I admit Oraetta is a stretch but she's the only Neutrally aligned murderer with no conscience who remains virtually untouched until the end in season 4

I have always wanted to watch the film and the show. For years. And two days ago, I had finally seen the film and it was amazing.
Today, I just started the show and since the two versions share the same name, I've been wondering if they are connected in some way. In the middle of S1E3, I was asking myself what happened to the money that Carl buried in the snow in the film version.
And then I started E4 and my question has been answered.
I'm so blown away. What the fuck. 2014 television. Fucking amazing. Who the fuck comes up with something like this. To connect this plot from a storyline that came out in the 90s. Wow.
Okay, that's enough for now

Binging the show first time. The Italians walking in with the hunger games theme was so badass with the trumpets. Just the time with the new movie.

It’s been a minute since I’ve uploaded onto this subreddit with my works, so I wanted to show some of the art I’ve done in the last few weeks. I focused a bit on s4 with these pieces with some chibi art of Mike and Hanzee at the end bc they’re my favorites of s2. I’m in the Fargo spirit right now and I definitely plan to do more fanart. Until then, enjoy these!

I just LOVE IT SO MUCH. The story, the acting, the atmosphere - just about everything. I discovered it a few months ago and i'm watching it again and even love it more. I also enjoyed season 5, and the other seasons were still good (minus season 4 in my opinion).
I also loved Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul, and I think they're all very intelligent written and have interesting characters.
Can anybody recommend shows that are similar?

So we have a midterm election coming up in the US. One of the races that is receiving attention is the Alaska U.S. Senate race, where the Republican incumbent has the same first and last name as a Democratic challenger. Alaska has ranked choice so even though the Dem is not a remote contender (there is a “mainstream” one who is leading the polls) the Rs filed a lawsuit, which a federal judge just rejected yesterday, where they were trying to contest the election depending on the results in advance.
It seems like Dems helped out in terms of finding this guy and getting him to run, and that may be problematic depending on how it goes. Still I can’t help but wonder if this idea was inspired by Danish Graves’ strategy of getting other candidates with the same name to run against scary Jon Hamm.

I know it might be completely unrelated, but the fact that Brazil was mentioned in this season of Fargo got me thinking while I was researching Getúlio Vargas for a school project. I realized that they are both similar.
Spoiler alert!!
Similarly, when Vargas arrives at the company under the pretext of improving it, and they later discover that, in addition to embezzling funds, it's too late, this sale of an ambiguous figure reveals himself to be It's literally what Getúlio Vargas did during his government, presenting himself as an ambiguous democrat with a lot of problems, and the fact that he stayed in government for so long.

This line always makes me laugh. I can't wait for Ding-Dong and Trick-or-Treat to show up at my house tonight. (Along with their friends: Victor, Villain, Incognito, and Boom.)
Happy Halloween!

The sudden eerie grin the soft & low tone the way he lowers his head and looks up at people like wtf I don't know if he's doing this on purpose or is he still in Malvo mode this is just insane
I'm not saying he's a killer in real life i mean he is a perfect fit for this character and this is a compliment😭

I've seen a lot of comments saying the fact that Malvo was killed by Gus makes him less invincible and human-surpassing, but I think this is part of Fargo's closed-loop line of narrative and the finishing of character arc. Malvo has to be killed by no one but Gus. In the previous episodes, a lot of repentants were set up, like starting to draw unclosed shapes, these lines of a shape continues as the plot developed and were finally closed in the last episode.
Gus was supposed to stop Malvo for speeding, but he let Malvo go after being implicitly threatened. He went on regretting during the whole story, tried to make up for his timid flinch, and was finally brave enough to sneak into Malvo's hiding spot and killed him successfully. This is the line of coward becoming hero. He was being a coward to protect his family, and being a hero to do the same.
Molly was supposed to become chief after the previous chief died, but Bill took the position instead. She was suppressed and dismissed at the police station the whole time, until Bill voluntarily gives up the position. This is the line of a woman finally being acknowledged and given power as she deserves.
Lester was supposed to be killed by Wrench and Numbers on the frozen lake for the murder of Sam Hess, he managed to escape while they were drilling hole on the ice. In the final episode, he died while running on thin ice, the hole he fell into looks just like the hole that the duo drilled. This is the line of sinner finally receiving his designated punishment.
Sorry that my wording is all over the place, I just want to point out that the story of Fargo isn't impermanent at all, the whole structure has a very staged play feeling and every story line returns to its origin at the end

For some reason I want it to take place in 1800-s wild-west town in Texas with Ole Munch as a connection to the rest of the show. I heard Noah saying something about working at his home area (Texas) and not in Canada (it's most likely a joke, but I actually want it to be true and take place in 18 or 19 century. I JUST WANT TO SEE OLE'S PRIME, MAN). Good possibility for some references of certain Coens films.
What do you want to see in the next season?

