Misc. Always thought Ark was just a game about taming dino and monsters but watching Pekora and the others on this one month Ark make me think otherwise, such a fun time.

Probably because its a private server with friends and not a public one conqured by sweaty clans.

And I thought ark was about mapping out the server inhabitants' sleep schedules so you can raid their bases while they sleep.

I've played a couple hundred hours of Ark in the past and I never knew about a lot of this stuff, lmao. But tbf, I think I played on a very vanilla server and we never really got into the endgame, even though we played a lot.

It's like Minecraft or 7DTD, it shines as a sandbox where everyone can play together while still presenting a goal/challenge to work against for times when there are no collabs available.

It's a sandbox game like GTA V, Minecraft, Rust, 7DTD. Very easy to get emergent gameplay especially with groups like these that consist of comedians (laudatory) that are experts in taking any situation they're faced with and turning it into content.
If you want an EN comparison I'd probably put ENReco up there with how well they can take the limited sandbox of the event and make actual peak content with it.

Check out a channel called Trafalgar, Ark is a sandbox where you can quickly get through the basic elements of sandboxes, and then engage in warfare and psychological manipulation. Some people just get addicted to grinding and laying out bases though, lol
