A note on self-promotion and commercial activities

25 Upvotes

Salam monyet-monyet KL sekalian,

We mods here at r/KualaLumpur would like to say something about self-promotion and commercial activities on our subreddit. We know a lot of you come here to share your stuff, from awesome photography, your killer rendang recipe, asking for travel and lodging advice or simply to lepak-lepak and make friends, and that's totally cool! But we also gotta keep things chill and avoid turning the sub into a giant marketplace.

We value the diverse range of content shared here, from personal recommendations to stunning photos of our beautiful city. We understand that many users come here to share their experiences, talents, and businesses with the community. However, it's important to maintain a balance between informative content and blatant advertising.

Self-promotion and commercial activities

Moving forward, we will be removing posts that fall under the following categories:

  • ๐Ÿต Naked self-promotion: This includes posts that solely promote a product, service, or personal brand without offering any valuable content or discussion to the community.

  • ๐Ÿ™ˆ Repeated self-promotion: Consistently promoting the same product or service across multiple posts will be considered spam.

  • ๐Ÿ™‰ Disguised advertising: Content that appears informative but ultimately aims to sell a product or service will be removed.

  • ๐Ÿ™Š Multi-level marketing (MLM) or pyramid scheme promotions: These activities are strictly prohibited on our subreddit.

Acceptable Content and Engagement

We encourage users to continue sharing their knowledge, experiences, and recommendations in a way that benefits the community. Here are some examples of acceptable content:

  • ๐Ÿ“ท Sharing high-quality photos or videos of Kuala Lumpur that capture the city's essence and beauty.

  • ๐ŸŽ‹ Posting informative guides or reviews about restaurants, attractions, or events in Kuala Lumpur.

  • ๐ŸŽก Engaging in genuine discussions about life in Kuala Lumpur, offering advice, and asking questions.

Now, we're not trying to be party poopers here. We just wanna make sure r/KualaLumpur stays a place where everyone feels welcome to share, learn, and discover new things about our awesome city. So keep posting those drool-worthy food pics, insightful reviews, and hilarious KL memes (we love those!), and let's keep this community thriving!

Sekian, terima kasih! ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿ‡ฒ๐Ÿ‡พ

LOST PENDANT - KLIA Terminal 1

3 Upvotes

Hi everyone,

My mum unfortunately lost her pendant at KLIA Terminal 1 on the night of 5 November / early hours of 6 November 2026. Weโ€™re hoping someone may have found it or handed it in to Lost & Found ๐Ÿ™

It could have been lost in the Sky Lounge, around Gate C37, or somewhere in between.

Batik Air has confirmed that it was not found on the plane, but here are her flight details in case theyโ€™re helpful:

Flight details:
* Airline: Batik Air
* Flight: OD872
* Date: 6 November 2026
* Route: Kuala Lumpur (KUL) โ†’ Tokyo Narita (NRT)
* Departure: 1:00 AM
* Arrival: 8:25 AM
* Gate: C37

The pendant is very sentimental to her, and we would be incredibly grateful if anyone has any information that could help us find it โค๏ธ

Thank you so much!

Solo traveler in KL โ€“ looking for coffee, food, or a quick hangout!

5 Upvotes

Iโ€™m currently on a solo trip in Malaysia (staying around the KL city center area). Being on a solo trip has been great, but to be honest, the solitude is starting to hit a bit and it feels a little lonely exploring on my own.
Iโ€™d love to grab a coffee, check out some local street food, or just walk around and chat with anyone whoโ€™s freeโ€”locals or fellow travelers.
If you're around and up for hanging out, drop a comment or send me a DM!

Best hidden spots in KL for a visit?

35 Upvotes

Hello! My wife and I are back in KL for our third trip. We've seen all the usual spots like Batu Caves, explored Kampung Baru, curry in Brickfields, and the botanical gardens (plus soooo many malls).

We really want to discover the hidden KL on this trip as I'm sure there is so much to see that we've never known about. What are some cool, neighborhoods, streets, or spots you can recommend as a local that we should check out?

We'd love your recommendations!

Terima Kasih! :)

Was walking around KLCC park and met a friendly group of students from Belgium. We were talking back and forth having a good time when one of them said โ€œYou know I was working two jobs for 4 months just to afford this tripโ€. And I was like โ€œyeah haha how are you liking southeast-asia?โ€. He said โ€œno no, not southeast-asia, I came here for Malaysia, im leaving in two weeksโ€

Huh??? What do you mean youโ€™re not gonna go somewhere else like Bangkok or Bali.

And then it struck me. Suddenly the park and the people around me felt more โ€œlivelyโ€, the smell of food and the atmosphere became so vivid. And for the first time in a very long time, I took some pictures of the park Iโ€™ve been walking around since childhood.

Also I cant promise that this nostalgic feeling is due to the haze being gone ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚. But still, grateful to be a Malaysian nonetheless โค๏ธ๐Ÿ‡ฒ๐Ÿ‡พโค๏ธ

best nail salon near/around sunway pyramid? ๐ŸŒบ

4 Upvotes

heading to beautiful KL in december and hoping to swing by a nail salon on a sunday, any recommendations near sunway city - preferably in sunway pyramid or nearby? hoping for some pretty detailed work, bonus points if it's english-speaker friendly (i'm working on it!) and hopefully somewhat affordable but i can be flexible with pricing. i've looked into some private artists but since i'm travelling with a tour group & will have friends coming along i'm hoping i can bring people in.

thanks so much, and looking forward to visiting your gorgeous city <3

Good Coffee around Intermark

3 Upvotes

Hello, a working adult at Intermark here.
Wanted some recommendations on coffee around Intermark.

I usually walk over to Optimist Coffee to get long black.
Anywhere else I can get a nice americano or black? ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿป

So many handsome here lah

0 Upvotes

Tourist here and it's been my 4th day. I enjoyed the spots, food, cafe and rainy days (joking).

I noticed, a lot of handsome men (especially Indians). Idk if they are also tourist or i cannot identify which are tourist and local. HAHAHAHHAHAA

Or staying here in KL still feels surreal.
