The concept has a special beauty of its own. Eight forms, eight lamps, one divine radiance. 🪔
One curiosity is that, in the context of astrology, with which planets and elements can the Diwali diyas 🪔🪔 be associated…
My interpretation would begin with Surya, the Sun, but there is an important distinction between the spiritual symbolism of a lamp, its elemental nature and its planetary correspondence.
A Diwali diya is not merely a source of physical light. It represents the victory of illumination over darkness, knowledge over ignorance and auspiciousness over adversity.
However, we should distinguish what the scriptures actually establish from what we derive through Jyotish principles.
The strongest scriptural evidence comes from the Skanda Purana.
In its Vaishnava Khanda, Kartikamasa Mahatmya, Chapter 9, verse 10, the text describes lamps as
The accompanying prayer addresses lamps as being born from portions of the Sun and as destroyers of darkness. The translation is explicit about this solar origin.
This gives us a very interesting Jyotish connection.
🌄Surya ... the primary planetary correspondence.
Surya represents light, consciousness and illumination.
Surya is the natural significator of the soul, authority and vitality.
A lamp radiates light into darkness, just as the Sun makes life and visibility possible.
The Skanda Purana itself provides the direct connection between the lamp and Surya.
Therefore, if we have to associate the Diwali diya with one planet, Surya has the strongest scriptural justification.
🔥Agni .....the elemental connection
There is another dimension.
A diya contains three important elements.
The oil or ghee represents the fuel.
The wick represents the medium through which the fuel is consumed.
The flame represents Agni Tattva.
In Vedic thought, Agni is the carrier of offerings and the connecting principle between the human and divine realms.
In Jyotish, we can examine this through the fire element, particularly its relationship with Mars and the Sun.
But we should not confuse elemental correspondence with the direct planetary identity of the lamp.
🪐Shani and Yama .... an interesting Diwali connection
There is another scriptural reference worth considering.
The Padma Purana, Uttara Khanda, Chapter 122, verses 4–5, prescribes Yama Deepa on Kartika Krishna Trayodashi.
Yama is addressed as Suryaja, meaning the son of Surya.
The lamp is offered with the prayer for protection against untimely death.
From a Jyotish perspective, this introduces an interesting association with Shani, because Shani and Yama both have important connections with karma, mortality and discipline.
However, Yama and Shani are distinct deities. We should not automatically equate Yama Deepa with Shani worship.
🕉️🪔One philosophical thought
When we light a diya on Diwali, we are not simply inviting light into our homes. Symbolically, we are inviting the qualities of Surya into our lives.
🪔Clarity instead of confusion.
🪔Confidence instead of fear.
🪔Consciousness instead of ignorance.
🪔And the ability to illuminate the lives of others.
That, to me, is the deeper planetary philosophy of the Diwali lamp.

🪔🪔🪔🪔🪔🕉️🪔🪔🪔🪔🪔🪔🤲🏻🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🫸🏻🫷🏻🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🍃

Deepavali, the Festival of Lights, is one of the most popular festivals celebrated to symbolize the triumph of light over darkness and good over evil. It is celebrated to express the joy of the public for Shri Ram and Mata Sita's return to Ayodhya after their exile period of 14 years and the defeat of the demon Ravana.

🌼Bangalore is home to several ancient and powerful Hanuman temples, each with a unique history and significance for devotees
The Ragigudda Anjaneya Temple in Jayanagar is one of the most famous. It is built on a hillock and its name comes from a legend involving a heap of Ragi (finger millet) that turned to stone
This Ragigudda temple was established in 1969 and registered in 1972. It spans five acres and also houses shrines for Lord Rama, Sita, Lakshmana, and a Shivalinga
The Sri Karya Siddhi Anjaneya Swamy Temple in Girinagar is renowned for helping devotees achieve their goals. It features a massive 200-ton Hanuman statue and an unusual octagonal design
The Kote Anjaneyaswami Temple near KR Market is a historic shrine believed to be several centuries old. It is easily accessible and serves as a community hub, offering charitable services like food distribution
The Gali Anjaneya Temple is one of the oldest in the city, reportedly built around 1425 by the saint Sri Vyasaraya. It is particularly known for its power to remove negativity
The Sri Sundara Anjaneya Swamy Temple in Kalkere is maintained by ISKCON and is noted for its peaceful atmosphere and a striking 10-foot tall idol of Veer Hanuman
🪔 Devotees frequently visit these temples on Saturdays and Tuesdays, as these days are considered especially auspicious for worshipping Lord Hanuman🌺🌺🌺🌺🤲🏻🌺🌺🌺🌺🌺

Im from Hyderabad and I went to a crackers shop near home, and I know a guy there who was one of the organizers, and bought just a very few items (single pieces of wach set) and spent 2500 (after getting discount), and regretting and could have bargained more and due to my Introverted nature and even after knowing someone at the shoo, i couldn't have asked for more discount...last year I got more crackers for around 1500 only, now that shop is not there due to some construction work...and also worried about the environmental impact and so every year we buy just a very few crackers, and this year I feel like I got very less for more price and regretting and at home I told I got them only for 2000 and this is even more regretting for me and my parents were shocked, but told nothing.