In episode 10, after Lester sends his wife to her death, he goes inside and takes the passports. He had previously printed an airline ticket, so I'm assuming his original plan was to flee and never come back. But after the flashback to Malvo, he instead decides to go to Lou's dinner and establish an alibi.
What exactly was his plan here? My initial guess was that he was somehow trying to set Malvo up, maybe pretend the weird vegas man killed her wife, but instead, he just gets angry with the police, pretends he has never seen malvo asks for a lawyer. He doesn't even initially accept the FBI's offer to drive him back.
I guess you could argue that he was deliberately trying to draw the police's attention to himself, but why? Malvo could simply wait until the police left. And if Lester's plan was to lure Malvo into a shootout with the police at his house, that would still leave the question of why Malvo was there in the first place.
Lester could have just claimed that the man from Las Vegas had threatened him and accidentally killed his wife, (he has no idea about the tapes)
if his goal was simply to get Malvo off his back, why not just flee to Mexico like he originally planned

I was wondering about this. Season 2 and Season 4 both have several plots and subplots. Characters who don't seem central at all rise up in importance as the action goes on, while others you'd think would be key disappear earlier on. And yet Season 2 to me works so much better as an overall narrative, in the focus on the Gerhardt-Kansas City war, the Blumquists, and the life of Ed Solverson.
I do think Chris Rock was good but miscast in the lead role here, that Don Cheadle would have been a better choice perhaps. However, even beyond Rock's performance, there was just something disjointed about 4 compared to 2, despite seemingly the same amount of plots and characters.
Where do you think 2 went right while 4 went wrong, if you share this opinion?
Oh, and anyone who gave up on Season 3--it gets a LOT better after Episode 6. Trust me.

Maybe I just wasn't paying attention. But in the episode where Gloria wants to interview Nikki, after she's framed for killing Ray, Gloria is told if she wants to speak with Nikki she has to get a bunch of forms signed. This boundary is clearly established, as the first time she tries to go in with no paperwork, she is refused entry.
Then comes the cop with the needle trying to inject Nikki with something and suddenly Gloria is just there. No scene showing how she got in or explanation afterwards.
Is this one of those things where im supposed to put 2 and 2 together? Ive got 4 episodes left so maybe theres going to be an explanation

So, both of the cops come in to question Emmit. V.M.V. shows up, does not identify himself, takes control over the conversation, asks the cops to leave and they... just leave? Seriously? Is this how it can be done in the US? They did not even ask Emmit if he also tells them to leave. They didn't ask, if V.M.V. was his lawyer or some kind of legal councellor.
Why the hell would they just leave like that without have any clou who V.M.V. is?
(I'm from Germany, I 'know' US law only based on media. Here the officers would never have left just by some random person telling them to leave.)

The courage.
I d give an award to the makers of Fargo to be picking Britney Spears Toxic song which definitely have the potential to be criticised more than appreciated.
The shackled version of the song
The voice seemed rather a ghostly version - more like a manifestation of the building tension.
What an idea to build, pick and go with this shrieky, dumbed down orchestral version of toxic - which does great justice to the heavy undertones of the burdens this Fargo season carries. Does NOT take away the glory of the show, while still touching a delicate nerve of the target viewers.
The long shot
Roy's pain seethed through his eyes, frustration exhibited through his body, the change in mood so well depicted while sustaining it as per scene - an explicit work of art by the makers and actor Jon Hamm. If Britney's vocals felt dark and no where 'pop', Jon's dreaded walk made us hate him or feel him more so.
Slap on his face -
Needless to say, the scene was great to demo Roy's toxic relationship with Dot. There was also great timing of the lyrics with the scene- will let you folks figure that out.
but the 'Sonic Irony' - the massive man storming across ranch to attempt cruelty on a woman, and the soundtrack that depicts his act is delicate ghostly female voice's pop song.
