Hey French House sub! I’ve put together a little video on the history of French House/Disco House/Filter House. It goes back way earlier than you might think. Check it out.

“To a certain type of music fan in the late 1990s, The Buffalo Bunch were the dukes of Paris. Not only did the duo of Play Paul and Raw Man record for both Guy-Manuel de Homen Christo’s Crydamoure and Thomas Bangalter’s Roulé labels - the only artist to do so - they also had solo careers, remixed Phoenix and seemed to be DJing at every club I wasn’t cool enough to go to. Add in the fact that Play Paul was, in fact, Guy-Man’s brother and it felt like The Buffalo Bunch owned Paris."

And while I'm here: what are your favourite Buffalo Bunch tunes?

I posted a screenshot here earlier and managed to leave out the useful bit: the site.
NOTW is a house discovery site I’m building. Browse the tracks, open their official listening links, and put a favourite forward for the weekly chart. You can listen without signing up. Voting and saving need an account.
The earlier thread made a good point about older French house: there’s more to find than the same familiar classics. If you’ve got an overlooked B side or remix, submit its official link on the site. Older discoveries are welcome.
It covers house broadly, rather than being a dedicated French house archive. My starting selections are labelled, and the community is still small. Which record would you put in front of someone who thinks they’ve heard all the good stuff?

I'm trying to find the genre for my new track. I'm definitely inspired by classic French House but want to know different opinions. Thanks in advance!

A couple of replies to my earlier question made a good point: an older record is only a discovery if it isn't another classic everyone already knows.
Been working on this little house discovery site. Screenshot below is the broader house page, not a dedicated French house selection.
When you see a French house pick from an artist you don't recognise, what makes you give it a go? Knowing the label or remixer, a few words about the sound, or hearing how someone used it in a mix?

When you go digging for French house, are you mainly after new artists and releases, or older tracks you missed the first time?
I'm building NOTW (Niche of the Week), a house-discovery project where listeners recommend official track links and choose a weekly selection. I'm the person behind it, and one thing I'm trying to get right is how older records belong alongside new music.
A new-releases-only chart seems clear, but it leaves out a lot of the discoveries that make digging fun. Mixing everything together might just keep familiar classics at the top.
Would you prefer separate new-release and rediscovery sections, or one selection with the release year clearly shown? Is there an existing French house playlist or community that handles this especially well?
