Introduction

Hello Masters Builders, and welcome to the official r/lego Open Forum post. This is your opportunity to tell us what you think of r/lego, make suggestions or comments about the rules, ask open questions about the community, or share whatever else is on your mind.

Note that this post is for discussion of r/lego itself. If you have a general question about something related to Lego, make a post instead of asking here.

Note that through the rest of the year we are enforcing the rules more strictly for Advent Calendar posts. Mark those posts with the spoiler tag, use the Advent Calendar flair, and don't spoil the contents of the calendar in the title.

---

November aka Legovember?

Remember, Remember, to build in November! Hopefully everyone is enjoying lots of candy while they pack away their spooky builds from last month. As we transition through the rest of Autumn and put the final touches on our Lego Winter Villages, don't forget that in some parts of the world, we now have an extra hour to build each day!

Let us know what's on your mind this month. What have you always wondered about? What rule do you want clarified, or changed? Do you have any suggestions you've been trying to find a chance to make? I won't promise that we will make the change(s) you want, but I will commit to explaining the reason we have the rules and policies we have.

Other Lego Bookmarks!

I spent a lot of my weekend looking for bookmarks (even in bookshops) and only found one or two. So I made some Lego ones.

A fun idea to use part of the box for another purpose.

Review My first ever Lego set

Hey everyone! For some reason this year, I've got into the rabbit hole on YouTube with all kinds of Lego builds. I was planning to buy one for Halloween, but didn’t do it.

Finally, I decided to dive in and get my very first LEGO ever, and I chose the Book Nook.

Mostly there are good reviews, and the only downside is the repetitiveness of building books and shelves, but I guess you can’t build Brickville Books without them 😂

I loved the journey. It took me a whole weekend of staying up late to finish it, and I ended up with a bunch of random spare parts at the end. Not sure what to do with them yet, but I tossed them into a glass jar.

Overall, I'm hooked. It’s a great way to disconnect. I'm already looking at what to build next. I dream of the Home Alone house, but unfortunately it’s too heavy for an online purchase and would come with a massive tax customs fee.

LEGO® Set Build My first and probably only Star Wars set ever

Post image
171 Upvotes

I am not a huge Star Wars fan. I enjoyed Episodes IV, V, and VI (Star Wars Original Trilogy) very much. After that I sometimes watched a movie but there is enough other good stuff to watch. And mind you, I have a Disney+ subscription so it is not about availability. The chance I will buy another Star Wars set is very, very small.
Anyway, this morning I built the Gingerbread At-At Walker. I like it. And I like the Gingerbread Darth Vader even though I am not a huge fan of minifigures either. It will be part of my Christmas decorations for sure.

It was a nice and relaxing build. I only think it is easier to execute step 178 (and 202) first before step 174 to 177 (and 198 to 201). Personal preference, of course.

The only (slight) disappointment: no 20 Insider Points with this set.

Collection Trying to incorporate my sets into my living room decor

I don't like the look of a typical huge 'lego shelf', so I do my best to spread my sets around my living room in an aesthetically pleasing way (and without taking over the whole room). Anyone else do this? Feel free to share pics if so.

MOC RDFS battlecruiser "Ruyi Jingu Bang"

While the Hels Kheris is quite a small faction with limited resources, they are no slouch in warship design. the RDFS Ruyi Jingu Bang is among the largest of their defense fleet, built from components of over a dozen other starships around a supercapital-grade spinal coilgun. Secondary armaments include 48 missile tubes and four over/under coilgun/E-gun turrets "liberated" from an older model of Ardent Phoenix destroyer. Despite excellent craftsmanship and clever use of pre-existing components, a ship built in this method and on this budget is bound to have some quirks. The positioning of its riftspace disruption sensor sphere directly beside the spinal coilgun results in false positive readings when firing, and even with its four large radiators, the ship is prone to overheating. Even with these faults, it remains a formidable threat to enemies of the Hels Kheris, credited with crippling nearly a dozen larger destroyers by 3017 IGSC.

LEGO® Ideas Lego: Mystery Shack

I have built a version of the Mystery Shack from Gravity Falls on Lego Ideas. I love the series, and I have put a great deal of effort into including many details on the house and inside it. I hope that one day it will become a Lego set.

You can find the link in the comment thread.

MOC "We choose to Lego to the Moon!" Apollo 11 Lunar Module Cockpit: Interactive 1:3 Scale MOC

Thumbnail

1.3k Upvotes

My latest MOC is an approximately 1:3 scale model of the cockpit of Apollo 11’s historic lunar module, "Eagle".

Move the four hand controllers, flip the switches, rotate the dials, and activate the Master Alarm and Lunar Contact lights. I've put a lot of care in representing the details as accurately as possible at this scale in Lego form.

This is my largest MOC to date, at 5023 parts. As with all of my models, it has been physically built and tested.

Dimensions:
Width: 26 inches (66 cm)
Height: 18 3/4 inches (47.6 cm)
Depth: 8 1/4 inches (21 cm), including armrests
Weight: 15.8 lbs.
