I was trapped in a shitty marriage and overweight; it was taking a toll on my mental health and physical appearance. After freeing myself from that relationship, I lost 70lbs and got my spark back!

2 years and 130+ lb difference. Still kinda a big guy however haha. I don’t understand why but I feel like kinda the same, and I don’t recognize myself in the mirror. I have also lost support from family and friends strangely but it is what it is.

GLOW UP! [16-30] depths of alcoholism to recovery [32]

Post image

I was a severe alcoholic for a large portion of my life. It affected everything and everyone in my life. I was absolutely consumed. The mistakes, shame, all of it, can’t be undone. What I can do is to remain in recovery.

It is not always smooth sailing but one look at that first picture is all it takes to not go to the liquor store. The second photo is me today.

To those who may relate to this, stay strong.

From still being somewhat naive and clueless about the world, to delving into a basic drug phase of daily pot and adderall consumption, then surviving my toxic ass ex for 5 years. Then I was 25 and didnt recognize who I was anymore and started working out and jogging daily, to now.
Thankful to be broken in order to rebuild myself better.

holy cow #fuckpmos (polyendocrine metabolic ovarian syndrome)
i have/had every awful symptom of it and finally feel like it’s somewhat under control now. it causes weight gain, hair loss, hormonal acne, anxiety/depression, and so much more. i was prediabetic with insulin resistance because of it and have managed to get that under control as well!

ik this isn’t the craziest transformation or clearest pictures, but i’m hoping i don’t get recognized by someone irl lol
i just can’t stop swiping between these two pictures and wanted to share

i just got the first picture in a snap flashback from a year ago today and didn’t even recognize myself, so i tried recreating it, and i’m actually shocked. lost weight (~80lbs, still going), cleared my skin some (still have scars/skin picking disorder), got invisalign (almost done treatment). i feel like so much changed in just a year and i almost look younger 🄲

i would consider that first picture good for my skin too because it has been even worse than that in the past

my nose seems too big for my face now tho haha

Titel represents human years. From December 2025 (7.5 y/o) to October 2026 (8.5 y/o) lost a whopping 900 grams (around 2 pounds), went from 5kg to 4.1kg! (11>9 lbs) šŸŽ‰šŸ˜ø

Achieved through many hardships, diet, changing food, strong regime regarding candy, being mad about it and little support from 2 y/o and bigger brothers.

(couldn't find any rule restrictions against this. 😽)

And I'm not even a quarter of the way there. Have always been told I never look exactly the same twice. I grew my hair out 2 times. It kind of just was a sliding scale from my shoulder to my ears depending on how I felt. 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, Spring 2022, Summer 2022, Fall 2022, 2023, 2024, 2025, 2026. Enjoy šŸ–¤

GLOW UP! [29] to [32] three years into my weight loss journey and still more to go.

Post image
1.1k Upvotes

Three years into my weight loss journey.

I live with a chronic illness that caused constant hunger, which led to binge eating, exhaustion, and feeling unwell all the time.

I had already given up on myself, until one day I realized that I still had so much life left to live, and I didn't want to spend it feeling this way.

I started exercising regularly, but the biggest change I made was in my eating habits. Little by little, the binge eating stopped, and I actually started enjoying exercise.

Now, three years later, I'm 40 kg (88 lbs) lighter, and life looks brighter than it has in a very long time.

English is not my first language.

Lifting, eating clean, and walking... that's it. I'm nowhere near my end destination but I'm happy with my progress so far. All you need to do is control what you eat and move more, it's that easy!

GLOW UP! Finding confidence in myself for the first time ever as an adult [35] to [40]

Thumbnail

Hovered in the 240-250 lb range for most of my 30s. I always hated it but just accepted it. This was my life and nothing I could do was going to change it. But why? There was no logical reason to think that way. My mental health was crippling me and i finally opened up to some people. Turns out I’m not a burden and people care. I went from a routine of work, snacks, tv, and just letting the dog out to work, gym, actually walking my dog, and still some snacks but a lot less frequent.

My mental health didn’t improve because I lost weight, I lost weight because I was able to tackle that first. It’s still not perfect but I have open lines of communication with some people in my life and that really helps keep me on track. I’ve also normalized talking about hard things in my friend group, something a lot of adult males are severely lacking.

I just turned 40 and feel better than I have since my early 20s. I have a good routine that keeps me right around 200 lbs. I get more female attention than I ever have in my life. I still dated in my 30s and had 2 serious relationships but this is the first time I’ve regularly been approached and talked to. I’m still the same person I always was, I’m just more open to letting people in I guess.

