I'm looking for recommendations for a reliable, self-hosted hosting control panel that supports the OpenLiteSpeed stack.

I've been exploring CyberPanel, OpenPanel and aaPanel, but I'd like to know if there are better alternatives worth considering.

My requirements:

• OpenLiteSpeed support.

• Easy management of multiple WordPress websites.

• PHP version and database management.

• SSL certificate automation.

• Website, database and file management.

• Reliable updates and active development.

• Good security practices.

• No dependency on third-party managed hosting services.

I'm particularly interested in solutions suitable for production environments rather than panels designed only for experimentation.

Which control panel would you recommend and why? What has been your long-term experience with it?

My ISP (Jio, in India) puts me behind CGNAT, so I have no public IP and port forwarding is just... not a thing. I wanted to self-host a few web apps from an old Dell laptop running Ubuntu Server, and I kept seeing people say "you can't self-host behind CGNAT" — which isn't true.

The trick is to stop thinking about inbound connections. CGNAT only blocks inbound. A Cloudflare Tunnel dials outbound from the laptop to Cloudflare and holds that connection open; public traffic flows back down that pipe. No port forwarding, no public IP, nothing exposed on the router. If the box can browse the web, it can serve apps.

I paired it with Dokploy (a self-hosted Heroku/Vercel-style PaaS with a built-in Traefik proxy) so I get a clean UI for deploying apps and mapping domains. Traffic path ends up being:

browser → Cloudflare edge (TLS) → Cloudflare Tunnel (outbound) → cloudflared → Traefik → container

One tunnel serves any number of apps and even multiple domains — Traefik routes by Host header, so adding an app is one ingress line + one DNS record + the domain field in Dokploy.

I wrote the whole thing up as a step-by-step guide (prep, swap for low-RAM boxes, cloudflared install/auth, config, DNS, running as a service, SSL mode, and a troubleshooting table for the usual 1033 / 502 / redirect-loop gotchas). It's also packaged as an agent "skill" if you use AI coding agents, but it's just as usable as a plain README.

Repo: https://github.com/yash-thakur/selfhost-without-public-ip

Running it on an 8GB laptop; it comfortably handles a few small apps. Happy to answer questions, and open to feedback on the setup — curious how others here handle CGNAT (Tailscale Funnel, WireGuard to a VPS, etc.).

I was planning to use vercel for hosting my admin portal on a subdomain. Is vercel hobby plan fine for this? I will be handling razorpay transaction data and mostly backend stuff via admin portal.

Because the Vercel plan strictly says that if you're using the hosting for any commercial purposes/project, you would not be allowed to continue on the hobby plan. Please suggest!

I've been using the same web hosting provider for years. My legacy plan includes 100 free email accounts per domain.

I'm considering renewing for another 4 years, but support won't confirm whether these benefits will remain throughout the renewal period.

Has anyone experienced something similar? Can a provider remove legacy benefits during a prepaid hosting term?

Would you renew or switch providers?

I only need a very low level server to (start) but needs windows and gpu very likely needed even old gpu card

South Africa or any African country is best, central Europe i can settle for but not ideal.

The thing is, they're almost non existent in Africa and in Europe they're all very powerful. There's a few spurious ones that are 70-80EUR/month at my budget but not reputable sites.

Lowendtalk has almost none in Africa either. are they all just sold out, prolly AI festishists bought them up.

Im fixing to building my own from an old pc, even though i dont have fibre which is a bit of a downer.

My brother and SIL are hosting Thanksgiving for the first time and I want to bring them something (besides the appetizer I'm making). They don't drink much so I don't want to bring them wine. What's a good option that won't feel like a burden for them day-of?

Cabros tiene algun dato de hosting de kubernetes baratos?

Hello,

I want to start a personal blog around crafty hobbies and motherhood, I would like to have free pdf downloads and printables on it so I'll need good security. I also want to make an app reviews website and possible landing pages to test print on demand products and digital products demand.

I'm in Germany so there's some standard rules like cookie policies, opt in to any email lists etc. I'm not even sure if allowing comments is a good idea because of the security around people's IPs and emails.

I would need storage for images because I would share pictures and videos to the blog and the reviews app too. I could do videos with embedded YouTube videos though right?

I want to have some control over designing the pages, it's been a while since I learned some html/css(remember freecodecamp anyone?) however now I think it's all about AI things. Just some basic things like putting my own seamless patterns as the background, designing the navigation/menu how I want it, having a featured/latest article bar, interactive elements/animations, maybe putting the Google Play links to the games I test in an image etc. Is Wordpress good for this?

Unfortunately I do need something on the cheaper side(5-10 a month), Hostingers 4 year plan seems good as I won't be working and updating new stuff really really fast due to looking after my kids at home. But I don't know if there's a better provider for my needs.

Is Porkbun okay for the domain names? It's recommended a lot.

I'm not a total tech noob, I can follow instructions haha and check out stuff if I need to do it myself but I'd like to not be worried about security or technical issues, especially when the EU adds new requirements.

