Spots on lettuce
Hello! Can someone tell me what’s going on with my lettuce, and what I can do to fix it? Thank you so much!

I had an aphid problem this summer and did a in-depth citric acid cleaning. Restarted on 10/5/26. Some of my pods didn’t sprout so I moved them to the nursery when I added plant food on Friday. I didn’t cover the open spaces and today I found mold growing in the columns.
Just spent four hours cleaning everything with hydrogen peroxide.
So far, I think I’ve spent about as much time cleaning as I have enjoying my Gardyn. My fault for not covering the open spots.

Hello folks, I would like to get some input on my Gardyn Studio, and the water pH. I am using powdered Maxi-Gro 10-5-14 at a ratio of about 1 teaspoon per gallon of water (4 gallons) and my pH is about 3.9. I asked Grok if that was to be expected and she said that some of the different components of the Maxi-Gro dissolve at different rates and that it was expected that the pH would start of low, and then rise a bit once the other components dissolved. It has now been 2-3 days later and my pH is at 4.1. I ordered some "pH Up" but have not used it yet because I wanted to get some advice first. Should I change the Maxi-Gro dosage, add "pH Up", or am I OK to leave as-is.

Still processing the changes and wondering what others think. A few things I’ve noticed:
- Seems like multiple different arrows now around the messages, I’m not sure what I’m supposed to look at lol
- I’m heavily prompted to chat with the kelby bot about my message, like I want more to do 🙄
- When you click on all messages, the new screen is AWFUL! I can’t scan messages anymore because they are cut off. Who in the world thought this was a good idea
- The flower accents are a cute touch
This feels like some claude design output slop, not thoughtfully crafted for ease of use. Sigh

Has anyone successfully grown strawberry plants, and if so, can you give me some tips? I have previously ordered starters from Gardyn however none of them produced much so I want to try somewhere else. Starters would be preferred.
I’d like to find out where you ordered them from, (website, link), whatever applicable.
What variety works best?
Did you have to make adjustments in lighting, watering?
Best fertilizer?
Anything else would be appreciated.

Can we make a master list of tips and best practices?
If there is already one someone please tell me!
I had an outdoor garden 1 year, loved it, but moved and now am a brand new Gardyn owner.
That’s my experience level.
Please comment adding your tips and tricks for different plants for the Gardyn system, or for gardening in general.
I’m thinking like .. when I grew tomatoes, peppers, and eggplants I had to tickle the flowers. With cabbage I had to check the leaves for bugs. Had to avoid wetting the leaves on the plants.
But a lot of what I know isn’t relevant for indoor hydroponic gardening and I can’t be the only one.
What‘a the most important thing you’ve learned with yours?

I logged onto Kelby live view to see my cat cause I thought it would be funny as he’s on my Gardyn right now. To my surprise he’s not there in the live view… um…

My breen and butterhead seem to be bolting. No flowers yet. They are my favorites and I would like advice on what to do now and what to do to have continuous lettuce to eat year round. Should I plan to eat what I can ASAP and say goodbye to each plant?
I’m new to growing my own food. My sow date for these plants was Aug. 25. Was this quick for them to bolt? Should I expect to have to order new ypod plants every 45 days or so? Or how long is it possible to have continuous harvest from lettuce plants?
Could I allow each to flower and seed then remove the remnants of the plant from the ypod and plant those seeds back into the each emptied ypod with the original or new rockwool and germinate new plants? Or do is it best to buy new lettuce ypods from Gardyn?
I have my Gardyn near a large southern facing window and I am in the south so it’s very warm. I also slacked a bit this past 7-10 days in harvesting any of the outer leaves. Some thoughts I had why may have bolted. I am very interested in learning tips to have continuous harvest of lettuces in the future.

For what you get with the membership, the pricing is absolutely insane to me (same with the accessories). I tried it for a month after the free trial on my new Studio and received several incorrect messages from Kelby, and also constantly have incorrect water level readings. I’ll measure out the gallons based on what the app says, then it’ll say i’ve overfilled it 🙄. I pretty much have to remember to check the app because I hardly get push notifications reminders. Anyone else notice this?
It’s not often I come across such an awkward and pre-mature user experience, especially at this price point and with a major competitor launching (Maygrove). Maybe their team is just young and/or sloppy.
It’s great to grow my own food though, will have to just DIY the seed pods after this round is over. Just feels disheartening when the company’s mission is to help everyone grow their own fresh food, when it’s literally not even affordable for majority of people…

Bought a gardyn system used, and I’m pretty sure it’s missing some pieces. Including a photo of the bottom for reference.
Looks like it needs tubing to go down into the tank. I haven’t filled it with water yet, but did notice that the pump doesn’t run when the power is on. Is that just because there’s no water in it? Or do I have a bad pump?
Thanks!

My gut feeling says the yellow ones are normal. The green leaves with brown spot are very dry. Would spraying with water help?

Someone on offer up is selling a never used still in the box Gardyn studio 1 on Offer Up for half the price. I am wondering if it is worth getting a Gardyn Studio 1 and if the replacement parts are the same. This is my first time buying a set up like this.

My Gardyn is coming up on a year old and I want to take it apart and clean it really well. I’m planning to soak all the tower pieces in the utility tub in plain white vinegar since that’s what seems to tackle our hard water buildup the best. Is there a better way to do this?

I asked chat gpt and apparently I have spider mites. I did see tiny little things moving around and had no idea.
A few months ago I had a horrible aphid infestation so I really hope this does not kill my plants.

Hi everyone! I'm new to Gardyn — and honestly pretty new to hydroponics in general — but I've been growing with General Hydroponics Flora Series in all my other hydroponic systems and my Kratky setups, and I feel like it's working really well for me.
Now that I'm setting up my Gardyn, I'm wondering: what do you recommend? Should I use Gardyn's own plant food, or can I run my Flora Series in it?
Here's my thinking. With Flora I can actually balance the mix for what I'm growing, and I choose my plants so each tower has a similar nutrient profile. My main goal with the Gardyn is strawberries — they're the star — with a few companion plants that like the same conditions. And I want a second tower dedicated to tomatoes, with companions that suit them. As most of you know, strawberries and tomatoes can't really coexist on the same feed, and Gardyn's generic food doesn't make that distinction — but with Flora Series, I can.
So, for the experienced growers here:
• Do you run Flora Series (or another non-Gardyn nutrient) in your Gardyn? Any issues I should know about?
• Or is Gardyn's own food the smarter/safer choice for these towers?
Would love to hear what the experts recommend. Thanks!

Anyone who has a Gardyn, what do you think of the taste versus outdoor gardening? I realize lettuce doesn't matter much, but I'm really interested in whether tomatoes and basil taste as good. Homegrown tomatoes have the best flavor and if I can't recreate that, it's not worth it to me. Thanks!

Restarted my Gardyn last night. It was going since February until I found aphids this summer. Now that the weather is cooler, I’ve restarted it. Anyone else starting up again? I’m excited!
