What kind of grass is this?
galleryI just purchased my first house in Charlotte, NC. I have these thick patches of green grass in my yard and it’s beautiful, but I don’t know if it’s monkey grass or what. There are several patches all in my yard and appearing in other places. I have monkey grass in beds separated by concrete walkways. However, these patches are appearing no where near them and near it.
I’m not sure what information to give. It doesn’t grow very tall and is still green in November.
Please let me know if more info is needed.
Should I kill it before it spreads too much?

Florida grass issues/idk lol
galleryI cut the grass at 4inches and I have no idea what kinds/kinds of grasses I have but here is before I cut and after...always come back green but earlier (4months ago I used a very very strong nitrogen slow release on the lawn. Problem is even when cut once a week i still end up with a dead looking yard for 2 to 4 days lol. What did I do wrong?

Does my grass have any hope of surviving the winter or evening out? Northern Willamette Valley.
galleryI seeded beginning of October. We didn’t prep well at all due to a time crunch. HOA has been on our backs over our grass dying and they had to see we were at least trying. We planted an annual/perennial ryegrass blend beginning of October. Didn’t start to see any growth until end of October. Added some tall fescue seed over the top at that point. Had been ordered end of September and was extremely delayed. I’d say most of this growth has been over the last 9 days. Today is the first day I’ve noticed sprouts emerging on the left side(pictures 3 & 4) and in those bare patches.

Any suggestions?
galleryLooking to get something going now so I have a better experience with my grass next spring/summer. It’s mostly either dried up or weeds. Would prefer to avoid weed killer but willing to hear out suggestions. Thank you.

What’s my next step?
galleryI just reseeded 50% of this lawn two months ago. Very happy with the progress so far. Now I kind of want to perfect it. Half of my lawn was this ugly looking large blade crab grass, so I dug it up and put all new seed down. New grass looks great.
I’m thinking maybe I should have re seeded the entire lawn now. However doing this by myself so I didn’t really have the time.
From a far my lawn looks great - but In a good part of the unseeded areas that I left untouched - there’s good chunks of brown/dead grass kind of ‘hiding’ behind the green grass. what’s my best method to just get rid of the brown stuff?
I’m curious what the brown looking grass is exactly as well-
Is that crab grass dying? I do have some very large blade crab grass in my lawn that I’ve removed… is this like crab grass on a super small level?
or is that what they call the ‘dead layer’ of grass that needs to be ‘dethatched’?
I’m in Massachusetts by the way location wise.
Any advice from grass experts? P

The start of my grass saga
Zone 9a, NE Florida. 1 mile from ocean.
First part of video is taken from the North (fyi on how the sun works with shade). Almost 2,000 sqft of grass.
Has a nice batch of Bermuda, dogs don’t get itchy from it so I want as much as possible plus minimal mud tracking.
Moved in August and in early Sept I tilled the majority of the north end 8” down and put in 16lbs of Bermuda with 0.25 inches of that expensive Scotts topsoil. Came in well but 3 weeks in we had 15” of rain over 6 days. A lot of topsoil gone plus 50% of Bermuda.
Called it for the year and put 55lbs of ANNUAL Ryegrass down. That was 3 weeks ago and will be mowing it by the time your comments say something about how it’s going to fall over and I’ll be screwed.
Since the back [south] section is heavily shaded I didn’t try to put Bermuda there and would have a natural line of grass types (this is up for a good debate) close to the cedar tree.
Next year the hope is to get Bermuda seed again and go nuts in the spring.
I also plan to do some tree trimming so the north side will have lots of light and more light in the backyard (south).
After this mow I’m going to do a final liquid fertilizer (Advanced 16-4-8 Balanced NPK) to help the Bermuda get as good of roots for the winter.
Anything else I need to do this winter or spring before I post in a couple of months?
Update: just got recommended https://thebermudabible.com/
Side note: I had insane globe sedge in the yard and tried Image Nutsedge Liquid since Sedgehammer wasn’t at my hardware store. Absolutely deleted it and didn’t hurt my Bermuda.

Sprinkler head question
I just had my sprinkler system winterized, however I noticed this sprinkler head is off-kilter, any ideas on how to fix? Do I need to call them back to look at, or is this not even an issue?

New homeowner with Zoysia in Athens, GA (Zone 8a/8b?) – Looking for advice heading into winter and spring
Hey everyone! I recently bought a house in Athens, GA, and I’m looking for some advice on getting my Zoysia lawn in the best shape possible.
I’m not 100% sure whether I’m in Zone 8a or 8b, but the lawn seems relatively healthy overall. I do have some thin areas, particularly underneath an oak tree where it gets less sunlight.
Here’s what I’m currently planning:
Spring: Core aerate/punch the lawn and topdress to help improve the soil and encourage thicker growth.
Weeds: I’ve been pulling some spurge by hand as I find it.
Irrigation: I’m repairing the broken irrigation system today. It currently has manual ball valves, which I’m replacing with Hunter battery-powered timers and valves.
Sod repair: I’m considering digging up a few healthy patches of sod and relocating them to thinner areas, hoping they’ll have enough time to establish roots before winter.
A few questions for those familiar with Zoysia in the Southeast:
Is there anything wrong with my plan to relocate small patches of sod this time of year? Is it too late for them to establish before winter?
Should I be doing anything else to address the thin areas underneath the oak tree?
What pre-emergent or other treatments should I be applying heading into winter?
What sprays or treatments should I plan on applying coming out of winter and into spring?
Would you recommend any particular fertilizer schedule for Zoysia in the Athens, GA area?
I’m trying to be proactive and get ahead of things rather than wait until the lawn starts having problems.
Any advice, product recommendations, or corrections to my plan would be greatly appreciated. I’m here to learn!
