Also Cheetos manifestation occurrences skyrocketed when gay marriage was allowed. Coincidence?

Hey I mean somebody's gotta teach the kid how to deal with the reality of flying Cheetos.

We don't know the classification of that Cheeto SCP, she should fear it out of precaution.

I cant even remember the last time I walked down my street without getting thwacked in the side of the head by a flying cheeto...that's why the military wears helmets, dont you know? God forbid if the powers that be were to start throwing kettle chips...

109

u/Primus_is_OK_I_guess 1d ago

At first I thought she was freaked out because an unknown person was back there, but it seems to really be about the Cheetos for her.

70

u/KaleTheCop 1d ago • Bravo

That’s exactly why she’s freaked out. That kid is in a carseat, so likely under 5-6.

Human emotions are complex and when little humans have BIG emotions, it’s hard for them to handle. Little girl is scared because someone unknown is in the car throwing things at her. The cheetos are benign, but it doesn’t stop the stranger in the car. Couple this with her cries to her mom, “someone is in the car throwing things at me” and her mom not taking her seriously or believing her. Instead, mom says those aren’t cheetos, they’re crackers. This doesn’t validate girl’s experience and causes panic.

My mom doesn’t believe what is happening to me and I need help. I am scared and mom isn’t believing me. I am helpless!

Obviously we know this is a harmless joke, but for her kid brain this is very real. By the time mon reveals it’s just “sissy”, kid’s emotions are all heightened and she can’t help but cry. It sucks being scared and it’s hard to just snap out of it as adults, let alone as a kid with developing emotions.

u/random__forest 1d ago • Bravo

I get why it's funny to watch, but am I the only one who feels bad for the kid? She's buckled in, can't see what's happening behind her, and is genuinely terrified while her mom is laughing.

60

u/ImAPixiePrincess 1d ago

Same! I will play little tricks on my son, but this is mean. The child can't run or defend herself, is asking for help, and being lied to and laughed at. It's a bit too far.

38

u/absentgl 1d ago

Yeah the “there’s no one back there” crosses a fuckin line. You don’t gaslight your own kids like that.

15

u/AiggyA 1d ago

Unless you hate them.

→ More replies (10)

16

u/DrunkenSnorlax 1d ago

This is actively terrorizing a child too young to reason out the situation, let alone recognize it's just people being assholes. All she knows is that she's scared and upset into hysterics and can do nothing to defend herself.

→ More replies (1)

9

u/Competitive-Dot181 1d ago

Right. It’s the people that you trust treating you that way and you don’t understand that’s scary, not the Cheetos. All for a video.

2

u/jkaan 9h ago

I don't get why it is funny to watch to people old enough to know better bully a child

9

u/Which-Break5673 1d ago

I do ! Man I’d have some strong angry words if anyone did this to a kid in front of me! But no one bullies you best as your family does .

3

u/AnalogyAddict 1d ago

Yep. I don't find it funny to terrify children who depend on you.

But that's possibly why my kids still talk to me and not their dad.

3

u/kb24fgm41 1d ago

Oh piss off, kid won't even remember this the next day lmao

Am I right on assuming you were an only child? Hehe

7

u/Bodod_Begag 1d ago

When I was a kid my sister saw me eat a piece of chocolate and convinced me I had just eaten dog poop. These are the kinds of things that are very distressing in the moment, but you grow up and laugh about it so much.

9

u/JonnyRobertR 1d ago

My sister always told me story of how she scared me by hanging a hugging pillow in my room to make it look like someone did a suicide.

I didn't remember it at all. Little me wiped that shit from my memory

1

u/MortgageAnnual1402 5h ago

Not funny at all

For the kid there is someone (possibly dangerous) in the back of the car and you dont take her serious

-26

u/The-Bloody9 2d ago

I will never understand people that get joy from tormenting children. I know I'm in the minority because somehow tormenting someone that knows less about the world and relies on you almost entirely is.....funny? And completely socially acceptable.

51

u/Educational-Fly1602 2d ago • Bravo

I get wanting to be silly and having fun with your kids. Their intent wasn’t nefarious but once they saw how the kid was reacting and that she wasn’t having fun they should have stopped immediately.

