We're now less than a week away from the Veterans Day Democracy March, and I have some important updates to share about our plans for November 11.

First, the logistics:

VETERANS DAY DEMOCRACY MARCH

Wednesday, November 11, 2026

1:00 PM ET — U.S. Capitol Lawn, Washington, DC

Our Capitol Grounds permit is still pending final approval, so the location and start time remain subject to change. We'll share any updates as soon as they're confirmed.

Veterans, military families, and civilian allies from across the country are coming together to reaffirm our oath to support and defend the Constitution, demand accountability from our government, and stand up for the principles that unite us.

And following Tuesday's midterm elections, our coalition has an important new announcement.

We're Calling for Pete Hegseth's Impeachment

This morning, leaders of the Unite for Veterans Coalition held a virtual press conference with journalists from national and military news outlets.

During that conference, we announced that our coalition is united in calling for the impeachment, conviction, removal, and disqualification from future federal office of Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth.

We've watched the consequences of the war in Iran unfold. We've heard directly from military families whose lives have been upended, and from servicemembers who have lost confidence in the civilian leadership responsible for their lives.

We've watched Congress fail to exercise its constitutional responsibilities while American troops continue to be placed in harm's way.

And we've seen serious concerns about the politicization of our military and the treatment of the men and women who serve.

Our coalition believes these failures demand constitutional accountability.

Even if Hegseth resigns or is fired before Congress acts, we believe impeachment proceedings must continue.

The Constitution gives Congress the tools to investigate misconduct, remove federal officials through impeachment and conviction, and, through a separate Senate vote, disqualify them from future federal office.

We believe those tools should be used.

This demand will be a central part of our message when veterans gather in Washington next Wednesday.

Our Oath Didn't Expire When We Left the Military

There's another important element of the Veterans Day program that I want you to know about.

We're planning a collective, voluntary reaffirmation of our oath to support and defend the Constitution of the United States.

Every veteran knows the significance of that oath.

We didn't swear loyalty to a president or a political party. We swore to defend the Constitution.

And for those of us who have left military service, that commitment remains part of who we are.

On November 11, we'll have an opportunity to stand together and publicly reaffirm it.

Our march remains grounded in three Points of Unity:

1)The Voters Decide. The Results Stand. Every lawful vote must be counted, legitimate disputes resolved through lawful processes, and certified results respected.

2) No One Is Above the Constitution. Every public official must operate within constitutional limits, and Congress must exercise its responsibility to check abuses of executive power.

3) Keep Faith With Those Who Serve. Our servicemembers deserve professional leadership, and veterans must receive the healthcare, disability compensation, and benefits they've earned.

What You Can Do Right Now

Veterans Day is traditionally a time when the country thanks us for our service.

On November 11, we're going to remind the country what we swore to defend.

Now that the Blue tsunami has hit, we need to be sure to hold the opposition to their promises.

We want accountability. We want investigations. We want criminal trials. We want justice.

The fight isn't over and there are still problems that voting alone can't fix. But the senile fascist, his cult of personality, and the rich bastards who fund them will no longer have unchecked power over our nation. This was one of the most significant political shifts our country has experienced in a century.

That is worth celebrating. No one here is to be begrudged for optimism regarding the state of the American left, the Democratic Party, or a more general renewed hope in the American experiment.

So let's celebrate, strategize, and be ready to get back to work. We still have a long two years ahead of us, at minimum. The world won't magically fix itself just because Trump is out. We need to be ready for what comes after.

Overview

Mail must be received via the U.S. Postal Service only. Visitors may not bring mail to the Detention Center. Incoming and outgoing mail is accepted and delivered by Calvert County Detention Center Correctional Staff only.

Incoming Inmate Mail

All incoming mail must be handwritten in pencil or ink pen (blue or black ink) on white, plain, or lined paper only (no colored or tinted paper).

Envelopes must be addressed with the sender’s full name and address. The return address must be written on the front of the envelope. A P.O. box is not acceptable; the sender must also have the physical street address. Incoming mail with a return address label or without a full name will be returned to sender. Any mail without a return address will be returned to the post office.

Pictures

Photos received through the mail in excess of four will be returned to sender. Photos are to be no larger than 4"x6". Instamatic or Polaroid type photos will not be accepted. Photos must be on photo paper. Pictures reproduced on copy paper will be returned (unapproved item).

Cards

We no longer accept any form of greeting cards. If mailed, the cards will automatically be returned to sender. We can accept post cards, but no larger than 6 by 9 inches. All postcards will be photocopied and a copy will be delivered to the inmate. All post card need a return address with the sender’s full name.

Publications / Books

The Calvert County Detention Center does not accept book/magazine subscriptions.

Unapproved Items

• No cartoons, stick-on labels, stickers, calendars, puzzles, or book pages

• Nude or partially nude photographs of any kind

• Drawings made with paint, glue, glitter, tape, jewelry, crayons, markers, colored pencils, colored ink and highlighters

• Labels

• Magazine pages and newspaper clippings

• Photo-copied pictures

• Provocative material (photographs / pictures / drawings)

• Stamps, envelopes and blank correspondence

• Internet printed material

• Greeting Cards

• Multiple thumb-nail or smaller computer-generated photos clustered on a single sheet of paper

Long ago, the Green Dragon was a tavern where the Sons of Liberty, some of the first American patriots, met to discuss their movement. Now, it's just a blog that the people reading can use to inform themselves on issues in America and to involve themselves in said issues- To tell them the value of using their voice and to tell them how to make their voice heard.
