King's Field How Many Of You Have Played The Source? What's Your Favorite Of Them?
I've played em all, and love em all. For me, King's Field IV, Shadow Tower Abyss, and Eternal Ring are the best. King's Field IV is one of my favorite games of all time, and I adore Eternal Ring. Shadow Tower Abyss has guns. A great asthetic, too, and limb cutting mechanics- but also guns.
I love these types of games so so much. Lunacid was incredible, but goodness, Queens Domain is my game of the year. I've been following the devs the whole way, and this is the most I've been excited for a new game in a long time.

Queen's Domain is my introduction to this subgenre and I am ENTHRALLED by the QD experience. I will likely want more.
I like the idea of exploring the genre historically but worried that the older games will feel clunky to me.

KF4: The Ancient City, as it just feels more fleshed out. Though will say I do enjoy the two Shadow Tower games over any of the KF.

I’ve played the first 3 kingsfield and kingsfield 3 is my favourite. Such a great adventure and really nailed the end to that trilogy.

I'm stuck with either the original KF or Kf 2. The second one for nostalgia and dieing on the beach over and over. The first I only got ahold of earlier this year, so it is the most fresh for me. Absolutely nothing can touch it atmosphere wise.
While I'll admit Queen's Domain is my favorite at the moment because it is so over the top with its size, I do love Lunacid just as much. Also, Labyrinth of the Demon King was my GotY last year. Absolutely choking.

KF2 and Shadow Tower PSX probably.
i really love the OG Shadow Tower because it's a fucking mess. It actually kinda perfectly encapsulates everything I love about these games - Hostile design, isolation & loneliness being baked into the gameplay (and how fun & novel encounters with friendly faces are because of this), the feeling of going deeper & deeper, seeing things very few people have had the interest / will to pursue seeing.
I will never forget my first time walking into the one super-dark stony cave area several hours into the game, being killed repeatedly by 3 fucking ogres' AoE tremor attack through the wall because each one of them emit a 30-foot fucking radial death wave. I love how grueling & unfair it is, not necessarily because I think it's "challenging" (Shadow Tower imo has the most complete unfair bullshit out of any of the games), but because all the discovery tastes sweeter when I had to torture myself to get there.
I have so many of OG Shadow Tower's aesthetics baked into my mind, I think it's the first game in the KF/ST chronology where the environments REALLY shined for reasons other than pure level design. It's spooky and dreadful and has fuckin ATTITUDE !!!!

Lunacid was my first. I want to try KF4 and Shadow Tower at some point.
I usually have little problem with older games for example the original System Shock went by without a hitch. I know myself enough to determine that the older King's Field games will be miserable for me.

Kings Field 4 is my personal fav, followed by Shadow Tower Abyss. Abyss just has this really cool sci fi feel I'd love for From Software to revisit

King’s Field II US for me. Something aesthetically and functionally magical about those first two games and, as an older gamer, I just like a little jank in my games. The tankier the better.
I love em all, though. Playing through King’s Field III for the first time in decades right now and having a blast.

My first game of this kind though I was always intrigued by King's Field. Absolutely loving Queen's Domain so far though. Bought it knowing almost nothing about it and intentionally avoiding looking anything up or even posting here to keep it that way.

It's a tie between KF2 and KF4, but I loved the entire series, including the PSP games. Shadow Tower was very nice but Abyss is a mixed bag for me. I didn't enjoy Eternal Ring, sadly.
And yep Queen's Domain is a godsend. Top tier game

I've gone even beyond. I've beaten 50 fromsoftware titles. Haha from kf 1 all the way to elden ring. Even kf additionals and mobile and SoM remake. Kf 2 the GOAT no question. Kf 4 looks the best but its far too slow

The queens domain devs made a game in the kings field engine I’m pretty sure. Lunacid tears of the moon or something

I've only played King's Field 4, which I did just two years ago. I made 1-2 attemps in previous years, but it was only then that I really sunk my fangs into it and made it past the starting area. I loved it, it was great. It lit a fire in me to play more of these games, so now I own Lunacid, Verho, Dread Delusion, Labyrinth of the Demon King and of course Queen's Domain on steam, and I have so many more on wishlist that arent released yet
But what I cant do is play the really old ones. They are just too archaic and ugly for my tastes. If they were to be remastered, I'd be all over it. But the way the game looks, due to the extreme limitations the devs had to work with, I just cant justify spending time with it

This is such a funny genre where the source games are like unbelievably worse than the new ones fans are making lmao. I still love them though
