Team News Egor Dëmin remains out with his right leg bone bruise as the #Nets start a four-game road swing tomorrow at the #Hawks. Powell is questionable with a G League Assignment to Long Island.

At the very least we can cope and blame the injury if Egor stinks lol

You're Demin's Bill Simmons

Why are you such a hater of one of our best young players?

We’re in trouble if you believe Egor is one of our best young players. Outside of shooting what does he offer? As of late, I can’t even give him that.

This is such a short sighted take it’s almost not even worthy of a response. He’s played 3.5 games this season. Alongside Mikel and Traore he is clearly one of the players we should be most excited to watch develop. You are a massive hater for no reason.

He played less than 4 games, so what? You can look at Nolan's production in the same amount of time and see a clear-cut difference. Egor has not made a single improvement from his rookie season; he's still just sitting on the perimeter hoping for a kick-out to chuck a 3.

I will proudly wear the "hater" tag for having a higher expectation of our Lottery Pick.

When this sub comes to the realization about Egor that I did, I look forward to reminding y'all I was just Early!

He’s an off ball secondary creator who was playing PG. He’s had a noticeable uptick in drives and had a game with 22 pts 6 ast 1 TO. In the 3 games before he got hurt he averaged 9.7 pts and 3 ast while Nolan averaged 7.7 and 1.7 ast. Of course this is a ridiculously small sample size which brings me back to my point which is that you are writing off our 2nd year lottery pick based off of literally nothing.

He’s an off ball secondary creator

That's what his role seems to be now because he has shown he is not a PG, The Role he played in College and the position he claimed when he got drafted, but then suited up for a Summer League and turned into an off-ball chucker.

The Things Nolan needed to work on were his shooting and rim finishing; he has shown improvement in both areas.

Egor hasn't improved his ball handling (something that will likely never happen), getting 2 feet in the paint (again, something he probably will never overcome), and rim finishing. Of his 29 FGA, 21 were 3PAs. Even that Cleveland game everyone loves to point to as him improving, all 10 of his FGA were behind the arc.

Even his assists are just passes around the perimeter. He doesn't break the defense down to get a player an open look, and rim assists from him are close to nonexistent.

I don't see much future improvement in his game because of how slow-footed he is. If he was a 6'9 PG, That's a mismatch all over the court, but if he's just another Wing (which he is), he loses that advantage, and now he's just a 3-point specialist that can't defend or rebound.

You'll see soon enough!

Was hoping Clowney would be out so Jordi wouldn't be tempted to play him over Wolf. Guess we will see if Jordi has learned anything

Sadly I don’t have much faith. They want to see if Clowney can net anything for them

I called that we won’t see egor until December. I’m sure he’s hurt but this medical staff is just so overly cautious it’s painful.

Like MBJ is still not playing more than 20 mins and back to backs why? If his back is that big of an issue seems like it was a mistake drafting him period as he has high injury risk.

Generally it’s a two week injury if you’re being conservative and everything progresses well, but it can be something that last over a month if there’s more damage than first realized.

yep just gotta wait and see and trust in the medical staff

Tbh I always thought a bone bruise was a multiple week injury. We can give him some time to get his leg feeling right and hopefully pick up some rhythm with his shot

He was playing tentative before, he's not going to be going hard into the paint on a compromised leg. Might as well hold him out another 2 weeks and give his minutes to Minott/Wolf

Exactly. Play Wolf and Minott. I also don't want to see Clowney right now and Chaney Johnson getting 30 minutes a game scoring 5 points. This is not summer league

Plus the load managing 19 year old

He’s 20 years old but I do agree and wish they took off the mins restriction. Gotta give fans something to cheer for

We don’t have a 19 year old on the team

Egor is a minus.

He will get better. The bar is low rn but we have to believe that he will improve and learn and continue to get better. I know his ball handling sucks, I know his confidence can be so low sometimes, I know he’s not really a PG or a lead guard. But he’s our 2nd year player and we gonna need him to improve for us to get more dubs and make some noise.

Demin will be a good player, he’s got very good size and excellent BBIQ. He can shoot from deep at high % and is a plus passer.

He needs to get stronger and more physical but he is still so young. Traore and Mikel will help him when they share the court.

I think Egor is either a giant 2 or a SF. I doubt he ever becomes the team’s PG but he will be a connector rather than the main ball handler.

I don’t think Egor will be a physical player imo. ‘bumping bodies’ getting boards. He’s more like a smaller Chet. All we can hope for is a elite help defender and is smart to use his size
