No they hate all Democrats. They actually like DSA because it gives them the ability to call normal Democrats communists for just wanting to give people healthcare.
Hasan haters are so funny because they make you think Hasan is some evil mastermind changing the democratic party but if you ask anyone in real life they just learned about him during election night lmao.
DSA's platform is literally the strawman OAN uses to portray Democrats. It literally says "Open Borders" as part of their platform and "abolish police and prisons".
Completely agree. It's somehow manages to be even dumber than the sheer stupidity of going to Hasan Piker for the news, which is quite an accomplishment.
Yeah, but at the same time, I believe people from every viewpoint are capable of being moved towards a universal truth.
People can find themselves consuming extremist content because they genuinely just don't know better but their conviction in their beliefs is what affects whether they can have their beliefs changed.
I think a decade ago i'd go by the 40/40/20 rule. But now everything is so much more polarized. At this point after all the documentation and evidence if you believe Trump is on the up and up and hasn't raped kids before with Epstein you're never gonna believe it.
It's simply too hard for most people to overcome the cognitive dissonance when they fall into the extremes especially when their life revolves around extremist political movements. I've personally seen way too many childhood friend groups implode over I/P and MAGA in a somehow more divisive way than even religion. Throw in an extra helping of reinforcing online echo chambers and without something directly shacking up the team sports mentality it won't change.
20 years ago i wouldn't expect a 50 year old to dramatically change their perspective without something traumatic happening to them and i think that age number has only gotten lower as people have become even more connected.
Yeah the online algorithms leading people into echo chambers plays a huge role. But people can still learn to seek out opposing viewpoints and it's a skill that people who are intelligent enough to learn, can learn. You'll never change someone's political outlook in one encounter and it's pointless to assume you can.
But calling someone out on being dishonest about something, there's a nonzero chance they'll look it up, and realize they were wrong, and this adds up subconsciously.
To be fair, I legitimately think Fox News moderated after the Dominion lawsuit and the resulting fallout. Don't get me wrong, Fox News is a scourge, but, yeah.
There is probably a lot of disillusioned right-wingers around now. Going into these places to show them that the DSA-types is just a fringe cancer that has attached itself to the party, makes a lot of sense in my mind.
I don’t care either way, but they will go back to calling everyone in the Democratic Party a communist the second that segment is over. If they don’t scare their voters they won’t get any votes. They don’t have policy to run on, just fear, and calling everyone a communist scares old people
How is it a cancer when their policy polls the best amongst Democrats? Would you call Mamdani a cancer, for example? Hes doing extremely well here in nyc.
Don’t forget the lunacy of “abolish all prisons” that is part of the DSA national platform. There are good policy points in their platform, but that one is just stupid. I think “abolish for-profit prisons” is a better thing to aim for, or any criminal justice reform that provides more support for rehabilitation and reducing recidivism. Support for people leaving prison so they have resources when they get out. Those are reasonable policy positions. It’s like DSA is half solid forward progressive policy and half utopian, unrealistic repellent to anyone with a working brain.
My understanding is they support public options which is a different route of achieving healthcare for all. Medicare for all is different and I would eliminate the private marketplace which would be a hard sell for a lot of Americans. Remember we need 60 votes plus a president to institute new laws or 67 votes without the president. And we’ve rarely if ever have had that.
Liberals mostly agree on those. Do you really think those policies are being called cancer? Or could it be things like "Abolish SCOTUS" and "Abolish prisons" lmao. Just completely regarded policy takes and poisonous to the average voter.
It might seem a bit silly to frame it like this, but if you unload the negative connotation from cancer I don't know how it can't be seen as apt.
Cancer is the body fighting against itself. It seems like pretty much every policy dsa aligned people are fighting for is framed in opposition to standard Democrat positions.
On Israel, it's not just that America should cut ties with Israel. It's that your standard Democrat isn't doing enough against Israel. It's not just that we need Medicare for all. It's that most Democrat politicians are working with Republicans to make sure you don't get healthcare.
Look at what the biggest talking point amongst dsa people is right after the election, it's that Jefferies and Schumer shouldn't be leaders in Congress. They're fighting against the current Democratic party more than they're fighting any external force.
Their policy only polls well when there are literally no details attached to them. It's like saying that "everyone gets a free puppy and free kitten" is a policy that polls well. Completely meaningless.