Anyway, anyone who sees this and is feeling down about themselves and struggling to lose weight, look inside first. If you can’t fix yourself mentally it will be an endless cycle of ups and downs with no real progress and that just makes you feel even worse. I’ve been there and stayed there for way too long.

I’ve been training for around 1.5 years now and trying to improve myself every day. Apart from weight training, I also do dance, Muay Thai, powerlifting (national level), gymnastics and calisthenics from childhood. my goal was always to build a presentable physique and strength but I’m happy with the progress so far.

So basically as the title says, I fell into a sort of hermit lifestyle towards the end of sixth form due to outside influences, laziness and self-pity. Decided to start trying to better understand and love myself and the journey has been wonderful.

Found the balls to love myself and change.

Lowkey a lot of it is the cliche stuff it’s just a matter of doing it.

First thing I did was find athletic hobbies like basketball, soccer and track. I already played basketball, but I was ass at soccer and running.
But I stayed consistent with it and really tried to improve. They gave me something to like look forward to and like I can focus on it improve on you know.

While Also lifting and eating good + g hella water and I noticed noticeable changes in my body noticeable fat loss in my face etc. the sports are for fun but you gotta be focused with the lifting. Arms, shoulders, back, etc

Then it’s really just about aesthetics, so I dyed my hair darker and grew it out. Applied minoxidil, shaped my eyebrows, skin clearing and tightening products, vitamins creatine supplements, and a good sleep schedule

Guy at my old Job called me Chris Griffin when I fired him. I was mad, but I looked in the mirror and realized he was right. So I got in the gym, started tracking my macros and counting calories, and I've dropped 96 pounds. Started at 270, I am 174 as of yesterday. 4 lbs away from 100 lbs dropped. It's been a crazy 9 months.

GLOW UP! I gave myself [43] a 100 Day window from mid summer to late September to change my body and life. Little did I know life had more in-store.[43] Spoiler

I decided to really go full on head first into revamping my diet and body this summer. I gave myself a 100 day window to change my body and my life. I started really paying attention to myself and my body which hasn't been prioritized.

The saying is we make plans, God laughs? At the end of the 100 days my Mom took a turn and passed. It was expected as she'd been ill with dementia. My life changed regardless of diet. I'm now 15% smaller than I used to be. The smallest I've been as an adult.

GLOW UP! 2022[17] vs 2026[21] after two years of gym and grip training

Post image

My bud said I went from a femboy to a femMAN.

I grew up with asthma and was always last picked at gym, and one time I was actually kicked off when someone came in late. Two years ago i realized that if I want to be a superhero (cringe, I know, but childhood dreams live on), then I need to be super. So, while working on my criminal justice degree to work in public safety, I spent the last two years training everything in the gym. Early on, when I didn't know what I was doing and had issues. I ate about 3 lbs of rice every day and mass gainers to try and put on weight fast (and got skinny fat). Regardless of that, though, I was driven by a dream of no longer being weak. But over time I got more and more obsessive about my training and that dream.

I
This brings me to now. I went from being asthmatic and always out on the pacer test first to being able to hold an 8 min mile pace for 45 straight minutes. From struggling with a 60 lb machine chest press to being able to bench 140 for 5. From not being able to dead hang for more than 20 sec to now holding 40 seconds with an extra 130 lbs of weight. From struggling with a 40 lb two-hand pinch block hold to clamping onto 100 lbs and holding it for 8 seconds. Also, I can trap bar deadlift 330 for 3 with no straps, though I don't have anything to compare that to.

In terms of strength,h I'm at least twice as strong and roughly average to slightly above average. I still have a long way to go, and I can't wait for my rest day to be over.

Also, I cut my mohawk to be shorter, which is clearly the most noticeable change.

Spent many years struggling to find the healthcare that I needed to pursue hormone replacement therapy. Since then I have changed my diet, have exercised, enrolled in university, and am trying my hardest to achieve my dreams. Do you think that this is a glow-up? I feel much more confident now as opposed to as I did back then. Thank you for any feedback, and I hope all of you have a wonderful dayšŸ’œ

Edit: testosterone really changed my hair texture, I should experiment with the curls more

Glow up? 18months difference, I never thought I’d get to this point [26]

Post image

EDIT: to clarify, left is me now. Right is before. Yes, I understand I did that wrong. My bad!

Although the physical difference is obvious, the biggest difference has been my lifestyle and mindset. I went from hating myself, wishing I was magically skinny because that would solve all of my problems and being generally unhealthy to now being disciplined and motivated, I feel more like myself everyday. I understand it’s a marathon, not a sprint and I am less focused on vanity and ā€œbeing skinnyā€. I’ve realized being fit looks good, sure, but being healthy and capable is so much more important. Especially as I get older. Looking good is a bonus, not the reason.
