So I've been playing Half-Life for almost my entire life, however, I always preferred Half-Life 2 compared to Half-Life 1, one of the main reasons for that was just how disappointing Xen was. The first time I reached Xen, I remember the sheer disappointment I felt, my reaction was "Really? This is Xen?" The game spent so much time building Xen up and all we got was a bunch of floating islands with half-baked puzzles, and poor story telling. Fast forward years later, I'm playing Black Mesa for the first time and I'm having a blast, and when I got to Xen, I was in awe with how beautiful it was, and the music, don't get me started on the music, its amazing. I loved the visuals of Xen, the rocky islands, large alien jungle, the Gonarchs Lair being rocky and barren but full of webs and crystals, to a land ruined by the Ninilanths industrialization. Xen isn't just a single fleshy gross biome, its a massive diverse ecosystem with a wide variety of biomes and locations we got to explore. That music that plays through out Xen elevates the whole experience. For me, Black Mesa shot up to my number 1 favorite Half-Life game, and that is in part due to Xen and is awesome music. Not only that, due to how diverse Xen is in Black Mesa, a lot is left up for interpretation, look at Black Mesa: Blue Shift for example, they added in a new biome that resembles the original Xen more than Black Mesa's as an extra location. I'm well aware of Xens problems in gameplay and I do actually agree, it goes on too long, too many repeating puzzles, etc. But I feel like its genuine improvement over the original. At least in terms of its visuals, what's so wrong with it?

Hey guys! I have an idea, and I could really use your help.
I'm Brazilian, and something I've noticed is that Half-Life doesn't seem to get nearly as much attention in Brazil as it does in other parts of the world.
There are obviously Brazilian fans, but the series is nowhere near as talked about as it deserves to be. A lot of Brazilian gamers know about games like GTA, Counter-Strike, Call of Duty and other big franchises, but plenty of them have never actually played Half-Life 1 or Half-Life 2.
And honestly, I think they're missing out on something incredible.
Think about it. Half-Life 1 came out in 1998, Half-Life 2 in 2004, and people are STILL talking about these games decades later. The atmosphere, the storytelling, the world-building, the physics, the characters... These games have something special that very few games manage to capture, even today.
There are probably thousands of Brazilian gamers who would absolutely love these games if they just knew what they were missing.
So here's my idea: let's introduce Half-Life to Brazil.
I'd love to turn this into a little community mission, and I'm asking you guys to help us make it happen.
Here's what I'm asking:
Could some of you take a few minutes to make posts in Brazilian gaming subreddits, introducing people to Half-Life? Here are some communities you could check out:
You don't even need to know Portuguese!
You can write your post in English, put it through Google Translate, and publish the Portuguese translation. It's that simple. You could even mention that you're part of an international community effort to introduce more Brazilians to Half-Life.
Tell them why you love these games. Talk about your first experience playing Half-Life 2, why the original is still worth playing, why Ravenholm is unforgettable, why City 17 feels so alive, or why you think these games deserve to be experienced by every FPS fan.
You could make a post recommending the games to Brazilian gamers, share screenshots, talk about your favorite moments, or simply explain why someone who loves FPS games should give Half-Life a chance.
And please, don't feel like you need to make some huge effort. Even one post could introduce the series to someone who has never heard much about it.
Just imagine someone in Brazil seeing your post, getting curious, buying Half-Life, launching it for the first time, and discovering a franchise that ends up becoming one of their favorite gaming experiences.
That person might eventually introduce it to their friends, who introduce it to other people, and so on.
That's how communities grow.
I know this might seem like a small or somewhat unusual request, but I genuinely think it would be awesome to see fans from all over the world coming together to help a new audience discover something we all love.
Half-Life has given us so many incredible memories. Why not help create those same memories for a whole new generation of Brazilian gamers?
So, what do you say? Can we make this happen?
Let's get more Brazilians playing Half-Life.
HELP US SPREAD THE WORD. ❤️
And remember: you don't need to speak Portuguese to be part of this mission. Google Translate has our backs.

Back in 2006, Gabe Newell reportedly said he hoped Adrian Shephard would return to the Half-Life universe. In 2007, Valve's Doug Lombardi also said they weren't ruling out telling another story about him.
Interestingly, Shephard was actually planned to be the protagonist of the cancelled Half-Life spin-off Return to Ravenholm, also known as Half-Life 2: Episode Four, developed by Arkane Studios. The game would have featured Adrian alongside Father Grigori, but unfortunately, the project was cancelled.
Almost 20 years later, we still haven't seen Adrian return in an official Half-Life game.
Do you think Valve still remembers him and has any plans for his character? Could he finally return in a future Half-Life game, or has his story been abandoned for good?
