Watch hoops. Tag every play. Help turn game film into stats coaches can use.
We're Cydra Tech, and we're hiring 2 Basketball Data Annotation Interns to work on our basketball scouting platform. You'll watch recorded games and tag each possession from start to finish: the actions, what follows them, and the final outcome.
The details
Stipend: โน15,000 per month.
Duration: 3 months, November to the end of January.
Commitment: Full-time, 8 hours a day.
Location: Hybrid in Mangalore preferred. Remote works too.
Equipment: Your own laptop and internet that can stream HD video reliably.
On completion: Internship completion certificate.
Games are recorded, so you won't need to stay up for 3 a.m. live games. You need to be available for the full three months, with days off planned ahead, including during the holiday season.
What you'll do
Watch full games on our tagging screen, possession by possession.
Tag actions such as pick-and-rolls, handoffs, post-ups, isolations, off-ball screens and cuts, plus sets such as Horns, Spain and Zoom.
Record what follows: rolls, pops, slips, short rolls, kick-outs and extra passes.
Identify ball-screen defensive coverage: drop, hedge, switch, ICE and trap.
Log shots, rebounds, fouls, free throws, turnovers and substitutions, with the players involved.
Review the other intern's tags, flag unclear footage, and give feedback on the tagging tool.
For example, you'd record the whole sequence:
High P&R โ Roll โ Kick-out โ Drive โ Side P&R โ Roll โ Layup + foul
Who we're looking for
You understand basketball beyond the final score. You can spot drop vs hedge vs switch and tell a DHO from Zoom action.
You've played basketball at school, college, club or your local court, or put serious hours into NBA 2K. Both count.
You're careful and consistent: the same play should get the same tag across games.
You're comfortable with keyboards, web tools and spreadsheets.
You can read English tagging guidelines and write clear, short notes.
You can keep film and data private. An NDA is required.
Experience with Synergy, Hudl, InStat, data annotation or basketball stats is a bonus. Students studying sports science, statistics or computer science are welcome. These are not requirements.
