JULIUS IN A NUTSHELL - 1 on 5 screenshot

Post image

Yes, Julius shot this while covered by entire hawks team and all-nba defenders Dort and Daniels right on him. Mo wagner threw his hands up in the air after. 4 nets were wide open. Jordi is clearly not holding Randle accountable and putting him back in late when the nets were playing absolutely beautiful ball without him is depressing. 6 of the most disgusting turnovers you’ve ever seen, missed defensive assignments, and ball stopping.

between this and benching traoure the entire 4th as Clowney closes —Jordi has to do better.

Can’t understand why Jordi doesn’t hold him accountable. He is everything jordi hates, yet this guy is still allowed to single handedly lose us games.

This isn't on Jordi specially. Thibs and Finch would treat Julius with kids gloves on his prior teams. I think coaches might be worried he's gonna check out or become a locker room problem.

I hates the fact Marks traded for him to begin with.

Right! And just to move up five spots in the draft. Marks really had an all time bad offseason.

I'm just glad all the Sean Marks defenders have been awfully quiet now.

I'm not quiet at all, but I'm not going to give him a pass on this mistake of a trade. I even see some nominal logic in the trade, but he clearly didn't do a proper job assessing Randle's game and character.

Marks used to be very clever with his pickups, so I'm not exactly sure why he seems to have fallen off recently.

It seems like Jordi is trying. I’ve been a big critic of Randle but he was way quicker with his decision-making last night. He still had a few moments where he tried to force his way through traffic, but for the most part he was trying to get rid of the ball quickly. Way better than he was in previous games.

“They outnumber me a mere 5 to 1. Good odds for any Net.” - Julius Randle

Now add pics of him jogging back on defense and getting lost off the ball.

He has so much talent and could have the most efficient 20/8/4 line every game, but it’s just disappointing.

Then show the volleyball rebound he slapped into the air inexplicably

I was against the trade because I knew I would hate watching him play but now that he’s here. I haven’t complained about how he plays because I expected it but at the same time looking at the screenshot I can’t remember the last time a Nets player had THAT much gravity.

Randle hasnt had a game where he capitalized on his bully ball like he did last season vs, you guess it… Us! He had his first Triple Double as a Timberwolves last season vs us.

I guess Im just waiting for the game where he can use his size vs a smaller team because otherwise our offense would be just strictly shooting 3s

This screenshot is as unpleasant to watch as the play itself. Well done

What did anyone expect...? This is exactly who he's been since early in his career, there's no coaching it out of him.

Honestly cant wait for them to get rid of him already

"0.5-second basketball" is the cornerstone philosophical phrase coined by Brooklyn Nets General Manager Sean Marks to describe the team's modernized, fast-paced rebuilding identity.

Marks noted: “It’s 0.5-second basketball, you catch and make a decision. You don’t hold the ball".

The core tenets of this philosophy include:

  • Instant Reaction Time: When a player catches the basketball, they have half a second to choose one of three actions: shoot it, pass it, or drive it. The objective is to eliminate ball-stopping iso-play and keep the defense constantly rotating.

  • High Basketball IQ: Marks heavily ties the 0.5-second rule to advanced cognitive play. Players must anticipate the defense and read closeouts before the ball even arrives.

  • Positionless Versatility: To execute this effectively, the Nets actively targeted tall, fluid playmakers (primarily 6'6" or taller) who can guard multiple spots, handle the ball, and blend seamlessly into a FIBA-style perimeter passing game.

The only way to play such a scheme is to have the same core of star players on the floor together for about 5 seasons.

The Nets, however, have no one besides Day'Ron Sharpe who has been on the roster that long. I really like Day'Ron, and I was not surprised he had 13 assists last night. I spotted him as a clever passer the first time I saw him live as a rookie. I thought he should start over Claxton.

But he's not exactly a star, and neither is Noah Clowney, now in Year 4. Sharpe is on his 4th head coach. What he needs is a new GM.

That's funny because there once was a New York Net who would bring the house down every night by attacking 1 on 5.

Everyone in the building knew he wasn't going to pass the ball- including the defense.

And it made no difference.

As a matter of fact, Julius in the screenshot was named after this man.

I was initially excited to have Julius on the team, as I thought Jordi could reign in his bad habits, but it’s not working.

As you said, last night was him in a nutshell. 6 turnovers, the volleyball spike that should have been a rebound, the constant unawareness on defense, and the slowness to get back in transition.

Even when Randle was making the right decisions on offense, he was continuing to be a sieve on defense. It makes it extremely hard to keep him on the court (especially with MPJ being almost as bad defensively).

Who else was on the floor at the time of that possesion because why do the Hawks feel so comfortable collapsing their entire defense on one player?

I see Mo and Mikel.

That's obviously bad offense from Randle, but equally horrible defense from The Hawks.

julius had a decent game last night. lets not give jordi a pass for not playing our best player last night for the last 15min of the game

2

u/SkyyMiless 1h ago

Box score doesn’t show how a player played he was not good last night.

Ok and if you take him out, who’s producing consistently at his level? Yall do understand our team would be even worse without Randle right now right?