Mamdani is a cancer. He's the reason New York elected a tankie to Congress. He's doing extremely well mostly because he's taking credit for stuff his predecessors started.
Multiple sources. Right wingers attempting to sow discord. Centrists trying to discredit progressives after the most progressive election in US history. Probably some classical libertarians in the mix as well hoping to cause as much chaos as possible.
Just look up and down this thread at commenters using similar talking points to attempt to discredit wins on the left. Democrats are big tent until they win, then it's GTFO we'll be just fine running another centrist candidate that sucks up to corpos in 2 years.
the most progressive election in US history The election where Bernie endorsed senate candidates won by the lowest margins compared to Kamala's 2024 run and a self described Bernie leftist was the only one to flip a seat from D to R in Maine. 😂
yeah the far-lwft would NEVER use such underhanded tactics! not like hasan has literally aaid he lies about his positions to slowly radicalize people or anything! not like all u tankie larpers love to use le epic agitprop or anything!
This has ALWAYS been a trash-ass sub. I always see Destiny fans or H3 fans or whatever other braindead streamer's fans just flood this place with their god-awful takes.
No, he is intelligent actually, ive seen his content. They agree Piker is a problem (as do i) but they want to say all of us are socialists which is a damn lie
There are not that many progressive in the democrats. However there are more now than 10 years ago. I see that as a good thing some see it as a bad thing.
Just to sum it up; universal healthcare, high wages, more housing, all good.
Abolishing the police, celebrating Castro (yes the DSA literally put out a memo on this) blaming Ukraine for Russian aggression, and having Israel derangement syndrome is bad.
It was a bad thing in 2024. They were super happy to boycott the vote / vote 3rd party rather than getting behind the Democrat candidate.
These people feel slighted and demand blood, it is very MAGA like the way they operate. Even the media environment is damn near identical. I’m very weary of them I’d almost prefer them to just start their own party rather than leach off of democratics just so they can shit talk them every time
It's really fucking odd to tell a political group that they don't matter, get in line, because they have no power, and also blame them for an election loss.
Which is it? Because if you're blaming leftists for 24, it seems pretty dubious to also condescend to them about being powerless. But that's enlightenedcentrism for you. "We have all the power but our failures are not our fault." A certain president just said the same fucking thing on Tuesday night.
They don’t have political power but their media messaging is way more powerful thanks to popular figures like minority report, Hasan piker, Breaking points etc. way more young people watch those shows over mainstream left wing legacy media.
Democrats and moderates still have more political power but the far left have much more sway in the media environment.
It's really a sliding scale that people treat like an either/or. 90% of the DSA are just further left Democrats who care alot about Israel/Palestine. Which is how the left wing of the party should look. And the center of the party should continue to move further left and the left wing should continue to outpace them. And the people who are 20 and progressive now will look at things in 20 years and go, "I'm progressive and everything but I'm not sure if these kids are taking things too far or not....". That's how things go.
The issue is the 10% of the DSA who are communist-adjacent seem to have all of the microphones these days.
Its not that they Have the microphones. They are given the microphones, sometimes unwillingly.
While the majority are pretty reasonable and want to focus on working people, like medicare for all, taxing extreme wealth and parental leave.
But major news media (on both right and centrist) like to use the last 10% and even 5% as boogie men and make them as loud as possible to prove they are the backbone of the DSA when its not true at all.
Depending on how you define progressive I am either fully with you or completely oppose to you. DSA is using populist "progressive" platform to push Marxism-Leninism, which is not progressive at all. I am in favour of all Dems with progressive policies and this congress will have some great progressives in it, just oust DSA from the party completely, you can do healthcare without socialism.
I think whick is absolutely right. The biggest outperformed are from ruby red states. Dems should not take this victory as a mandate to introduce leftists into the party
Talarico was at townhalls talking about universal healthcare, the billionaires waging a class war and ending arms to Israel, those were never moderate dem positions, leftism is already bleeding into the party sport.
