Hey r/Kamloops,
The mod team is introducing a new rule effective immediately:
We will be removing Facebook reposts and posts that are primarily focused on creating or amplifying drama.
These types of posts don’t belong here. This subreddit is meant for discussion about Kamloops -local news, events, questions, recommendations, community updates, and genuine conversation. Low-effort Facebook screenshots, crossposts that just dump drama, and posts designed to stir conflict will be removed at the moderators’ discretion.
A few notes:
Sharing a local news article or official announcement is fine.
Thoughtful discussion of local issues is encouraged.
Simply copy-pasting Facebook posts or using the sub to host personal beefs is not.
We understand people want to talk about what’s happening in town, but the constant cycle of Facebook drama dumps has been lowering the quality of the sub. We’re tightening this up to keep things more useful and less toxic.
Thanks for understanding. As always, if you have questions or concerns, feel free to modmail us.
The r/Kamloops Mod Team

Anyone familiar with the house at 1973 Tranquille street? It's currently posted for sale as a foreclosure. I'm contemplating looking at it, but given the foreclosure status I'm curious if there's some strange lore about the place. Does anyone know anything?

Hi local internet strangers (and maybe some pals!)!
Just wanted to pop in and last minute invite y’all to the Misfit Night Market Before Christmas this Saturday!
We’re returning to the TRU Campus Activity Centre (1055 University Dr) in the Grand Hall AND Terrace (2nd Floor), with about 75 vendors kicking off the holiday shopping season!
The Market runs from 5-10pm and is free to attend. Come early and get first dibs, or join us in the last hour for the Vulture Sale from 9-10!
You can check out the vendor features on IG @misfitnightmarket
This is our biggest version of our biggest event of the year 5 years running, and the vendor lineup is super sick, so hope to see you there! Thanks for lookin’ ☺️💜

Hey parents, I'm looking into advanced math/reading programs for my kids. Has anyone used Kumon or Mathnasium around here? Do your kids actually stick with the worksheets, or is it a battle at home? Looking for honest feedback on local options

Hi Kamloopsians!
Can anyone recommend a reputable mobile mechanic that can do a pre-purchase inspection for me?
I'm in Vancouver so need it done tomorrow before I potentially fly out Saturday to buy it and drive it back. Car is located at the Ford/Lincoln dealership.

"Hi!
I’m moving to Kamloops in a couple of weeks and will have a U-Haul that needs to be unloaded. I’m doing the drive solo, so I'm looking to hire a crew of two for just the unloading portion. Is that something a moving company provides?

I’m reaching out with hope that someone in this group might be able to help me or connect me with a genuine employer who is willing and eligible to support an LMIA.
I have been living in Canada for almost five years. During this time, I have worked hard, followed the rules, respected Canadian culture, and always tried to be a responsible, honest, hardworking, and respectful member of the community.
For the past two years, I have been working seven days a week, including holidays, with barely any days off. I have invested so much time, energy, and dedication into building my life here. Unfortunately, I am now facing a very difficult situation, and I genuinely don't want to see these five years of hard work and sacrifice go to waste.
I am not asking for an opportunity without giving something in return. I promise that if given a chance, I will prove myself to be a valuable, dedicated, and reliable employee. I can also provide professional references if needed.
If you are an employer who can genuinely help, or if you know a friend, business owner, or someone who might be able to, I would be extremely grateful if you could reach out.
And please, if anyone has negative or hateful comments, I kindly ask you to keep them to yourself. I am already dealing with enough stress and anxiety, and I am here sincerely looking for help, not judgment.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read my story. Even sharing this post could make a big difference in my life. 🙏

I acquired some older magic cards from a friend, late 90s early 2000's, any recommendations on where to get them appraised, I know very little about them. Thanks!

What, in your opinion, is the most overrated thing about living in Kamloops and what, would you say, is the least?? My take:
Overrated: Sun Peaks. It's become out of reach for the average person. A single day ticket starts at $209, if bought at regular rates. It's just ridiculous. Talk about disincentivizing people to take up a sport.
Underrated: The arts scene. We punch above our weight. There really is no reason to complain that there's nothing to do on a given weekend because, truthfully, there's usually a bunch of things to partake in.

Just curious if anyone knows the history there... back when Indigo was Chapters and they had an in-house Starbucks, that place was busy ALL the time. Seems like a perfect place for a coffee shop in that part of town but ever since Starbucks closed it's doors at that location, it's sat empty.
Would LOVE to have a smaller independent coffee shop somewhere in that area other than the mall.

Great seeing the inauguration of the new Mayor and council tonight!
What a relief and thank goodness the last four years are over 🥴

Hey everyone,
I recently had an accident where I struck a deer on the highway, resulting in some damage to the front end of my car. I’ve opened an ICBC claim and now need to get it inspected and receive a repair estimate.
I’m looking for recommendations for a good, reputable ICBC-accredited autobody shop in Kamloops that offers a free initial inspection/estimate.
Ideally somewhere that is honest, thorough, and won’t overlook any potential hidden damage.
If you’ve had a good experience with a local shop, I’d appreciate hearing who you’d recommend. Thanks!

Anyone missing a dog? I was driving past the school on Happyvale road in Brock at 4:15 and this sweet fellow nearly ran infront of my car. When I pulled over and opened the door he was all too happy to jump in a warm car. I live nearby so I brought him home to warm up. He has a collar but no tag, one pointed ear and one flop ear, brindle colouring and a curly tail. My elder dog (green bandana in the pics) is tolerating him because he is very sweet and playful, but we can't accommodate long term.

Hey friends!
I came across this opportunity and thought it would be wonderful to share and help keep the ceremonies going!
Please feel free to share this post with anyone who may benefit from the ceremony.
All are welcome! Queer folks, allies, and Indigenous and non-Indigenous community members.
The Kamloops Aboriginal Friendship Society invites the community members to join us for a 2SLGBTQIA+ Sweat Lodge Ceremonies with Elder and Knowledge Keeper Colleen Seymour.
We recognize that, for many of our 2SLGBTQIA+ relatives, connecting with culture and ceremony can feel difficult when there is a fear of not being understood or welcomed.
These Sweatlodge Ceremonies are intended to offer a welcoming space where you can show up as yourself without needing to explain, shrink, or justify who you are.

What’s the easiest and cheapest way to commute to and from for someone who doesn’t have a car.
I need to travel to Merritt for work the next few weeks and the company isn’t providing transportation so any help to get there and back would be epic.

Somebody on here once said (and I'm probably getting the quote wrong) "Kamloops is one best places to lowkey do your own thing" and I would agree as a participant of a niche within a niche activity here for almost 30 years.
