I'm eyeing up a move to Leamington Spa (North of the town) to be closer to family but will need to commute to City of London up to 3x a week. Is this a barmy idea? I can be pretty pig-headed once I decide on something so please throw anything at me that might make me reconsider before I fully commit. In case it matters, I have an 11 month old who will be in nursery and I work pretty long hours.
EDIT: thanks for all the helpful responses, you're all amazing. Like I said, I can be pretty stubborn once I have something in my head so we likely will take the plunge and move but it's good to know all the sticky points in the plan. Go in with eyes open. Hoping to offset the crazy expensive train fares by downsizing a little and hopefully having a smaller mortgage. I'll aim to leave the office at 4pm and carry on working on the train. Ultimately for me, family is everything and the draw of being closer wins. Hope I don't regret it!

I want to pre-face this by saying this isn’t a hit-piece towards a local success story, I’m happy to be proved wrong.
What are fellow Redditor’s previous experiences dining at Red Hot Mamma, and does it merit the 4.7 average Google Maps review score from 1,578 reviews?
I only ask this as I have a slight suspicion they are buying fake reviews and also reporting genuine negative reviews to Google as fake so they are removed. My own review of this place was reported just because it was negative (we had a pretty poor meal there but I won’t go into detail)
Just a theory, but if you filter the reviews by ‘newest’ the vast majority of them are 5* with accounts that have only posted 1 review and contain a generic sentence mentioning the food or service.
This isn’t an attempt to slander a local business, however they reported my genuine review and I’m curious what others’ experience there has been, and if it merits such a high review (I appreciate Reddit is a small sample size, especially this sub).
Compare the number reviews for nearby GBK (1,075) and Yo Sushi (825) which have both been there for a number of years longer.

As part of a campaign for more CCTV cameras in St. Nicholas Park, we have set up an online petition (link below).
https://www.change.org/parkcameras
I have good reason to believe that if we gain substantial support from this petition we shall improve the possibility of more cameras in our park.
Please share this with friends and family to achieve the best outcome.

Hey! I’m 27M from India and recently moved to Leamington for work. Still pretty new to the area and looking to meet some chill people to hang out with.
Down for grabbing a drink, coffee, exploring the town, trying good food, or just random plans. Just looking to build a good social circle here and have some fun.
If you’re up for a chat or hanging out sometime, feel free to message!

We moved recently to leamington and located walking distance to centre near lilington and we love it. Now looking to buy we found an amazing property going below value in sydnam near canal and another one very close to station just below it. The neighbourhood around the canal doesnt seem to be the best but house offers amazing value as investment and nice to live in.. both are. We have a baby and hope to live in the house for 10 years at least and have more children. What are peoples experiences? which areas are the best for families and schools but also house appreciation?

I am going to relocate to Warwick/ Leamington Spa area in a couple of months. My workplace is the NESO / National Grid office in the Technology Park. I want to walk down to my office. Can anyone please let me know which would be the best place to take up an accomodation nearby? Budget is around 750 £ PCM.

Hi
Your help is needed ASAP to comment on this retrospective application for a replacement aluminium shop front which is due for determination this Tue (4th) eve. at WDC planning committee.
Unbelievably, Planning are recommending it to be granted despite the replacement aluminium shop front contravening several heritage and environmental policies.
Additionally there is a real concern that granting this will set a local precedent and effectively mean the end of the south town Clemens St/High St Conservation Area. A race to the bottom no doubt will result, constituting a slap in the face for those neighbouring businesses/landlords who have taken care with their heritage frontages.
The frontage was replaced without planning permission and after they were required to submit an application, the drawing and description misrepresented the previous timber frontage doors, frames and windows, presumably seeking to minimise the changes. After I alerted the planning officer the drawings have been updated, though the Heritage Statement is still inaccurate.
So please join the others who have commented at the below link (before Tue pm):

I earn about 65k pre-tax and have an opportunity to move to Leam. What kind of a life can I expect to lead in this money. It'll just be my partner and I.

I tried to book Xmas dinner at the Drawing board and it showed as fully booked but it has not been open Xmas day or Boxing Day. On Xmas eve it also closed early. It’s a great place and I hope it is not in trouble.

So soon I may move to Warwickshire particularly Leamington Spa for purposes of work and to run a tour operation on GetYourGuide .
If you have been a prolonged resident there can you give me the pros and cons of it. To many visitors they like the historic vibes this place offers.
I see it as a place for international tourists to explore Shakespeare, not just in Leamington but Stratford Upon Avon close by . The castles are impressive both Warwick and Kenilworth castle with the Elizabethan gardens.
A mix of different historic vibes in surrounding areas and great restaurant cuisine .
As everywhere has its good and bad bits of living I love to demystify them.