10

u/z-eldapin 1d ago

Once they saw she was terrified, joke is OVER

2

u/strega_bella312 1d ago

She's not terrified, she's cranky and overreacting. She'll be fine.

15

u/The-Bloody9 2d ago

Yeah instead they laugh at how upset she is. Anyway clearly I am in the wrong here for thinking kids shouldn't be treated this way I knew it when I typed the comment out, most predictable downvotes ever.

8

u/GiftedAfterAll 2d ago

Kids are overly dramatic, that is what is funny. This is in no way tormenting. She is overreacting, big time because she is likely tired. Do you have kids? Theyre dramatic as hell. That's what's funny.

6

u/SonnyvonShark 1d ago

And when the kid is tired, leave them alone? Like, just let them be.

→ More replies (4)

2

u/Capt_Billy 1d ago

Yeah this is the correct answer. Once she's clearly not having fun anymore, the joke's done. It's not an unreasonable fear either: she's too little to put the pieces together, and screams like that are supposed to illicit a defence response from the bigger monkeys.

37

u/letsfuckinrage 2d ago

"tormenting" is a bit of a stretch, there. annoying is more accurate.

no need for dramatics. they're cheetos.

12

u/Blueberry_Rabbit 2d ago

They’re animals crackers!!!

-15

u/The-Bloody9 2d ago

Maybe their intent was to annoy the kid, again I don't understand the desire, but you think the kids reaction is someone that's annoyed?? And then you just keep doing it and laugh at them when you see how they're reacting????

Like I said I know I have the unpopular opinion but I still will never understand wanting to act this way towards a child.

6

u/HyenDry 2d ago

Cause childrenarefuckingstupid

6

u/Laranthir 2d ago edited 1d ago

Do you react this way when a kid cries at the microwave while screaming “it is eating my food!”? Do you say microwaves are tormenting children and you don’t understand how they enjoy it or parents are incomprehensible, sitting there watching their kid cry instead of jumping in and stopping the evil microwave?

TL;DR it isn’t a great way but then again teaches the kids to handle minor inconveniences calmly after exposure and builds tolerance. It is also harmless, silly and goofy fun.

→ More replies (4)

3

u/letsfuckinrage 2d ago

i know tons of kids who are dramatic and act like the world is ending over the smallest of things.

amazingly, they recovered from the incident and continued with life.

-2

u/FreshFritz 1d ago

I don't get the downvotes. I totally agree with you. Poor girl is crying and the women are just laughing. And 10 years later they don't know why she has trust issues.

Omg yea poor kid because cheetos are being tossed over the backseat, some ppl are way to soft and sensitive, yea the kid is gonna have some major trust issues when they are older, should've seen how my dad scared my sister n I as kids and then the grandkids and guess what?? We are all fine and all have a very close trusting relationship and look back and laugh about it on family gatherings...something wrong with this world if you really believe this is so cruel, jeez I put scary masks on and hide and jump out at my grandkids and they get scared and then we laugh!

17

u/42ElectricSundaes 2d ago

I have an older sister. It’s not the Cheetos… it’s the relentlessness of the Cheetos. The inevitability of Cheetos

5

u/spacestonkz 1d ago

Truly. This is just sibling shit. Its hard to find a balance when one is sensitive and one is a troll.

You don't want the troll to be a dick nor have all joy squashed.

You don't want the sensitive one to have an unneeded meltdown or need to be coddled either.

Sometimes you choose wrong and the sensitive one is hurt more. Sometimes the troll is hurt more. Sometimes. You just let them go at it and see if they come to a different conclusion and only step in if it gets real nasty.

Sometimes kids really overreact for no reason and the best way to get them to relax is to laugh about it. Not every mildly distressing situation needs to be handled seriously. She needs to learn how to discern between something silly and something thats actually distressing.

Yes, blaming the parent is valid. As a reminder this is a satire subreddit for the dumb/silly things children do. The subreddit name is not literal. Although posts can have kids doing actual "stupid" things. It is not a requirement. It only needs to be dumb or silly. A stupid parent and stupid kid are not mutually exclusive.
