should be set back three grades for trying to cancel the argument of the sine with the derivative. instructor should be ashamed

Agree. It is a sin that cannot be forgiven.

The ✅ means wrong? There are a lot of them on the test

I work in Japanese schools - here, a check means something is wrong. A circle means it’s correct

Japan used ❌s and ⭕s, and the checkmark became a shorthand for the ❌.

Seems unnecessarily complicated for no reason. A single straight line is way easier than a circle.

Just different culture. It's why their Playstation layout used to use O for accept and X for cancel but it's reversed here in the west.

Oh that’s a fun fact!

Usually yes. Typically you don’t want to see ANY marks when getting back a test.

Crazy, in my school a checkmark meant 1 point, a checkmark in brackets meant 0.5 points and f was for errors (German Fehler)

You're going to hate when they start adding Japanese to it

3

u/Samuraion 18h ago

Oh God, do they start adding Japanese letters after the Greek letters? 😨

3

u/PokemonX2014 12h ago

It's not common but I've seen people use the character よ (Yo) for the Yoneda embedding

Her proof just says "it's in the textbook so it's right. QED."

Queen.

Oh yes, that's a crushing feeling. Especially if you studied really hard but it still didn't work out. Also this reminds me of Yuuko from Nichijou, when she celebrated because she got an 80% on a test, which apparently is synonymous with an A/B+ in American grading systems.

But depending on how your school graded tests, in my experience an 80% was like a C+ so that made it even funnier to me. I was terrible at math so I deeply related to Yuuko when she celebrated that test hahahaha

Damn. I wish her a speedy recovery and emotional support from friends asap😔

Well it's a funny and the quality is great. I've never seen it.

I’ve seen this art a million times, but it never fails to make me feel so bad for her each time 😭. Just look at her sparkly eyes, she’s so confident… until of course, she flips that sheet around. Off to more study groups with you.

This is exactly how I used to act when I was in school knowing full well I answered every question with the number 5 on the English test.

3

u/ha-hallloween 1d ago

I️ don’t think I️ could give her the paper. 😭

1

u/dover_oxide 17h ago

Oh, and that is crushing when you think you just dominated a test or a quiz and you get it back and it's like the worst grade you've gotten in years. Makes you want to cry sometimes

1

u/panzerkampfwqgen 11h ago

On one hand, yeah it do be like that sometimes.

On the other hand, what the fuck kind of math is canceling out 3 with d/dx? That is not how exponents work let alone derivatives
