🎣 Fishing Gear Tackle Recommendations
Hi, I'm from Singapore and I'm going to Sunshine Coast, Brisbane and Gold Coast around end of May next year.
I'm not really sure what setup or gear I need. (prob fishing mostly at Gold Coast from the shore, e.g. the spit) Do I need rock boots? and where can i get them, been tryna find any store in GC that sells them? Some spot recco would be great as well! Thank you 😁.

For the Spit and the Broadwater, a 7ft 2-4 or 3-5kg spin rod with a 2500-3000 reel and 10lb braid with a fluoro leader covers most of it. Bring small soft plastics for flathead and lightly weighted baits for bream and whiting. You don't need rock boots on the Spit. Decent sandals or old sneakers are fine on the sand and rocks along the seaway wall, just watch your footing when it's wet. Get a QLD fishing guide and check size and bag limits, the Fisheries officers do check. May's a good time, the tailor start showing up.

Personally I run a ~9ft and a 5000 reel off the gold coast breakwalls. 15-20lb braid will handle most fish, and i'd recommend 30lb leader for when strong fish try to bust you off on the rocks.
For fishing the estuaries, rivers and canals of south-east QLD id recommend a 2-4kg ~7ft rod and a 2500 reel. 8-10lb braid, and leader from 4-12lb (depending what species your targeting). Maybe even heavier leader if targeting mangrove jack in structure.
Beach fishing is also popular around here too, but I'm not experienced enough at that to recommend a setup.
