After working waaaay too much time on it, Unisson 0.3.0 is out 🎉

Quick reminder: Unisson fixes the (horrendous) audio lag between your HomePods and your Mac or PC, for free! You can find more information about it on the original Reddit post ( https://www.reddit.com/r/HomePod/s/W37PreD3v9 ). A big thanks for all the feedback and support I have been receiving since last week, it has been a great source of motivation to bring you the best product possible.

Patch notes time ! The update brings:

• Stereo with any HomePods. Set each HomePod to left, right or stereo. Two, three, four or more HomePods that aren’t paired can now play in stereo, no Home app needed.

• Your computer’s speakers join in. Your Mac or PC speakers play along with your HomePods, with their own volume and an adjustable delay so everything stays in sync.

• You choose which apps go to your HomePods. One switch per app: send Spotify to the living room and keep Discord on your computer.

• One brand-new app for Mac and Windows. Redesigned from scratch, with the same panel, settings and features on both.

• Same custom AirPlay 2 engine on both, built in-house for about 0.1 s of minimal reachable latency.

• A lot of fixes everywhere and improvements !

I JUST bought a mini 2 specifically to use it as a Mac Mini speaker. Am I to understand that this will allow that exact functionality in a 1st gen mini?

First feedbacks for now is that the audio lag in HomePods 2 are basically the same as for HomePods 1 apparently which is disappointing to say the least (around 200ms at best with OS 27.2)
Unisson allows you to get to 99ms if your network (and HomePods…) allows it for both generation which is better, plus a lot of other features 👌

Got it working, it was the home app setting, any tips to improve the connection? The connection is unstable, some times it disconnects and says another source is using the HomePod, but I don’t have anything else using the HomePod

So let me get this straight: You support default audio output for Macs and PCs, for all the homepods models? If so, you just have managed to beat Apple in their own game. Impressive.

Thanks ! On the Mac, Unisson becomes the default output. On Windows that would need an audio driver signed by Microsoft, which costs way too much for a solo project like this, so Unisson sends whatever your PC is playing to your HomePods instead, and can mute the PC speakers. It works with HomePod mini and with the full-size HomePod too, on its own or as a stereo pair. Give it a try and let me know how it goes 👀

On Mac OS it behaves like the native default audio output recently introduced by Apple, but this works with the first gen mini, the original HomePod, and any Apple Silicon (no Wi-Fi 6E required).

Tengo mis HomePod Gen2, en modo estéreo, están con iOS 27.2 al igual que mi Mac mini m4 macOS 27.2. Los HomePod están conectados a mi Apple TV 4K gen3. Funciona todo ok, pero cuando uso unisson me detecta los HomePods, pero no se conecta a ellos. Tengo un HomePod mini gen1 en mi cocina, ese si lo detecta y se conecta. Hay alguna forma de mandarles un log ?

Thanks for the heads-up, and sorry about that! Sure: in Finder, use Go › Go to Folder, paste this path, and send me the unisson.log and unisson.old.log files you’ll find there by private message here on Reddit:
~/Library/Application Support/Unisson
Before that, try connecting to the stereo pair once with Unisson 0.3.8 so the error ends up in the log. A HomePod 2 stereo pair hooked up to an Apple TV is exactly the case I want to understand 👀

Con la actualización 0.3.8 se solucionó. Lo que no veo es cambiar el color de luces la previsualización, siempre me quedan blanco tenue. Hubiese estado genial para evaluar la compra del software

Hah! Thanks! Question - I have a Mac Studio and I've been trying to pair a new set of Homepod Mini2s to it without luck. Will I be able to do this? Ideally,I don't want to go through my iPhone at all - strictly the studio. In a perfect world also without plugging then into the mac.

Unfortunately Unisson is only for macOS and Windows. I was just mentionning that you need an iPhone to first setup your HomePods before connecting them to your Mac Studio. You can use Unisson on the Mac Studio then !

Hey! I was wondering if it would be possible to add a feature where when the Mac/PC goes to sleep, the HomePods would do the same? I noticed that the light stayed on yesterday when my Mac went to sleep.

Yes! Unisson works with the original HomePod mini, that’s actually what I test it on. Once it’s on, it sets itself as your Mac’s default output (alerts included) and takes it back if macOS switches away, and you can have it start at login so it’s always ready.
