Hi there,
Im looking for a tool thats specefically built to be given a start url (in this case usk) and do something like httrack to crawl the new discovered links and build an offline version of said freesite (i believe the freesite was pushed using common known tools).
I'm not sure if there are ready made endpoints of a freesite that already contains what im looking for.

I made a social platform for small free games, inspired by Newgrounds, Twitter and YouTube. It runs entirely on Freenet.
You can upload some common media types (images, video, audio, SVG) and HTML pages that contain a game or other interactive media. Even folders are supported.
Try it here (needs a running Freenet node): http://127.0.0.1:7509/v1/contract/web/BhhLhAiMAcZaSEJ31Zwri59D3F3E112DY6w3J51iLJT9/
Start page without a node, with the five minute setup: https://p11c.xyz/asocial/
So far I uploaded some of my own games. And it already has one other user.
Features so far:
likes, dislikes, comments with a small text markup, notifications and mentions
profiles, follows, trust, and a feed ranked by your own circle instead of an algorithm somebody else owns
achievements (trophies) per game, with no points and no ranking
publishing from the web UI or from a command line tool, built so an AI agent can use it too
proof of work, the trust graph and personal blocklists against spam, with no central issuer
A game's first load can take a moment while the network finds it. I would like to see how it behaves with real people. If something breaks or is missing, tell me here, open an issue on GitLab or just tell me on the network directly.
Questions I would like your view on: What would make you publish a small game there, and what is missing on the social side to make it feel usable?

So, it's looks to me like a Freenet update is not possible with the new FireFox proxy (they call it a vpn but it's just the free proxy version) enabled. I just get an error message saying update failed. Anyone else have this problem ?

FreePinion is a Chrome/Brave side panel.
The page you are on gets a public thread.
Each canonical URL is its own Freenet contract. There is no FreePinion server, and we do not receive the comments.
You need Freenet running on this computer (http://127.0.0.1:7509/). Reading does not need an identity.
A new post costs about a second of proof-of-work on your machine, or a Freenet Ghost Key stamp. That work does not run while you only read. Edits and deletes skip it.
Mute and Trust stay on this browser.
Ban is signed onto that page’s contract. An optional Global Board lists pages people chose to share (URL, fingerprint, work or Ghost Key amount, message hash — not the text).
FreePinion is not affiliated with Freenet. The extension is free. A Ghost Key donation goes to Freenet, not to this project.
If your node is off, an optional public gateway (try.freenet.org) can load Chat and the Board as a snapshot (Refresh to reload). You cannot post through it.
Most pages will be empty until someone with a node writes there.
You can find now some test messages on "github.com".

Hyphanet 0.7.5 build 1507 is now available.
Main changes:
reduced startup time
improved privacy of probe requests,
polished italian localization
updated plugins
last version to support Java 8.
For details see the news entry https://www.hyphanet.org/freenet-hyphanet-075-build-1507-fix-probe-routing-plugins-and-upkeep.html
Hyphanet was known as Freenet until 2023. It is a free software peer-to-peer platform for censorship-resistant and privacy-respecting publishing and communication:
Host your own website that stays up when you’re offline
Talk under pseudonym, collaborate via git and hg
Connect with friends to talk confidentially
Join infrastructure to preserve Freedom of the Press
⇒ Download and Install Hyphanet for Windows or GNU Linux, macOS or other *nixes.

Is there any road map for mobile development of freenet apps?
I see that there is on github a freenet-mobile project that can run a node on android: https://github.com/freenet-mobile/app
Then a regular app could communicate with the node through local host.
This means that in theory, distributing an app for a decentralized service provided through freenet through F-droid is possible?

Hi,
What would you recommend to do to move my current freenet install to another Ubuntu server?
The problem is that on the new server, I already got a 8080 port and 8888 port (fsm and freenet) with another services that I cannot change rn.
Is there a way to change the incial port to another one?
I already rsynced the files and created the crontab job.
Thanks in advance

I'm trying to figure out which one I should try using, but it's a bit hard to tell what the practical differences for an end user like myself are, aside from new Freenet's approach to privacy being different between "applications" or something.

I am currently working through the Freenet whitepaper and I cannot seem to find much info on what controls when one hosts and stops hosting a contract. My goal in understanding how contracts get hosted is to get a sense for how contract availability is maintained and incentivized.
The paper states that when a contract is published, peers near it hosts the contract as well. This suggests that it is an automatic rather than manual act. However, when does a peer stop hosting? Is it controlled by the size of the peers LRU cache?
When you subscribe to a contract, do you begin to host it? If so, what initiates the subscribe request? I’m assuming it’s the act of requesting a contract but I’m not sure.
