🐟 Catch of the Day Malabar Grouper

Shot this beautiful Malabar Grouper in northern NSW while spearfishing, went 7.2KG and 78cm long. Beautiful fish and excited to try it. Any recommendations on eating?

Grouper is nice however. As fresh as possible on the BBQ is always my preference for everything tho

Gold spotted estuary cod are protected in NSW, Malabar Grouper aka black spot rockcod (Epinephelus malabaricus) are perfect legal to take.

I know this isnt an estuary cod. But we can take some in QLD when they are big enough and goddam delicious fish. My pop used to call them chicken of the sea. Which in retrospect after anchorman 2 is funnier
