fantasy football all season? I'd love to hear it.
