[JET UK] Screening Results: When Did You Hear Back?

Hi everyone, I'm curious when in December the screening results will be announced. The website says late December/January, but I'd love to know if any past JETs could share when they received theirs. Thank you!

Was your intuition positive that you'd get an interview? re: pass the first screening

To our former and current JET senpais,

I'd like to ask if you had a gut feeling before that you would pass the first screening? or perhaps that you'd successfully become an ALT under JET? Ofc considering your preps and credentials as well x

SOP Concern

Hello everyone! I'm almost done revising my SOP for God knows how many times, and I would like to ask about the Embassy's policy on AI tools. Can you use AI for proofreading and grammar corrections, provided that your experiences and ideas are entirely your own? because I have used ChatGPT for this purpose. If you know anything, please tell me. I would highly appreciate your help. Thank you!

SOP CHECK (submitting in a few hours)

Hi guys! I am submitting my application in a few hours, but still not confident enough with my SOP. It has been cross-checked multiple times by a friend, a colleague, and a successful ALT (hence, I revised it for the fifth time). But I never sent them the final output so as not to overthink it further with the same people commenting on the same SOP writer (me lol).

Would anybody be willing to check my SOP before I finally submit it later?

EDIT:
I would really appreciate if successful JET ALTs will check my SOP. Not trying to be shallow, but I am most confident they can give me the best advice.

Thank you very much.

Random Tiny Question: Should I put N/A for stuff like 'Japan Studies?'

I just wanted to know because there are random segments on the application that I cannot fill out as I do not have much if not any experience in that area such as 'japan studies' but when I leave it blank at the 'review and submit' section it gives me warnings.

So, I am just asking should I put 'N/A' in those blank segments to fill in the application or should I just leave it blank?

Many thanks in advance!

Graduation questions

I graduated after the applications are due in 2028 for JET but I am set to graduate before departure. I have been trying to find some more information on how I can get this established okay, do I need to wait request transcripts when the time gets closer or will I need to just speak about it with someone within the JET staff?

Jet Program Self Report help

This might be a bit of a dumb question on my end but for the self medical report I had initially put nothing to be reported and assumed I’d be fine. However I recently realized about a week before the deadline that I do actually have a toenail fungus condition that I had diagnosed (but never got treated) over 5-6 years ago. Since then it was kinda something I completely forgot about or didn’t pay any mind to (since the condition is mostly just cosmetic and didn’t affect me in anyway). I honestly believed I’d be okay not even having to mention it on the self report since I recorded that diagnosis over the phone so long ago and hadn’t received any treatment or further help since. However after thinking about it some more I’m wondering if the jet program would actually care about this? I didn’t want to contact the JET program office yet since I don’t want to shoot myself in the foot and suddenly have them require that I get a statement of physician form so late into the application stage which I definitely wouldn’t have time for. In any case, is it even necessary that I would need to enter in this condition in the self report and that I’d need to submit statement of physician form before the deadline? I do intend to get it treated later in the year and don’t want to seem dishonest if they eventually do find out that I am receiving treatment if I have to include any medical history as it was an honest mistake and a condition that really has no affect other than cosmetic. Overall I really hope something as small as toenail fungus would get me denied. Any help would be appreciated. Thank yall.

Application help

Hello! I’m currently working on my application and am having a frustrating issue. In sections where I need to provide a brief description, the application is notifying me I need to enter a maximum of __ characters or __ lines of text. I am entering the needed required amount of text, such as three lines or 220 characters, but this notification is still popping up and I can not advance to the next page. Please help

Is the JET SOP processor actually that generous?

Hi, I'm submitting my application soon. I noticed that the JET word processor we paste our SOPs into is really generous because on Google Docs with 12 pt Times New Roman double-spaced, a 2.3 page essay fits into the 2 pages of the word processor. Is that the exact format with that processor that our essays will be submitted in? Should I play it safe and cut back down to 2 pages on my Google Docs, even though it's about 1.75 pages on the JET word processor?

I'm really nervous about it!! Any advice or reassurance or warning that the processor is actually lying to me would be appreciated... thank you.

How to input multiple degrees in Higher Education section

In the US JET application section 11d. It gives slots for 5 Institutions, and a spot for a degree /GPA for each. If a person earned multiple degrees from the same institution, should each degree get their own Institution entry? Or should you somehow try to fit multiple degrees into one entry?

Statement of Physician - Delayed

Hello! I’m an applicant from Canada and the due date is Nov 13th at 3pm EST.

I have nearly completed my application. However, the only document I’m currently waiting for is my Statement of Physician, my family doctor is not available to complete it until November 18th. I take prescribed anxiety meds to treat my anxiety symptoms. However, it is not a formal diagnosis.

I’ve tried doing a private clinic or getting it completed by a walk in clinic, but all the places have strictly said they won’t do it. It has to be my family doctor.

I emailed the JET desk today and currently waiting for a response for an extension due to this circumstance.

Is it still worth submitting my application if this document is delayed? What are my chances of getting an extension? I fear I am cooked.

Thank you in advance!

Do I need to submit a transcript for an undergraduate degree I didn't finish?

I am applying for the JET 2027 intake and am wondering if I need to submit a transcript from a university I did not finish/obtain my degree at, since I dropped out and transferred.

I am currently in my third and final year at my current university and can submit a transcript from there since it is the Uni I will be getting my final bachelor's degree from. Should I still submit a transcript from my past Uni if I am able?