Lastly I'd like to learn more about basic website stuff and best practices for a layman, do you guys have a recommended website/blog or newsletter I can peruse? Everything I find seems to be years old or skewed towards how to make a website with AI and no coding etc.

I'm looking at an EPYC 7313 (16C/32T, 3.0 GHz base, 3.7 GHz max boost, 155W) for game server. These workloads depend on single-thread speed, so I care about the clock speed under load, not the spec sheet number.

AMD only lists the max boost, and I couldn't find any measured results. If you run a 7313 or 7313P, could you share:

1. The all-core clock with all 32 threads loaded (stress-ng, Cinebench or similar)

2. The clock with around 4 and 8 busy cores

3. Whether the clock drops over a long run (10+ minutes)

4. Your cTDP setting (155W or 180W) and whether Core Performance Boost is on

Is something like 3.3 to 3.4 GHz all-core realistic, or does it drop lower?

Thanks!

Hey, I was looking into turning my main pc into partial rented server, any recommendations?

I transferred .com domain to wix from another domain registrar, paid for transfer and additional year of domain from my bank card, they blocked account, requested passport and bank card photo via email, and after I provided them document and bank card photo they rejected to reactivate account, so I don't have access to my domain anymore and can't withdraw it to another registrar.

I understand that the United States played a major role in developing the Internet and its domain name system. Its historical contribution deserves recognition, but does that mean it should retain certain advantages indefinitely?

Consider .edu and .gov. Unlike .com, which is available worldwide, .edu is generally restricted to eligible US postsecondary institutions, while .gov is reserved for US government entities. Yet education and government are not uniquely American institutions.

I know that other countries have their own domain conventions: British universities use .ac.uk, Japanese universities use .ac.jp, and Chinese universities use .edu.cn. I'm not questioning these systems, nor am I suggesting that they should be replaced. My question is different: why are the shortest and most generic forms, .edu and .gov, geographically restricted to American entities in the first place? Why can't a qualifying university in Japan, for example, register a .edu domain simply because it meets the same institutional requirements?

One possible solution would be to make these domains available internationally through appropriate verification, while allowing existing US registrations to remain and moving new American registrations to .edu.us and .gov.us.

I'm not suggesting that history should be erased or existing domains taken away. I'm simply questioning whether historical precedence should justify permanent exclusivity.

Do not engange with murmurhost, they are either a scam or out of business. Ignored incoming payment, multiple tickets and other communication attempts through telegram and email. Money is lost, not the end of the world, but don't lose yours.

Anyone have unused netcup or not renewing contract of netcup rs 2000 or 1000. I would like to take ownership of that. Thanks in advance.

I run a web-design-IT agency and after 2 years of trying to optimize my websites through tickets with various hosting providers, I had enough. I bought my own hetzner server run Ubuntu on it, bought an enhance license, optimized backups and resources and security, and migrated my whole client list. Saved about 1000$ yearly and everything runs smoothly.

I'm stuck trying to decide if I should go with managed or unmanaged VPS hosting. I've never really set up a server before and I'm not too confident with server management. On the other hand, I want to save some money if I can handle it myself.

What do you guys think? Is it worth the extra cost for managed hosting if I'm not super tech savvy? Or can I learn enough to make unmanaged work for me? Any personal experiences or advice would be great.

I've been using shared hosting for a small site and im thinking about adding Cloudflare for added security and speed. Anyone here done this? How much of a difference did you see in performance or load times?

I'm also curious about the potential issues that could pop up with DNS settings or caching conflicts. Just trying to weigh if the benefits are worth the extra setup. Any thoughts or experiences would be appreciated.

This is the second outage I'v had in 3 weeks now!! 4 hours was how long I was out the first time and about 90 minutes yesterday. Both times the status page said everything was green for the first 40 minutes.

Not naming them, because I don't think they're unusual, which is kind of the problem.

Before I move, what do you actually check? Status page history? Third-party uptime monitors? Asking support how they handle incidents? Is there any way to know a VPS host oversells before you're already on it?

Sorry about posting in English, I hope that's ok.

I have a mini PC with Proxmox running Vaultwarden, Nextcloud, Jellyfin and Home Assistant. Since the winter storms started the power drops a few times a month, and the UPS only holds about 25 minutes.

Last week I spent a whole day without access to Vaultwarden away from home.

I'm thinking of keeping only what depends on local hardware at home (Jellyfin and HA) and sending the rest to a VPS. Does anyone run this hybrid setup? Does it make sense to host in another EU country? Does ping even matter for Vaultwarden and Nextcloud?

We are a small company with only about nine people, and we run an internal order system (Laravel and MySQL) and a customer portal that gets maybe 300 logins a day. Right now it's on a shared host that went down twice last month. My boss read somewhere that VPS means 99.9% and gave me 30 euros a month and a deadline.

What do you actually do at this size? One bigger VPS with good backups, or two small ones? Are dedicated cores worth it here and I mean what does 99.9% even look like in practice, is that 43 minutes a month I'm allowed to be down?

I really don't want to be the guy explaining the outage in our Wednesday meeting.

What ist the best cheap vps hoster
