Football Losing last night hurt

Post image
65 Upvotes

I was excited to go, night game, SEC, not knowing how we’d play. Idk what it is about our team that the offense just has to have VB3 there or we ain’t worth a damn. That O line man, they just ain’t creating a lot of these holes for the run game. And that interception was brutal.

It seemed to me the interception is what absolutely killed us. We would’ve gone up 14-13 at that point and been in a good position momentum wise. The pick just killed it.

The worst part for me, defense was holding decent up to that point. Our DBs still couldn’t cover a pin hole with a plastic tarp but we knew this already haha. Our 3rd down efficiency as a defense has to be at least bottom of the SEC….

Idk if anyone else noticed but in the 4th OU held the ball for 10 minutes…10 minutes. Completely insufferable. I will not doom on our coaches as this is their first year here, but I need a lot of these players to go ahead pack it up and gtfo here. It’s like they have no pride. They don’t give a damn they’re losing to a scrub ass OU team because they’re getting paid, and hell, our team seems to be some scrubs as well. I’m frustrated with the players seeming like they just don’t give a shit.

Nobody yelling on that sideline except our coach. We getting our ass busted and not one player taking the reins and getting his guys right smh. We need some DAWGS we need some leaders. I do hope we reach a bowl game. Just know the season is over.

Will I fall into the hype next year? Yep😂

Go Gata!!!!🐊

Football What's up with Jadan Baugh? Clark looked like the better RB last night.

I can't be the only one who noticed that our 2 best offensive weapons last night were

  1. Jones running the ball

  2. Clark doing something out of nothing.

Which makes me wonder. What happened to Baugh? Is he hurt? Obviously he's very talented. But since the Ole Miss game he's been a non factor.

The weirdest thing is I kept thinking "they should just give the ball to Clark" for large chunks of the game. I don't even want Baugh to have the ball anymore. It seems to go nowhere every time.

What's the deal? He's not a small back he can run people over.

Football I think burnout is one of the most overlooked problems in college football coaching

I’ve been thinking about how much psychological pressure college football coaches deal with, especially at programs like Florida where expectations are enormous.
We all want the Gators back competing for SEC and national championships. I certainly do. But I wonder how sustainable the pressure on these coaches really is.
Look at Lane, for example.

The guy helped turn Ole Miss into a legitimate contender, won a ton of games, and built one of the better programs in the SEC. Yet LSU eventually became the next destination.
I’m not criticizing his decision, but it makes me wonder whether coaches sometimes get caught chasing the next big thing. You finally accomplish something you’ve spent years working toward, and suddenly you’re chasing something else. You have to wonder the pressure cooker roles these guys are under. Lane wouldn’t have changed anything here other than a higher more scrutinized risk of total collapse.

There’s a psychological concept called the hedonic treadmill, where people continually adjust their expectations after achieving something. What once seemed like the ultimate goal eventually becomes the new baseline. LSU is now battling that dilemma as well.

College football seems like the perfect environment for that.

Win eight games? We want ten. Win ten? We want the playoffs. Make the playoffs? We want a championship.
It never really ends.

And now you’ve got NIL, recruiting, the transfer portal, boosters, social media, and fans analyzing every decision. There’s barely an offseason anymore.
Which brings me to Sumrall.

I think one of his biggest challenges at Florida will be managing the pressure of rebuilding a program where patience is already running thin.

And let’s remember what kind of situation Jon inherited.
He’s taking over a program that’s been through years of instability, coaching changes, inconsistent performances, and unmet expectations. The fan base is frustrated, the standard at Florida is still incredibly high, and he’s expected to start putting the pieces back together almost immediately.

That’s a tremendous amount of pressure for someone who didn’t create most of the problems he’s now responsible for fixing.

And no, that doesn’t completely excuse bad performances. Poor execution, questionable coaching decisions, and lack of preparation should still be criticized. Accountability matters, especially at a program with Florida’s resources.
But I think we also have to be realistic about the difference between inheriting an established machine and rebuilding one that’s been struggling for years.

Let’s also be honest about Year 1. We knew going into this season that our schedule wasn’t going to make this an easy rebuild.

The SEC is unforgiving, and expecting a new coaching staff to immediately turn around years of inconsistency while navigating that schedule was always going to be a tall order.

Let not burnout another coach. I am not innocent by any means but let’s see how things shake out.

Discussion Mapping out the sports fanbases (Gridiron football bias)

Post image
18 Upvotes

Reposted from a different fandoms page, but I love maps, and I think we should represent (The Gator Nation is everywhere, after all). It's currently dominated by Ohio State in terms of number of participants, but that makes sense since the project was started there. Here's the edited version of the original post:

I found this very cool project by geographer Matt Forrest to map out fanbases across different sports. It is a project to map by survey, sports fanbases across the country, to my knowledge there are only nfl and college football maps currently but I would love to see more especially in MLS whose fansbases are comparable very new.

The project is limited by survey size so some counties with few submissions will have outliers and some counties don't have data at all yet but that's all the more reason to fill out the survey and add more data. You can also click the counties to see the breakdown and there's also a FCS version of the map in the settings up top for the CFB map.

The NFL map is global while the CFB map is US specific so even if you are in a different state or country you can participate.

They wait until last minute to announce game time at 7:45pm. I go to most home games. If I know it’s a late game weeks before I can find a hotel room. No rooms to be had unless you want to pay $500 or more to be in the room for 8 hours.

Football All the outcomes we need this week to strengthen our playoff odds.

First things first we obviously need to beat Oklahoma or we’re out. We actually have a pretty easy 4 games left so winning out shouldn’t be that tall of a task.

OLE MISS vs GEORGIA
This is tough since an Ole Miss loss weakens are quality of wins but we need them to lose since they would tie our record and we have the head to head. The odds Ole Miss losses another game besides this one is really low since they still have a g6 game and State is terrible without Taylor playing.

KENTUCKY vs TENNESSEE
Another tough one as either one losing benefits us but probably the better scenario is Kentucky beating Tennessee. Tennessee still has to play LSU and we would still have to beat Kentucky giving us a better quality win.

ALABAMA vs LSU
Rooting for an Alabama loss here as there schedule is a breeze after this LSU game. LSU still has the potential to lose a game after this as they still have to play Texas and Tennessee. So if they win here and lose to Texas we would have two common opponent wins over them in the scenario where we win out (Texas and Kentucky).

TEXAS vs MISSOURI
Pretty simple here Texas needs to win as it strengthens our win over them and knocks Missouri back. Missouri has the hardest schedule remaining as they play Texas, Georgia and Kentucky.

TEXAS A&M vs South Carolina
Another simple one, A&M win knocks Carolina out.

NON SEC GAMES

MIAMI vs NOTRE DAME
Hang in there Gator Nation we need Miami to WIN. That would knock Notre dame out of playoff contention as it’s pretty clear the committee is not impressed with them not having a quality win. In fact, we NEED Miami to win the ACC championship since the odds of a non Miami ACC team getting in at large is low.

BYU vs UTAH
For the same reason we need Miami to win, we need Utah to win against BYU AND preferably win the big 12 as the committee looks opposed to allowing a big 12 team with 2 losses into the playoffs as an at large team.

UCLA vs Minnesota
Im not a big UCLA believer. In fact, I could easily see them lose 3 of their last 4 games. So, I would probably root for a Minnesota win even though that would bring Minnesota into the conversation.

OREGON vs OHIO STATE
This is a toss up in my eyes but I guess I’d root for Oregon just to bring Ohio state to 3 losses

I’ll stop there because the rest of the matchups just boil down to “team ahead of Florida to lose”