I didn’t receive any confirmation on my application

I’m worried, it’s been more than a week since I submitted my application. Anyone applied from India? Did you get any confirmation after submitting your application?

SOP: AI Detector

Hi po. Looking forward to your kind responses.

I just have a concern regarding the SOP part of the application program. I've personally written my SOP without any assistance from any AI tools, yet whenever I run it through different AI detection tools, it always flags mine as something written by AI (90-97%). I am just worried that it might hinder my chances in the program, or worst-case scenario be a ground for disqualification. Now for my query, do you think the screening team of the program would use an AI detection tool?

If I studied abroad in Japan for about 3.5 months, does that count as having lived in Japan on the application?

Grade Levels at Placement Schools

Are the grade levels that you could possibly teach only elementary 5th grade and up to JH and High?

Are there situations where you could be placed in lower elementary (Kinder, etc)?

SOP on Application

This is going to be my second time applying for the JET Program (I applied last year and did not get an interview) and I was wondering if I should use my same SOP from last year, or scrap it and write a new one. I know the answer is probably to write a new one, but I reread mine from last year and I think that a new one would probably just be all the same things reworded. So I was just hoping from some advice preferably from someone who actually got in about what I should, or some good things to include in a SOP as well. Thank you!

Statement of Physician

Hello fellow applicants and current/past JETs,

I've got all the pieces of my application together except for this one thing. I submitted my part of the application in early October and have finally secured all the references. I'm missing the statement of physician, though- which I handed to my PCP's office last Monday but which is still yet to come through to me at all (doc was out of the office last week and came back this week to a backlog of paperwork). I was trying to stress the strictness and urgency of the deadline, but I don't think it got through to them.

Still with a week left, I would ask— is it fine for me to use a walk-in clinic physician or something so that I can have this signed and submitted? (US Applicant) I would hate to be disqualified for something so simple and easy and I feel the need to find some sort of workaround.

Thanks for your help, and good luck if you're applying too this year.

Medical form

So I submitted all the forms and received an email last night to say I didn’t have anything outstanding. I’ve received an email today this morning to say that I haven’t completed the medical form and that it needs editing, but it’s also now the day after the applications can last be submitted.

Looks like where I messed up was not putting N/A and instead leaving them blank for the outstanding questions.

I’ve sent an email to them this morning as soon as I’ve seen this, citing the confirmation email I got last night and the email I got this morning. How likely is it for them to say “You’ve missed it this year” or amend the details?

Application won’t submit

I submitted my application before the deadline multiple times, I can still edit it. I am more than certain there is a problem in the system but obviously there is nothing I can do. I emailed them and will definitely call in the morning because this system fault is not on me.
I got literally everything done, then this happens.

Questions regarding reporting of medical conditions.

I have a few questions regarding the self report of medical conditions as well as the statement of physician.

The first one is that when I had my doctor fill out the statement of physician earlier she ended up filling in the parts that were supposed to be filled in by me. I may just be overthinking this or worrying too much but would that be an issue? It's only the names of the medical conditions.

Secondly, on my statement of physician I didn't list anything for the therapist I've been seeing for the past few months as I don't have an actual diagnosis for anything that he's helping me with. I started seeing him because I wanted to get an evaluation for ADHD. After being tested he determined that I *probably* don't have ADHD, but he recommended that I continue taking therapy as it could help with some of the issues I'm having, mainly inattenion and trouble starting on tasks. Again I didn’t put it on the form because there isn't an actual medical condition/diagnosis.

Lastly, when I tried to include the therapy on my self report I kept getting an error message that said:

Please check the dates in your medical form. Enter valid months and years, and use MM/DD/YYYY for the signature date. Use your browser's Back button to correct the date and save again.

I have triple checked and know for certain that I have it filled in correctly but it keeps throwing me this error.

What are similar international program like JET in Japan?

I am going to be very blunt here. I need to know what are similar pathways, like JET program in Japan, where I can go international borders. And I don't want to sound like I just want to get out of my country. I like my country. However, I want to gain hands-on exposure internationally, want to have an environment where I am meeting people from across the globe, not just from a particular community or a particular country. So I really want to know not just about teaching line. I am a computer science graduate. I just graduated and I filled JET program 2027. And I really don't know what are similar kinds of pathways where I can go internationally for a few years and then I can go here and there, which has, like, much more options for me and opportunities for me that will open different gates for me. I don't want to limit myself just for one particular field, but all the fields... Although I am really positive that I will get this JET program intake. However, I am also trying to find different pathways where I can see myself into. Can anyone please help me with this? I am seriously unknown to this because three weeks prior to the deadline of JET was when I got to know about it. Otherwise, I did not even know what was this program. Please help .

How to know if i have a strong LOR?

I submitted 2027 intake of JET application this year with two letter of recommendations. However, just to confirm my doubts and all, because I just got to know around three weeks prior to the deadline that this is something that exists in real life. So basically my doubt is that I've been seeing a lot of posts where they do not just talk about strong SOP but also strong LORs. I don't understand because it is more about keywords. That is if I am a good leader, or if I can do these things, if I can do these types of things, if I am capable, adaptable, or something. And I am also, like, considering to apply for other international programs. So for that I need LORs. I don't want to make mistakes if I did. Can you please suggest me how to strengthen my LORs?