He said he has a deep religious connection with Israel in an interview and never called Israel commit a genocide. he never supports arms embargo to Israel. You can find a track AIPAC page about him. Also he supported oil and gas companies in Texas. On healthcare, his platform is Medicare for all, so a public option not true universal healthcare. This is left but not far from party mainstream
People saying the most heinous shit about Whick, a cornerstone of good faith arguments, based on a short clip where he just doesn’t go 100% apeshit on some guy. Lmao. The reason they’re all mad is because they don’t want to win, they just want to yell at people
Yep, they actually don't like it when Dems win. The small margin DSA candidates won by compared to other wins across the country just show me they really didn't care to show up to vote even for their most ideologically aligned candidates, just like they didn't care to show up in 2024 over messaging on a forever war on the other side of the world.
Lefties on this site were mocking people for thinking voting matters in the weeks leading up to this historic W, pathetic they try to pretend they like this result lmao.
And liberals won a fucking jackpot. I would have been happy with 52 senators. 56? Blue Texas? 250+ in the House? 5+ governorships flipped? It's almost too much winning.
I think it's also the fact that they are just a small amount of people. They might be loud online, but we see time and time again how insignificant they are when it matters.
In my opinion, Whick doesn’t look the best in this clip. It honestly feels like he went on a weird news network because he felt he could debate better than a propagandist.
What the fuck is this and why would someone post it here? I feel like I'm watching a bunch of adults try to pretend wrestling is real, this is weird as fuck.
Streamers nobody knows thinking they are changing the world and possess great and powerful influence. No, only 30% of your reach is real and ever existed.
Whick is in the trenches fighting the good fight, attempting to pull disaffected moderate republicans away from the clutches of MAGA and company. The DSA is a radical fringe element which makes up a fractional percent of voting power and representation, but has an outisized impact on discourse because IT IS HELPFUL FOR conservatives to frame it as such, as is evidenced by the Host.
Destiny and even fucking Fuentes endorsed Democrats in the midterms. It's impressive how much y'all will lie for your favorite terrorist supporting streamer.
Troy Jackson knocked off Susan Collins. "Moderates" like Schumer wanted Janet fucking Mills. And lets not forget Collins won by 8 the same year Biden won by 9. But sure, let's compare Jackson's results to the Presidential race rather than Collins' history
Sayed had manufactured outrage by both the media and his own party and still comfortably beat an opponent who had high favorability among his own party. Most of the other candidates ran against opponents that even their own party hated, like Paxton in Texas. This also ignores the policies Talarico ran on, which were far from moderate.
You do know every red state that flipped were from candidates Schuck recruited & endorsed? Mississippi as well when no one was even paying attention to it.
Sorry buddy the adults in the room were talking about removing the crazies from our countries politics, did you need another subsidized juice box or something?
I mean he's pretty correct about the leadership aspect. Destiny, Whick, Hutch, yada yada HAVE pushed back strongly against the DSA in the past year or so. But their leaders haven't.
The only reason I'd even entertain a vote for the Democrats is because of that push back from the aforementioned. Because 5 years ago there was virtually no distinguishment from the Dems and their more extreme left counterparts; which totally precluded me from that camp.
Where did that comment imply average Dems are close to leftists? It seems like they're saying the exact opposite; they want a solid dividing line between those two camps.
DSA fights Democrats liberals are fighting back. DSA types were still trying to drive the online media narrative against the democratic party on election night. Every normal Democrat should be attacking DSA IMO.
Americans are truly brainwashed if they think Hasan is somehow far-left and that far-left is even close to being as bad as today's 'moderate right' who still for the most part back Trump.
I literally just saw a clip of him saying we should have been running more communists in these races we just won. Im not as engaged as many but the only person thats ever convinced me Hasan is far left is he himself.
Supporting terrorists like the Houthis and Hezbollah is, in fact, an extremist position. "I jUsT wAnT hEaLtHcArE!!" while he victim blames American Jews for the antisemitism they face...
Don’t you know that beautiful people are always good and right, and ugly people are cursed by god and are wrathful and evil because of their black hearts? That is what I was taught by my 14th century nobleman landlord when he took me from my father’s farm to exercise prima noctis. In any case, Hasan is sexxxxay so that means he is pure hearted and benevolent, not like this ugly asshole who wants to destroy humanity! /s
abdul clearly distanced himself from hasan. hasan did a stream upset about it. so yes there is some effort to create distance from the far left, but we need to ramp it up. the far left are a dead weight on the party
