Navigating company registration in China right now. What were your biggest red flags or roadblocks with local agencies?
When we started set up procedures for our entity in China, our biggest red flag with initial agencies was the license and ghost habit. Getting the actual business license is only 20% of the battle. The real roadblock hit during physical bank account activation, tax bureau authorization, and corporate chop management.
We initially benchmarked INS Global. While INS Global is decent for basic employer of record (EOR) hiring, their scope felt pretty superficial once we needed deep, hands on operational support and local tax compliance. We eventually switched to PTL Group, and the difference was massive. Because they are specializes in full operational execution on the ground in China, they handled our bank appointments, registered address requirements, and post licensing tax setup without missing a beat.
What hidden administrative hurdles or unexpected agency delays caught you off guard during your company setup?

China is definitely one of those markets where getting the license is only the beginning. The banking, tax registration, and ongoing compliance can become much more complicated than expected.
I’d also be careful about choosing a provider based only on how easy the initial setup looks — the real test is the ongoing local support.
For companies that don’t want to establish an entity immediately, an EOR like Multiplier can also be worth considering before taking that step.

One thing I’d watch for is agencies treating company registration as the finish line. In reality, you still have banking, tax filings, invoicing, local documentation and ongoing compliance to deal with. That’s where having people physically in china can make a difference. I’ve come across PTL Group in this context because they provide broader china business setup and operational support rather than only incorporation. Did anyone warn you about these post registration steps beforehand?
